  • In this video, I break down what I like and dislike about two different styles of Wicing throwing spikes. I throw them each half spin, full spin, and no spin. #knifethrowingskills #knifethrowing #throwingknives

    They both look good.
    Solid, too.
I just broke my hand carvec CS Bushman handle today, throwing it with handle. 😭

@@ARAW-__- Is that the one that looks like a long spear when attached to the handle? If so, I thought about purchasing one a while back but I imagined it would not hold up over time and usage. Did the knife break or the handle/rod?

Ah, an excellent video, my friend! Very good throwing, and I imagine it may prove helpful to folks who may happen by, if they're trying to decide which knife would suit them best. 👍👍 I recently designed a shuriken which is much like a modern throwing knife, and you may find it interesting; it's in the last two shorts I did. It's based on a historical shuriken, but with a little bit of interpretation. It might act as a good gateway blade, for knife throwers who find themselves getting interested in Shuriken.

@@TheShurikenZone Thank you. If I can be of help, I certainly will. I will check out your shorts. I saw your comment under Adam Celleden’s post asking about the Shiriken in the photo. I’ll have to purchase a couple of Shuriken’s to see how I like them.

@@BACKYARDLUMBERJACK Oh, aye- I always always keep an eye out for shuriken content. And you should hasolutely give shuriken a try; because they are smaller and lighter, they can be more difficult to throw, which makes them excellent training for knife throwing. As for where to get shuriken, if you want something good, but also the best deal- Iga Tengu. The face place is where you can get in touch with him, and if you do decide to drop him a line, you can tell him that I sent you. 👍👍

@@TheShurikenZoneGood to know. I appreciate you giving me a direct contact for when I’m ready to purchase Shuriken. I’ll try to construct a makeshift Shuriken first.

@BACKYARDLUMBERJACK Oh, making your own shuriken is a fantastic way to go. Heck, you can see me throwing all sorts of unmodified household items, so even if you just modify something a little bit, you'll come up with something very serviceable. Adam Celadin has a video about modifying large nails for throwing. And I have made a Russian friend, via YT, who has really taken to shurikenjutsu, and is doing some really excellent throwing, all with improvised/homemade shuriken. That's probably the best way to start, honestly. That way, you can start with something that's maybe slightly larger than most historical shuriken, to ease your way into it. 👍👍 The real advantage to shuriken is their portability and relative ease of manufacture.

@@TheShurikenZone Thank you for the advice. There was a video I watched where Adam Celleden did a video where he was being taught the Skanf throwing style created by the late Yuri Fedin. His daughter was actually in the video too and she throws well herself. The style of knife the used looked to be akin to Shuriken. Are you familiar with the Skanf style of throwing? If so, what are your thoughts on it.
