    I'm super proud of my team and all the other ladies that participated in the event. Many were nervous in the beginning but they had tons of fun after the nerves left. It's such a pleasure to be a part of something that inspires girls to raise the competitive bar for themselves

      Did you model your play style after kirbykaze? This was great play.

      +Onehandbackhand In the beginning, I watched a lot of KK, now I'm more of a Shroomed/Mew2King/Plup watcher with a spice of Andriod in the mix. I just like heavy combos. I still am working on my movement! The grind never ends!

      +TheLegendOfLyric Keep at it. I started only 5 months ago. I hope to see you in the melee top 100 one day :)

    I'm so glad that this is a thing. Having a diverse group of people is so important to the smash community as a whole, and making it more inviting for approximately 50% of the people on the planet certainly can't hurt.
    It was really interesting to see how the bigger skill gaps between players worked out in a crew battle. It made it really hype when team Satan almost made the comeback due to the huge differences in skill that different players had. I'm also guessing that emilywaves was a little more used to the pressure than most of the other ladies playing which probably had a big part in it.

    I saw the first smash sisters crew battle at Genesis 3, it was so hype! This one was cool too. You girls should have a girl only tournament, that would be awesome

    Sailor mercury did a good job commentating, and putting her solid technical and narrative commentary next to homemadewaffles bombastic humor made this a really solid video. I think the absolute best thing for bringing girls to the game right now (besides having these AWESOME events that need to happen more) would be to build up a girl commentator like sailor mercury and give her some spots in main events. even if the matches are between dudes on dudes, hearing a girl narrate matches would make things so much more watchable for girls so they'd be interested in the content and interested in the game and wanna play and pretty soon we'll have top 100 players, top 10? #1???

    I really hope Sad Dad and that Bowser keep playing Melee. I see a lot of potential for the both of them. Hopefully this event gave them the motivation to train really hard and continue going to tournaments. GG Gals. ^^

    I want to see the winner of the regional crews for SSS go up against the winners of the regional crews for Normal Melee tournaments where everyone, including women, are allowed to compete.

    Could make a constructive comment for the even, but seeing as they are being moderated out anyway I wont bother.

    • @emilywaves
      @emilywaves 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Jon Smith What was moderated out? I haven't deleted anything.

    • @jonsmith8434
      @jonsmith8434 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emily Sun Almost every comment thread ive been in pertaining to this has been heavily moderated. Some stuff was just rude which is right to remove, but any question or concern doesn't need to be censored out

    • @jonsmith8434
      @jonsmith8434 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This comment is being made here for just that reason.

    • @emilywaves
      @emilywaves 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Jon Smith I can only speak for official Smash Sisters threads: there have been 3-4 on Reddit (not modded at all), 2 TH-cam videos (comments completely disabled), and this one (nothing's been modded, but I will disable comments if things get out of hand. Not talking about criticism, but if people start getting nasty). The only thing we've modded heavily is the hitbox chat during the event, but that's not really a 'thread'. Hope that explains how we've approached everything.

    • @jonsmith8434
      @jonsmith8434 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emily Sun Fair enough, if there is really no moderation (not true from what ive seen) then hopefully it stays that way. Hitbox/twitch chat being the exception despite the fact that it is basically always ignored.

    Just make a bracket for new players in general.

    • @gamerchico1
      @gamerchico1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TheChucknoxus ---- In Mayhem (Pasadena, Southern California), there is an amateur and an intermediate bracket if you don't make it out of pools (to my memory).

    • @MizukiTHPS
      @MizukiTHPS 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TheChucknoxus They did do that. There was round robin pools into 4 levels of brackets, Pro, Intermediate, Amateur, and Buster. This was an event in addition to that, not detracting from.

    • @TheChucknoxus
      @TheChucknoxus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MizukiTHPS Then I don't see why we need a female only event.

    • @MizukiTHPS
      @MizukiTHPS 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TheChucknoxus The point of the event is nothing to do with skill level. It is about getting women out to events, making the existing women in smash more comfortable, and making the women of smash more visible to potential new female players. A more in depth discussion of the importance of all women events can be found here lilchen.com/blog/stop-asking-about-all-female-tournaments/ There are lots of questions at the end that are still being worked on, Smash Sisters is a new and evolving event and we are trying to make it the best that it can be to achieve its goal.

    • @TheChucknoxus
      @TheChucknoxus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MizukiTHPS I'm totally fine with those events as long as there's no payout. I just fear that people will make female only tournaments with the same payout as the normal events, which would result in female players getting paid the same for less effort.

    I still don't understand why there need to be separate events for girls

    • @acekun6493
      @acekun6493 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matthew Zakrzewski Why not, doesnt really hurt anyone, except the schedule maybe, lol.

    • @Killopotamus
      @Killopotamus 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Matthew Zakrzewski I think it's because the first thing people think is segregation, not about the solidarity they're trying to create. Milktea had a decent writeup on her opposition to it as well. I get how you feel, i felt the same way, but it makes sense if you just look at it from a perspective of unity not separation.

    • @austinoverstreet2852
      @austinoverstreet2852 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matthew Zakrzewski not to be sexist... but low low tier players from the male tourny scene would... run through these players

      I can't lie, that's pretty true. A good portion of these girls need a lot more practice. They're better than the EU girls, but not by much. Did jabber even wobble?

    Its so weird seeing the forced hype for lower level players like this. But hey apparently its makes more people play Melee so whatever
    And no Im not trying to be insulting or sexist, just telling it like it is. Eg, c-stick spamming Marth, and noone besides that one Sheik even looked like they knew how to move around comfortably.

    • @sigurdtheblue
      @sigurdtheblue 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there were a lot of good players in there, but recoveries were surprisingly bad. And it is not weird to be excited about lower level play. This is not really less exciting to me than top-level play.
