It's just really weird how this video is portraying the "alleged" domestic violence incident.
After being concerned about the yelling coming from their room, hotel staff called the police. The police arrived and found Evan with a bloody nose and a bitemark on his arm (which there are pictures of) whilst Emma didn't seen to have any injuries. They questioned some witnesses and after thorough investigation they decided to take Emma into custody for domestic violence. They only let her go because Evan decided not to press charges, even though the police heavily encouraged him to.
Later, Emma's rep team and her friends claimed that it was all a misunderstanding and that Evan and Emma are working through it together. They also said that Evan didn't have a bitemark, which, again, is proven to be nonsense because there are pictures of Evan with that bitemark. Emma's team made that clame, Evan had nothing to do with it and didn't openly approve of that message.
Some days after, Emma was seen with bruises on her knees, which caused many people to think that it was "mutual abuse" and that they were obviously hitting each other. "Mutual abuse" doesn't exist. There is an agressor and a victim, and sometimes, the victim protects themselves by hitting back or shoving their abuser away, which can lead to the agressor having visible injuries.
Still, I don't think even that was the case here. You don't hit or kick a knee whilst leaving everything else perfectly fine, that wouldn't happen. But knees are often used for injuring other people, which can cause bruises.
This also wasn't just one single instance in an otherwise not physically abusive relationship. Evan was often seen with bruises on his face, though you couldn't see them very well in most pictures because they were covered in make up, but they were definately there. In the same time spann, sometimes while attending the same event, Emma has bruised up knuckles like from hitting someone, hard.
Not entirely reliable sources claimed that Evan had to get stiches because Emma hit his head with a glass bottle. During the healing process, Evan's hair was awkwardly pushed to the side to cover his scar and the fact that part of his right eyebrow had to be shaved off.
Emma Roberts also brought this behaviour into other relationships. One of her ex boyfriends actually came out with the statement that he was abused by her, but the media just kinda ignored that. She does have BPD and apparently a drinking problem (?) but that doesn't excuse her actions, just explains them.
If the roles were reversed, no one would call this as "a problematic, passionate relationship with it's ups and downs", they would call this abuse, because it was. Emma had her ups and downs, Evan just had downs.
