eosd has such a weird aesthetic that I can't describe. it's so familiar yet different from everything else ever. I would probably think it was just nostalgic but I don't think it's possible to feel nostalgia from something I just started playing a few months ago.
It might be the art style or the Capcomish music, both of them are really great in their own respective ways, the 'art' really leaves a image in the mind as one would say.... 'art"1

Reminds me of my childhood game, a game of the Pixar film Cars. I find the music in that game somewhat similar to Touhou 6's music, both are nostalgic to me, but both of them always had that nostalgic feeling. Il leave this up to whoever comments, either that or this is a dead comment.

The time has come for me to unload, The Zunpet Encyclopedia Zunpets are more formally known on sound modules as Romantic Trumpet and Sweet Trumpet, possibly among others. A sound module is essentially just a collection of samples that can be manipulated by midi signals(essentially it's a keyboard's sounds and the midi signals act as surrogate keys being pressed). The module ZUN used is called the SD-80 and I believe it's the source of the rest of the instruments on the soundtrack and on al soundtracks going forward in the series. The Trumpet itself as far as I can tell is just a normal trumpet with insane amounts of vibrato.

Have you ever beaten the extra boss of this game yet? I cannot beat the extra stage argh so hard I have not reached Remillia Scarlet in normal yet I am gonna play this one again and try to get there this was my very first Touhou I play this a lot too :D
Because of clever efficiency. Gameplay is simple and patterns and enemies can be written so you can simply write in time and position along with speed and angle. To the point where a simple circle movement can be a method call giving radius, time and direction. Second the visuals are heavily simplistic with many special effects that can be applied post rendering. This makes up the majority of the game. Once the core is done you simply add to or change certain things like drag and drop. That leaves him to focus on his true talent, music. It's a more advanced version of Undertale which is similar in that it's simplicity allows flexibility and focus on Toby Fox's strengths and interests he has experience in. You can see this clearly in Dust An Elysian Tail and WARSHIFT "Yes it is in captions" where the developers did everything except some small parts. Yes Toby DID let some of the battle sprite work be done by some other/others I don't know. In Dust the music was done separately while the gameplay, art and animation was one guy. Also voice acting was not him for obvious reasons. He's a veteran artist and animator making Jazz Jackrabbit so his skills was used here. But if you think Touhou is insane for a human. Look at Universum and Warshift. Some slight freelance modeling but otherwise. A veteran making programming, 2d, 3d modeling and music. He basically did everything. And that game looks and plays like a triple A title. Now THAT is beyond believable.

@@ConjiniumIf bullet hell is too hard for you then I recommend picking up touhou 7 as it's the first game to show you your hitbox and it's also very relatively easy in comparison to most of the games within the series, I also recommend playing on easy mode with reimu first before branching out to other difficulties and shot types, don't be pressured by anyone to learn the games on harder difficulties, the point of the game is to enjoy and a good way to improve is to learn the basics on easier modes, looking back at it easy mode is a bit way too easy to teach you how to properly learn the games but if you learn the basics from your easy runs you can easily transfer the knowledge onto normal mode and so on, at least that's what I did, I played on easy first, learned a few important things and then managed to pull my first normal 1cc within a week, so don't be discouraged. If bullet hell simply isn't for you there's no shame in trying out the fighting games instead, since you picked up 15.5 I also recommend picking up 12.3 since it's the most well acclaimed fighting game in the series with the largest community, Hope that you enjoy.
Much love for this soundtrack. One of the things I love most about ZUN's music is his recurring medleys; in future installments I always found myself going back to earlier games and comparing tunes. Like many people I think, EoSD was my first Touhou so this one will always have a special place in my heart.

Just got into Touhou from a random meme i saw. My friend was kind enough to get me 6-13 to try them out. Just started playing today and the animation, gamplay and especially the ost are absolutely outstanding!
warning: long, u can ignore if you want this is still my favorite touhou game, it just marks the beginning of future games, also the music I love so much (my favorites from eosd are the young descendant of tepes, maid and the pocket watch of blood, scarlet beyond a crimson dream, voile the magic library, crimson Belvedere, septette for the dead princess, chinese tea, lunate elf, and the centennial festival for magical girls.) eosd is just so important to me, I remember back when i was a ut (undertale) fan, i saw that bad apple version of it like 5 or 4 years ago, i did know it was some anime (not actually an anime) or game styled thing, but never really bothered to witness the orignal bad apple. Fast forward to that one video I watched with the pc98 time settings thing (where they change the date or something) and I heard un owen was her, i saw the name of the song from the comments and went to a seperate vid of the actual theme. I thought flan looked familiar and I thought of a character, so I went to the original bad apple, whaddya know I realized it said that they were both from touhou. i knew flan had to be the girl with those “wings” from bad apple. now it’s been a few years, getting into the lore and music of the games was just so fun, just seeing what new stuff zun makes nowadays. I can’t believe this just got me into 2hu because of flandere and ut. How time flies…

Even though I play this game very scarcely and don't enjoy it as much as those that follow, the soundtrack really stands out. This atmosphere was never to be touched again ; a Western aristocratic style with a hint of modernity perfectly suited for the Scarlet Devil. Iconic in every way.
Just started playing Touhou. This is my first game in the series like a lot of people, and I'm only playing on easy mode until I beat it. I haven't gotten to Remilia's stage yet, Sakuya's kinda tough. I've decided to only play the next Touhou game when I've beaten this one on at least Hard mode. This game's really fun! And of course, the music is amazing too, just like any Touhou game.
I found this series via music remixes. Out of curiosity decided to see which remixes came from which games. Turns out I have *every single song* from this OST remixed at least once. It's incredible.
why does this games soundtrack sound so nostalgic and familiar. I started playing the game about 2 months ago (Late January 2020) but I feel like ive known the music for way longer.
@@layshuh The soundfont/sampler/vintage synth patch choices. The style of chord choices are more complex sometimes and remind me of old jrpg boss battles.
I always play on Lunatic. I played Touhou 8 first because my friend said it'd be good to start me out, at first it was so hard but now I tear it up on lunatic. The games have such amazing soundtracks that add such an amazing atmosphere.
It seems like everyone has the same strange nostalgic feeling here. Anyone booting up EoSD will feel nostalgic for the title theme, even if they've never heard it before. It's a little eerie, isn't it?

ZUN is truely a madlad. He made his music but instead of advertising is like a normie, he achieved legendary status and made video games for his music! In all seriousness, whether he forsaw this or not, he cemented and prevented his work from falling into obscurity.
I hear this OST... and my memories comes back... this was my first Touhou Game because i heard about a thing called "Marisa Stole Precious Thing"... and the rest is history...
I learned about touhou from Osu! maps. I just had some tracks and decided to watch on TH-cam. I listened ost's and was shocked how many songs i already know. People are so beautiful coz their fantasy is incredible. So many covers and music with vocals has made. (sry for English if it was not correct, but i said what i feeling).

Just got into Touhou from a random meme i saw. My friend was kind enough to get me 6-13 to try them out.
Just started playing today and the animation, gamplay and especially the ost are absolutely outstanding!

this is still my favorite touhou game, it just marks the beginning of future games, also the music I love so much (my favorites from eosd are the young descendant of tepes, maid and the pocket watch of blood, scarlet beyond a crimson dream, voile the magic library, crimson Belvedere, septette for the dead princess, chinese tea, lunate elf, and the centennial festival for magical girls.) eosd is just so important to me, I remember back when i was a ut (undertale) fan, i saw that bad apple version of it like 5 or 4 years ago, i did know it was some anime (not actually an anime) or game styled thing, but never really bothered to witness the orignal bad apple. Fast forward to that one video I watched with the pc98 time settings thing (where they change the date or something) and I heard un owen was her, i saw the name of the song from the comments and went to a seperate vid of the actual theme. I thought flan looked familiar and I thought of a character, so I went to the original bad apple, whaddya know I realized it said that they were both from touhou. i knew flan had to be the girl with those “wings” from bad apple. now it’s been a few years, getting into the lore and music of the games was just so fun, just seeing what new stuff zun makes nowadays. I can’t believe this just got me into 2hu because of flandere and ut. How time flies…
Sounds like I should start playing the Touhou series then, I love the music so far.

Man I love this game, i started playing it like a week ago and really got me, it's my first Touhou game and I enjoy playing it
i still find myself coming back to this ost, idk something about it just makes me calm and happy, every time i hear that beginning song i just cry, you touhou folks are awesome man:)

Shit, I've only beaten this game on easy, I mean it's been a while but still.
Even though I play this game very scarcely and don't enjoy it as much as those that follow, the soundtrack really stands out. This atmosphere was never to be touched again ; a Western aristocratic style with a hint of modernity perfectly suited for the Scarlet Devil. Iconic in every way.

Just started playing Touhou. This is my first game in the series like a lot of people, and I'm only playing on easy mode until I beat it. I haven't gotten to Remilia's stage yet, Sakuya's kinda tough. I've decided to only play the next Touhou game when I've beaten this one on at least Hard mode. This game's really fun! And of course, the music is amazing too, just like any Touhou game.

I always play on Lunatic. I played Touhou 8 first because my friend said it'd be good to start me out, at first it was so hard but now I tear it up on lunatic. The games have such amazing soundtracks that add such an amazing atmosphere.

@@pharfaduke fair, I didn't like Lunate Elf as much at the start but it grew on me after many 1cc attempts (yes I did it... 2-3 weeks ago) and if we're mentioning least favorites, The Maid and the Pocket Watch of Blood would be mine, The Young Descendant of Tepes in close second (mostly from PTSD of 3 and a half hours of practice mode stage 6)

ZUN is truely a madlad. He made his music but instead of advertising is like a normie, he achieved legendary status and made video games for his music! In all seriousness, whether he forsaw this or not, he cemented and prevented his work from falling into obscurity.
It was my first Touhou game almost year ago. I will be back here after beating some more. I completed only 6 and 7, without extra boss.

I learned about touhou from Osu! maps. I just had some tracks and decided to watch on TH-cam. I listened ost's and was shocked how many songs i already know. People are so beautiful coz their fantasy is incredible. So many covers and music with vocals has made. (sry for English if it was not correct, but i said what i feeling).
And ost of EoSD is my favorite i think.
