Yeah, it was pretty awful.
I recommend trading at a local book exchange. Most cities have used book stores called "'Your City' Book Exchange" and they tend to give you 1/4 of the list price for books and manga!

I had a similar experience in my area with them. I think I'll list my items on Pango during my next unhaul instead.

2&C knows they're convenient and people don't want the hassle of taking their books back so will usually just accept whatever. Their rates are never good. Always go local! 😊
That's my plan from now on.

Augh that sucks!!! 😟 Definitely agree that 2nd and Charles is just the Gamestop of books. I'm glad my local used bookstore has very good in-store credit/cash trade rate and I have good success with selling on Mercari. Tiger Tiger sounds good for international Talk Like a Pirate day coming soon! 🧡

Me too. The reality of it was just a slap in the face.
I went to 2nd and Charles too. Once I got the trade value I declined and took my books back. Not a great experience for me
I almost took my books back also.

Yes sadly it's the same here in Texas with have Price Books. And years ago before the Takeover by Amazon of this second-hand Market, have price was very generous with the trade-in value. However, is the same as what you experienced. You are lucky to get 5% to 10% of cover price. Than they will sell it at half the price of cover value. But the good news is you got that credit offer which was higher. I wish half-price did that but they too stingy 💛💛💛 had to use yellow because I don't have an orange heart in my phone selection sorry😍
All good! And yeah, with Amazon and eBay, the used market has changed a lot.

I have had a similar feeling from half priced books. I don't have large unhauls but at that point I'd give them away to someone who'll appreciate it over that feeling

we don't have a 2nd Charles around here but I've heard they are the Gamestop of bookstore trades, a $60 game they will give you 5 bucks if you're lucky. Sad

I was given $8. For 3 unused cds, 8 books including manga and they were like new. I wish i just sold them on depot.
Having checked out half price books etc I have decided I would rather donate to the library unless I decide to sell on something like Pango or what have you.
A good choice in my opinion!
There's one of these stores in my area, but out of my way. I purchased from them once (found quite a few historicals with stepbacks) but would rather list on Pango or go to a local used bookstore. Just feel better about it. They're trying to make $ - definitely scamming.

Random question but what is infamous about the Heart of a Warrior step back? Love seeing those classic step backs tho. Also love seeing the signature of the artists when they were able to sign on their art. 🧡
