The bombers were nerfed. No way the warbirds would win. One pass, then the bombers would be gone and the birds would not be able to catch up. Plus, the bombers' tail guns.
Love ya Kortana! 🥰 You do come across as one of the more Proficient & Professional member of the motley crew that make up the Grim Reaper gang 🤣 .. 😉.. 👍 *PS* I'd love to hear more about *The Kortana Gang*
It's a pseudo-secret crew called "FLIGHT CLUB". Many of the members are pilots IRL. The focus is DCS warbirds, but also lots of other stuff in DCS, and other sims too. It's been so much fun to be able to fly with GR lately!
That last jet - it's kinda like when you have all the chess pieces against the King and he is outrunning you all over the place and you can't checkmate him.
3 points: Avgas has a duel rating for octane 115-145. 115 when set lean and 145 when full rich mixture. B-52 damage model needs to be checked. Where is the tail gun on the B-52, A to G model quad 50, H model Vulcan.
I have reached a conclusion about this new type of contest. I LIKE it!🤟🖖🤜💥🤛 I wanna see more like this. I think the addition of Kortana bringing some of her own pilots is awesome. It seems to add depth to the combat, because, well, Kortana lol. 🤟🖤🖤

The only propeller-driven plane to go faster than 500 knots is (allegedly) the XF-84H "Thunderscreech," which (supposedly) went 541.37 kt. This was never officially recognized, as the maximum official speed in testing was 451.87 kt
*after vigourous online review and research* Grumman FF "Fifi" were the first retractable landing gear aircraft introduced in early 1931, however they were biplanes. Polikarpov I-16 were the first lower monoplane retractable landing gear aircraft also introduced in late 1933. Great pull Kortana.
The B-52 series had a tail-gun station until the post-Cold War B-52H. The B-52 is the largest aircraft credited with air-to-air kills (Vietnam War ... definitely Cold War Era). Had Grim Reapers employed a B-52G (Cold Warrior model) rather than the B-52H (post-Cold War model) it is _highly_ likely GR would have suffered numerous losses in their warbirds versus the unescorted bomber fleet. Also, it appears that DCS has not modeled the B-52 very well given how quickly they were disintegrated by the WW2 fighters. Finally, with a service ceiling of 50K feet, a maximum speed of 550Kn and a cruising speed of 450Kn, the WW2 Warbirds would have never even sniffed the BUFF. Your "proof of concept" could only work in a computer game.
If the Stratofortresses were actually in the stratosphere... The irony of German war birds, versus F86 and Mig 15. Both are continuations of Kurt Tank's (German) T183.
There is always one thing every Grim Reapers DCS video has in common. They either have crazy nonsense like two AC-130s "dogfighting," or one pilot crashes early on, not necessarily on camera.
Too bad DCS doesn't have a good P-47N, the hi-altitude capacities are better than any Corsair, Mustang, probably even a Ta-152. -Those custom scenarios are soooo interesting, keep it up!
"Everyone is an armchair critic" - yea - and if I may? When you guys were 3 on 1 to that F-86 in a continuous circle .... have one warbird do a high yo-yo coming off the top, or a low and engage him on the climb. His wing loading won't let him sustain a g-load as much as the better turn rate of the warbirds at lower speeds.
as I havent found another means of sending a message, and I may be severely hung over, I thought I'd ask here... is the F111 in DCS? What about the F4U Corsair? thanks!
Having watched the video, what speed did you have programmed for the B-52's? It appears they might have been modeled on the slow side. In their low-level penetrator role, they would fly at 450 to 475 knots, which would make it exceedingly difficult for WW2 era piston fighters to intercept, let alone make maintain a stern curve of pursuit. Factor in the bombers' defensive armament, that part of the sky would be a very unhealthy place to be for any length of time.
A 1950s era B-52 didn't have a low-level penetrator role; the whole point of the design was that they could fly above anything that might try to hurt them. Of course, that would make it a _little_ difficult for a WWII prop plane to intercept, so...

Glad you got some abx for the chest Cap - Did they tell you not to drink? I would expect you to have been given Amoxicillin or ampicillin tds for a week, or maybe a cefalosporin. The only Antibiotic you really cannot drink whilst taking is metronidazole (and you REALLY shouldnt...) which I would find extremely unlikely to be used for a chest infection.,
Surprised at the comment early on about the Mossie being too slow? Would have been nice to see the Mossie in there against the aircraft designed as it's replacement, the Canberra. Not sure if the latter is available in DCS though?
Bwahahaha! That's funny, I'm gonna raz them over that... One of their call signs is "Olds" the other is "Ketchup", they were flying in a pair. Olds was letting Ketchup know he was in position in combat spread. Still funny.
just on general principles, the answer should be NO. the point is, the jets should be faster, but maybe less maneuverable. therefore, you have to use appropriate tactics (zoom and boom), and it is always the faster plane that can define the engagement defending bombers, you will not be able to do close escort. advance sweeps by the fighters will be needed it also seems wrong that the B-52s just blow up as soon as an enemy fighter sneezes near them. Don't they have guns and armour?
Someone broke in my house stole my gaming PC. Took my thrustmaster joystick paddles everything. What really hurt my heart they stole my warm medals. It had to be a druggie. Did the B52s have tail guns?
B52 has a ceiling height of 50k feet. about 10k higher than the ceiling height of most warbirds. there you go mission complete
Also has radar-directed quad-fifty tail guns. Where are those?

Agree, especially with the tail guns. Guns were replaced with ECM against missiles. Guns were for fighter defense, as seen here.
That b52 is kind of the modern one, guns removed.

Random thought. Strb90 vs Iranian gunboats!
Cannonball for the win in the F-86!!!!
