Thanks for the shout out! When I saw the title I knew it was gonna be my kind of video. Way to pay homage to all these beautiful trailers. I didn't know the intercontinental trailer has become an endangered species! Even more glad now that I own the kit. Can't wait to build it. Good job on the channel, it's been a great contribution to the rc community. Congrats and keep up the fine work!
You’re welcome and thanks Thomas!! I didn’t know that Tamiya had stopped production on the Intercontinental either. When I started building these trailers it was still available but by the time I was ready to pick it up it was already hard to find and most places said “out of stock” then that turned into “not available” so think the signs were there. All I can say is that I hope…HOPE…they have others or replacements in the works.
Hello FAstFreddy, I learned something new today, did not know that there was a European and North America style trailers for the Tamiya Semi line up. Glad you came back to the Hobby and TH-cam. Thanks for sharing a little of your childhood memories with us. Take care and stay safe. 👍👍
Hi Al! Yeah Tamiya makes only a few semi's that you'll see on North American roads. Most of them are for the European market so you'll see a lot of Mercedes rigs in their line up. So for trailers, you'll be able to spot the European ones pretty easy as for us in North America, the rear wheels are usually duallies whereas the European trailers are single wheels with multiple axles. Really hope to get my Cascadia built soon but it's a huge project that needs a lot of time and attention to say the least lol - Anyway...thank you for stopping by. Saw that you and Addam got together recently...so cool!
Thanks Duke. They're definitely an enjoyable build. I love building things that have true scale realism and the Tamiya semi's definitely have that feel. Lots of things you can add to them to make them even more realistic...only issue is time because once you get into the MFC unit for lights and sound it's going to take you awhile to figure it all out :)
Very cool infos. I'm a little bit envious you have a Cascadia. Not sure, if you mean the Tamiya or the Carson box trailer, just try Tamico. Here we get faster on the kits than on the island😉. I'm really interested in the Goldhofer trailers, but these are out of my budged.
Thanks Dirk. Yeah I think I bought the Cascadia only a few months before it was discontinued. I almost bought a grand hauler but decided to go for the newer style at the last minute. So glad I did as I didn't know they were stopping production of them all together. As to the trailer I mean the Tamiya box trailer. Tamico doesn't even have it listed on their website anymore which is a bad sign because it would appear they aren't making anymore. I'll search out the Goldhofer trailers...curious to see what they have. But I know their is a low boy trailer available in Canada from RC4WD...I think..and it's $1299.00 so that's WAY out of my budget. But like I said, I really hope Tamiya comes out with some new 1:14 trucks or trailers...it's time for some more options!
@@FastFreddyRC interesting. If I stumble over a Tamiya, I'll inform you. Maybe I wasn't precise enough. Goldhofer's the manufactor of the original trailers. We had a four axle at cleaning platoon here at the THW. It's very cool and versatile for excavators and frontloaders. The models're in Carson's sale. I always liked to have a low boy or gooseneck for driving onto with other RC cars😉.
Oh interesting! You mean Goldhofer's is the original manufacturer of the Tamiya trailers? Or the original manufacturer of the Carson trailers? I definitely would love to get a low boy trailer so you can haul other vehicles.@@RCBirds
@@FastFreddyRC ehmm, Goldhofer produces the tailers in scale 1 by 1 like Schmitz, Fliegl or Krone. Carson is a distributor of models and spare parts. And a company daughter of Tamiya. I unfortunately cannot say, from which model manufactor Carson purchases. But if you search "Carson Goldhofer" it might be easier to understand my bad English. Sorry for the chaos😉.
Some sweet trailers, i hope you find the boxtrailer. I´ve heard its out of production but i havent got that information confirmed yet so im not 100 procent sure about it.
Thank you! Only thing I can hope is that it’s out of production because it’s being replaced with something newer as I would think the box trailer would have been one of their most popular, and most common, trailer purchases. But thank you…I definitely hope to find it somewhere if it has gone out of production all together.
Thanks John! Appreciate it. And yes I do indeed. Check out Thomas's youtube channel @westernsharpie . He does incredible work and makes all sorts of goodies for Tamiya's trucks and trailers. You can also find him on Facebook where he sells some of the items that he makes.
I built all of three but I built the flat bed into a super b with stake pockets and rub rails, and I built tanker into a 6 axle b train. Just finished assembly on the second trailer
I’m sure that’s true! lol - Guess this way once I get the truck built I’ve got choices of what to pull :) The tanker is definitely my favourite and worth the time to build it.
@@FastFreddyRC not sure maybe sunoco or mobil or even just a larger shell and lettering because like you said its gorgeous all by itself and i dont want to cover alot of it
Hmmmm...the one thing you can try to do is search for a high quality logo online for either of those companies and then go to a place like MCIracing.ca for the decal reproductions. They are in Canada and very popular in the RC world. Most of us use them for our decal needs. @@michaelrajca6043
Well that's great to know! I'm not aware of any that you can buy. I've looked before and couldn't find any. The original build video was designed to showcase how to build it the "Tamiya way" but ultimately the plan is to modify the Tanker trailer and Flatbed trailer to make them truly North American trailers ie. Mansfield Bars, air brake units on the axles, side marker lights etc. I'll be working with @westernsharpie when the time comes to do just that. Do you have a link to these light hookups? Thanks for the info!

A little different....most guys build the truck first!
The tanker looks fantastic.
Hope to get one sometime.

do you know where to get different company dacals for that tanker trailer. all i could find was shell but looking for others. any ideas?
They have to be custom made. I know one guy that got Petro Canada decals made. Which decals are you looking for specifically?

why didn't you use 1/14 scale glad hands and light hookups from the truck to the trailer they do make them for 1/14 scale semi truck and trailer

Sem-eye, sem-eye!
This has come up before but it depends where you are from. I'm in Canada and it's Sem-ee and can be interchangeable.
