Thank you so much for this instruction. I’ve inherited my boyfriend’s movie collection and they mean so much to me. Mostly all of the movies we’ve enjoyed watching together during the 3 years we were together. He is so deeply missed and all of the movies bring back great memories for me. So I can’t wait to get started on this project. So thanks again. Be 😇 blessed
Junkyard Princess Wow, 6000! Do you realise if you bought no more and were just to watch one DVD/blu-ray a night, it would take you a bit over 16 years to watch them all!
Thanks for this video man - I was struggling to find a cheap DIY storage plan for my nearly 2,000 Blu-rays, but this is perfect! I’ll definitely be posting a video and giving you credit when it’s done!
Nice work. There is absolutely a sense of pride that comes along with something you build yourself and I think it increases when it's related to something you love like your media collection.
I just have to say THANK YOU!!!! I just built this for $30 total with tax and L brackets. This is after spending $30 on organizers that only held half what I had. This saves soooooo much room!! You're the frickin man!
This is fantastic Guerra. You don't know how many times I've been on the computer looking for storage units. I then went on youtube to get ideas to build my own and yours is so easy and quick. Can't tell you my friend how much you've helped me, thanks thanks thanks.
My wife wants me to add a couple floating shelves in her kitchen. So, as most diyers might do, I went straight to TH-cam and lo and behold I found your video. Research complete. I will be using your simple and clearly explained process to gain some brownie points this weekend. Thanks. 5:54
Your video has helped me store my 4200 dvds...Im buying to save up and make my own streaming service for the family....I guarantee in 10 to 20 years they are gonna go from 10 to 15 dollars a month into what our parents was paying monthly 160$ 🤪🤪🤪
I just want to thank you for posting this video and giving me the inspiration to built my very own DVD rack. I made mine 8 ft. tall and 9 ft wide, with an empty space in the middle for my stand to slide back into. So now my collection frames my entertainment center and it looks so awesome!!! My favorite part was staining the 2x4's and 1x2's to match the furniture in my living room and seal/protect the wood. Very happy and proud of the final product!
Really nice build. Looks really great painted. You should be proud. I dated a girl who had a roommate who had literally every wall in the apartment covered with DVDs. I mean just about any movie or box set you could think of he had. I used to think, man I am sorry for this guy if he ever has to move! Your collection is very nice, and will only get better, congratulations man.
Bro, your video is awesome, I had previously bought a dvd shelf that holds about 200 movies and here I am sitting on thousands along with so many games. I believe I am going to do the same exact thing as I need about the same width as you, 6 w x 8 height. I hope that I can fit at least 800 movies in it, the more the better right. Thanks a lot for sharing bro. Be safe now
This is awesome. Way better idea than buying shelves. Saves a ton of space! I just moved into my new house and need a way to store my movies. Im gonna do this.
Just finished making these but I used 1 inch L brackets to attach the 2x1 as it has a cleaner look from the front. Managed to add 10 shelves holding 50 blu rays each (500) Total cost is £26 ($36) as I used a slightly better finished wood and obv the brackets. Really happy with the results and so much cheaper than buying something from a store.
Great video. It really solved my DVD storage problem. Nowhere near the size of your collection but still worked for me (569 DVDs). Easy, and inexpensive. I wanted to post some photos of the finished project here but TH-cam does not have a way to do that. Anyway, thank you for sharing your great idea!!
Hey man just wanted to say I was having the same problem too many book shelves ran out of room till I seen your vid wow what a change fit about 1400 on mine it’s about 8.5 feet wide 8 feet tall didn’t fit them all but hey always have more walls lol thanks for the idea worked perfectly
Did you screw the 2x4's in to the existing studs, or just used wall anchors with the brackets through the drywall? My only concern would be the weight of wood+DVD's over time I fear it would weaken and potentially fall.
This is a great idea and one I will be implementing as it doesn't need a lot of materials and more importantly minimal damage to walls in terms of screws
I actually made one of these myself. It’s a good idea to have the middle 2x4. You wouldn’t think DVD’s would have any weight, but over time the 1x2’s would sag in the middle.
And I was just looking at materials at almost 70 bucks to build movie shelves. Thank you for this video, it’s gonna save me money and I’ll have better looking shelves for my movies. 👍
How did you fit the 4x2's to the wall. Is this a case of getting something like a 6-8" screw and going all the way through the 4x2 into a rawplug in the wall ?
Definitely need to make a diy set up like this. My movies just pile up so high, and it's so annoying getting a blu ray out and trying to not make them collapse on me. It's happened. A few times haha. Good job man. Glad this idea worked for you
Great job dude! I built shelves in our last home but yours are WAAAAY better. Stealing your idea :) Nice front surface could be painted with chalk board paint for labeling the genres ( Zombie movies being the most important of course)
Love this idea. I’ve been looking at shelving at IKEA but when you have a larger collection, you need multiple bookcases and it gets expensive. Money that I’d rather be spending on DVDs and Blu Rays! I’ll definitely be trying this out!
HI, GUERRA & "FANG"(Thank) YOU for sharing this "GRR"-reat(Great) Video & showing us how to build our own dvd/Video shelves! Just today I stopped at a local Target looking for things I could store the Videos & dvds from my "vast" collection in(like plastic storage tubs to put under bed, etc), when I thought: "Hey, I CAN BUILD my OWN dvd/Video shelves"(like my "Fiend"/friend, Dan did)! So, I did a youtube search on building dvd/video shelves & "viola", I saw your video here at the top of the page! I like how you did this & it "Inspired" me to want to do this, too! Thank YOU again! your new "FIEND", David ROCK Nelson, B-"MONSTER"-comedy Moviemaker/actor 28-Years & BEYOND, creator of movies The Devil ANT" Trilogy(1-3, so far), "MUMMY A.D. 1993", "CONRAD Brooks Vs. Werewolf", my new hoots(Hits?!) "DINOSAUR Woman" & my newest "HOWL of The Werewolf"(both 2019), etc. You can "FIEND"(Friend) me on Facebook & see me on TH-cam. Search for: David ROCK Nelson.
Wow! An awesome DVD shelf and it seems so simple and its certainly better than the shitty shelves I've been buying. I think I'll give this a try. Thanks for this upload.
This will work for gaming rooms as well! I built an entire wall out of pallets to support all of my movies. On the backside of that wall I’ll do what you did and share with all how it came out!
Great idea! Has anyone tried this with CDs? I’m guessing they’d be heavier to fill the wall compared to DVD boxes since they are smaller and often include booklets? Also, we have floorboard trim, so I guess I’d have to cut into the backside of the vertical 2x4s to go around that- would that weaken the 2x4s too much, or are they fine because of the L brackets?
Totally doing this!! It's so easy and cheap and looks way more sturdy than these smaller 50,60,100$ crap media shelves.... Also, KIDS! that's whats up 😝
No, you DON'T have a "issue", you have a Good "HOBBY", classic Movie-watching! We CAN LEARN from Movies, too & they "Inspire" us, give us "Ideas" which "feed our imagination" & the "creative", artistic part of our mind. Watching other filmmakers' movies is a great way, as the late, great Sci-Fi author Ray Bradbury said, to "Feed your 'MUSE'"! We "feed our 'muse'" by watching the movies that "inspire" us, reading from books & mags & listening to those who are doing that which we are interested in. For me, I watch alot of classic "Sci-Fi"/"Monster" Movies of the 1930's thru 60's, the movies I love the most & they give me ideas to use in my own Fun B-"MONSTER"-comedy Movies. Your "Fiend", David ROCK Nelson, B-"Monster" Moviemaker/actor 28-Years & BEYOND, creator of movies "The Devil ANT" Trilogy(1-3, so far), "MISS Werewolf", my new "DINOSAUR Woman" & "HOWL of Werewolf"(both 2019), etc. "FIEND"(Friend) me on Facebook & see me on TH-cam. Search for: David ROCK Nelson.
Looks good, but do the dvds fall thtough? Remember the dvd sheves they sold and if one fell through the others would fall.through in a chain reaction effect. Lemme know, because i love this idea!!
hey! we actually built this for my bedroom on the weekend, so thanks for the awesome vid. i was wondering, for your smaller, deeper top shelf where you put the funko pops, how did you get the horizontal shelf to stay there? did you glue it to the 1x2?
Thank you so much for this instruction. I’ve inherited my boyfriend’s movie collection and they mean so much to me. Mostly all of the movies we’ve enjoyed watching together during the 3 years we were together. He is so deeply missed and all of the movies bring back great memories for me. So I can’t wait to get started on this project. So thanks again. Be 😇 blessed
I have a collection 6000+ strong and just enclosed the back of my studio to create storage.... this is an awesome idea!! Thank you for sharing!!
Junkyard Princess Wow, 6000! Do you realise if you bought no more and were just to watch one DVD/blu-ray a night, it would take you a bit over 16 years to watch them all!
instaBlaster...
I have 13k Guess i spent 32yrs watchin tv Even though i am 29
Thanks for this video man - I was struggling to find a cheap DIY storage plan for my nearly 2,000 Blu-rays, but this is perfect! I’ll definitely be posting a video and giving you credit when it’s done!
Your video brought me here
Did you end up making the shelves
This video is still helpful in 2023 for those of us who still love our DVD collection... I'm building my shelf tmrw... Thank you
Nice work. There is absolutely a sense of pride that comes along with something you build yourself and I think it increases when it's related to something you love like your media collection.
Just finished putting up my shelf, couldn't be happier. Thanks again for a great video.
I just have to say THANK YOU!!!! I just built this for $30 total with tax and L brackets. This is after spending $30 on organizers that only held half what I had. This saves soooooo much room!! You're the frickin man!
We did this today and it's amazing. Thank you so much for posting this. I finally have my movies organized. Great idea! 👍
This is fantastic Guerra. You don't know how many times I've been on the computer looking for storage units. I then went on youtube to get ideas to build my own and yours is so easy and quick. Can't tell you my friend how much you've helped me, thanks thanks thanks.
Damn great job man!! Wish I would have seen this like 2 years ago lol! Would have saved me prob $700 in bookshelves!! Your the man!!
Easy, cheap and functional. Awesome job. Looks good too.
My wife wants me to add a couple floating shelves in her kitchen. So, as most diyers might do, I went straight to TH-cam and lo and behold I found your video. Research complete. I will be using your simple and clearly explained process to gain some brownie points this weekend. Thanks. 5:54
Great job! Definitely pointed me in the right direction.. Thanks for the inspiration
Nice simple design. Good work.
Genius. The open shelf design saves a ton of money on wood and works efficiently.
I don't know you but you did a great job dude and it's nice to see somebody so happy with their accomplishments.Good for you, Congrats !!!!
This is so smart! Thank you for saving me time and money!!!
Your video has helped me store my 4200 dvds...Im buying to save up and make my own streaming service for the family....I guarantee in 10 to 20 years they are gonna go from 10 to 15 dollars a month into what our parents was paying monthly 160$ 🤪🤪🤪
Just built 2 more shelves that can hold an extra 1,530 dvds...thanks again !
Looks amazing. Even just as a wall decor.
I just want to thank you for posting this video and giving me the inspiration to built my very own DVD rack. I made one already. About to make another one. Thanks man!
BEST IDEA EVER ! ! I'm like you - I have about 2000 movies on DVD. I'm going to copy your brilliant idea. Thank you for posting it.
Just would like to thank you for this video. It helped me to build a similar version. Warm regards from Brazil.
One word, PERFECT !!!
Built mine... it's awesome.
Bro, your video is awesome, I had previously bought a dvd shelf that holds about 200 movies and here I am sitting on thousands along with so many games. Looks great brotha!! Definitely going to use this method when I get my new spot
Thank you for this video. I came across this and implemented this idea for my dvds between studs in basement. Less than $20!
This is awesome. Way better idea than buying shelves. Saves a ton of space! I just moved into my new house and need a way to store my movies. Im gonna do this.
Genius! Doing this for my mother-in-law next week, smaller scale.
Thanks for this video I'm going to build 1 tomorrow such a easy simple design which I never thought of
Love all the helpful techniques! Thank you. 3:26
Omg thanks for this. Building this, this week
Just finished making these but I used 1 inch L brackets to attach the 2x1 as it has a cleaner look from the front. Great set up
Looks great! This is exactly what I want to do.
Fantastic! Love the simplicity and how easy it is to scale up or down to fit in any space. Well done. Just wish lumber was still that cheap. :(
That was a smart idea. I may try and do the same thank you.
I really like how you reinvented the room, great job man ! :)
that looks so clean, excellent job!

I had a box with like 150 DVDs. It was a lot heavier than I expected lol
And I was just looking at materials at almost 70 bucks to build movie shelves. Thank you for this video, it’s gonna save me money and I’ll have better looking shelves for my movies. 👍
I did this in my room. Thanks man
great shelf. I might just build one.

That is a great build, great idea, much better than mine that might just fall over lol...I may have to try this
Nice!!👌🏼 thanks for the inspiration 👍🏼🇬🇧

Thanks for sharing my hubby just made this Monday thanks 🙏
Looks awesome dude! Nothing better than quality shelves. Props for doing it yourself.
Just mad I didnt do it sooner lol
This is the smartest idea I have ever seen! Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us! How did you come up with this design?
Love this idea. I’ve been looking at shelving at IKEA but when you have a larger collection, you need multiple bookcases and it gets expensive. Money that I’d rather be spending on DVDs and Blu Rays! I’ll definitely be trying this out!
Wondering if this would work for soft cover and larger hardcover books ????

Wow! An awesome DVD shelf and it seems so simple and its certainly better than the shitty shelves I've been buying. I think I'll give this a try. Thanks for this upload.
great idea!!!...great video!!
This is awesome! So easy/
Great shelf! Better than mine! I used yard stocks instead of 1x2 🤣
Dude! Love it. I’m doin this. Great job
It came out great! I should hire you to make me one!
On my way!
This will work for gaming rooms as well! I built an entire wall out of pallets to support all of my movies. On the backside of that wall I’ll do what you did and share with all how it came out!

Wow I’m really loved it, me encanto gracias, thank you so much!! 5:25
Slick shelf man!
this actually needs more attention. Fucking brilliant, kudos man!
I might try this im not handy at all but it looks like something i can do
I love you shelves, what kind of screws use?
It's good to know there are still people out there interested in physical media. So many useless drones what to stream and not own their movies.
Awwweeeesommme. I love it
Looks good! What kind of paint did you use?
I purchased these materials today for $86, just wanted to provide an updated cost. Looking to store my VHS collection on these shelves.
I built something similar with 1x4 shelves and it wasn't deep enough I wish I had thought of this 👍
It looks great!
Sick set up man 👍
Brilliant!!!
I kind of started my collection and my dad says I have an issue, i tell him, nah its just a hobby. Barely have about 200 dvds
No, you DON'T have a "issue", you have a Good "HOBBY", classic Movie-watching! My dad says to stop buying them you never watch them. Yes I do you don't see me to watch it.
why did you use actual shelfs and not just sticks
Hey!!! Thanks. Easy but cost me $42 because i needed special screws and bought my L brackets too big. Thanks so much, im very happy.
Great idea.
Looks good, but do the dvds fall thtough? Remember the dvd sheves they sold and if one fell through the others would fall.through in a chain reaction effect.
Lemme know, because i love this idea!!

This is awesome!
hey! we actually built this for my bedroom on the weekend, so thanks for the awesome vid. i was wondering, for your smaller, deeper top shelf where you put the funko pops, how did you get the horizontal shelf to stay there? did you glue it to the 1x2?
this is actually genius
I am your 900 subscriber xd
The shelves look great diyelias😊 I had a similar set up to this a few years back. Glad you're doing well mate
Thanks man! All is well with diy elias
wont hold disney vhs clam shells to short
How many movies you got there?
Ive got all dvds vhs bluerays beta vhs that need better storage. I think this could help
How many 1x2's did you need to go up 8 feet?
The middle is definitely important lol
