    great vid. I ran my to my aux 4 uplifter. Can't wait to test it out doing some heavy pulling

      How did you do it and did it work?

    I put on a new Motorcraft fan clutch..works great now..$360..runs cooler and AC is cooler.
    Upgraded positive/ground cables too. $400 and worth it

    Hi there, i was wondering if it worked? I tapped from the blue wire at the connector that goes to the fan clutch, when i flip the switch, it doesn't override mine.

      Yes, works great. At 7:14 you should be looking at 2nd row, 2nd pin from the right (looking at the front of the connector). You should be able to verify that the blue wire has continuity between the main plug and the fan plug. Since the fan is ran by a pwm circuit it takes a second to come on (with the engine running). With the blue wire, you are just completing ground for the fan (through the switch of your choice).

      @@skudwoofer thank you so much 🙏🏿. Maybe I grounded the wrong blue wire but I'll do it the way you did it from the plug by the battery instead. .

      @@skudwooferwondering if you can help me out.. I had it previously tapped from the blue wire that goes to the clutch, today I did you step but for some reason, the override doesn't kick in.. the only time the clutch kicks in is when I am going through mountain climb and temp gets to 99 celcious 210 Fahrenheit, the override doesn't work for my truck and I don't know why. I have a 2006 f350 king Ranch

      This is not the specific thread I got my info from however, there are many threads on this website on the same subject....

      I would also recommend this link as reference for when you have to do other "ford stuff" 😀

    Once this mod is completed will the fan function as normal when not grounded by use of the switch?
    Thanks for the helpful content.

      The fan does function as normal when not grounded, and I have used it on a number of trips to the sand dunes where we have a few decent climbs between here and the dunes on the coast. It does exactly what I wanted except that you can not make use of the LED since it is functioning as a "grounding circuit" and the LED circuit has no way of being independently powered by 12v. One way of using it as a it was intended would be to somehow power it with regular 12v and incorporate a relay that would be your "grounding circuit". At the time I just hadn't had the time to sit down and think about the circuit. If I have the time in the future, I may have a board printed just for this setup.....

      @@skudwoofer if you cut the wire at the PCM how is the fan still working normally when it's not grounded

    • @skudwoofer
      @skudwoofer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tracymawer6980 I didn't cut the wire, I spliced in a manual ground, the switch is used to manually ground the circuit, thus overriding the pcm

      @@josephcorpus6595and I'm now doing the same thing. 114 here, and seeing oil temps of 226 and 216 for coolant when pulling heavy. Need to get it under control before it eats a lifter or kills something that needs its lube to perform under harsh conditions.

    Why not use the wires that are aready thru the dash. That have nothing hooked to them. They look like have connectors on them with nothing hooked to them.

    • @skudwoofer
      @skudwoofer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are the "upfitter" wires that come on all trucks of that year and will eventually be used for winch, lights, external welder, air compressor, etc

    • @artsisland1683
      @artsisland1683 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly what I would do. Unused upfitter switch is the perfect solution.

    Does the switch light work, or is there more wiring needed for that? thanks

    • @skudwoofer
      @skudwoofer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      unfortunately the switch is just pulling the circuit to ground (you are grounding the wire thru the switch) and the LED inside the switch requires 12V to illuminate so there is no way with this switch to illuminate the LED. If the circuit was such that it involved completing a 12v circuit, the LED would work as it is intended, but the way Ford operates the fan switch, they switch the ground, not 12V.
