June previously recorded a version of The Band Played Waltzing Matilda, another Eric Boyle song.

Who never fought in any war and wrote these songs decades after WWII let alone WWI, just as he did with The Band Played Waltzing Matilda. Sure the Vietnam War was protest worthy, and WWI was similarly a foolish war over a situation that should have been solved diplomatically, but even then, Germany did attack France in WWI and that is a little close to the UK to simply be ignored. And in between should they also simply have said 'not our problem?' when Germany tried again to expand in WWII? Despite the absolute clear *wrong* of their philosophy at the time?
Peace is always the goal, but not at literally any cost. And sometimes one must fight back, since history has proven there sadly are worse things even than war, and also sadly, that simply talking about peace alone does not ensure it.

Looking forward to seeing June in October 2024 in London. If and when she sings this my tears will flow. One grandfather killed in 1915, another scarred by his experiences in the Royal Medical Corps. Grandmother left to bring up my father alone. Fvck you warmongers warmongers
