    I put my gsxs 1000f into the shop recently to get a service, and they gave me the keys to one of these for the day as a courtesy bike. Long story short, it was fantastic to ride, the old mt09 is a blunt instrument compared to this. Surprised to hear that Troy didn’t like the way the bike responded to rolling on from a closed throttle, I thought it was perfect, coming into a roundabout, tipping it in rolling off throttle then back on as you stand it up the bike didn’t pitch forward or lurch back, just let you find a line and follow it smoothly. The cruise control was easy to work out on the fly without having read the manual, but buggered if I know what the rest of the buttons do. If I was in the market for a replacement sporty commuter / tourer this would be high on the list.

    My Shoei RF1400 in medium fits perfectly in the side case. You have to put it in upside down and with the front of the helmet facing the back of the bike. I have had my Tracer 9 GT for 2.5 months and have put over 3k on it all ready and have zero regrets buying it!

    2 years ago I got a 2019 demo Tracer with 80 miles for $8500 and about $10k out the door after tax and fees. I am really glad I got one when they were still a great bang-for-the buck. The new features are neat, but at $15k list and likely $17k OTD the bargain is gone. It will be a great bike for a lot of people, but will be out of range for its previous audience. It is good to see old FJ09s holding their value. They were a great bike even without quick shift or the game console where the speedo ought to be.

      I see your point but it’s partly on the consumer as well most people want the bells and whistles when shelling out for a new bike. I had a 2013 FZ6R and it was an awesome bike for the price and would love a T9 if Yamaha ever made one.

      Absolutely!
      The previous generation GT has it all without those ‘Scuba Steve’ clocks which are mostly unreadable…
      Exhaust outlets pointing downward below the bike will take in water at the very first chance… 🤔 maybe it is a Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus 😝🤣😂😁

      This is the new reality. Someone I know that is quite savvy when it comes to finance and money said "It's going to be just like living in Europe". My wife is from France and is actually there right now. Most Americans have no idea how cheap our lives were compared to most other markets. When I first learned what they paid for things like a liter of oil or a battery I was shocked. That's where we are headed in a hurry and then everything will shrink as disposable income fails to go as far. This won't be a huge market anymore and unit price will go up. In 30 years I don't think you'll recognize the U.S. I don't recognize it now.

      I'm with ya. I've got a 2013 FJR1300a, and now am approaching 63,000 miles. It had less than 2900 miles on it when I bought it. I'm 62 years old and feel like I have some touring trips left in me, but am considering something a little bit lighter, just for a change. I've been looking at these reviews for a while too. One thing........ I'm dyed-in-wool when it comes to the Yamaha brand. I've had 6 Yamaha's in the 44 years I've been riding, and love the way they do things. My first was a 1978 XS400, then a 1976 RD400, then an 81 Seca 750, two different FJ1200's 86, and 89, and my 2013 FJR. I've often wondered if Yamaha would ever come out with an inline 6 bike to put head to head against the BMWK1600, and the Wing. I think Yamaha could seize the market. The G-Wing and the K1600 are different from one another, and I can imagine Yamaha coming out with a bike that splits the two and takes both markets.
      They've proven with the FJR that they can build comfort, performance and utility into a machine. BMW especially, in my opinion needs someone to put them in their place. The K1600 is a maintenance pig, and I think over-rated. I've just never been impressed with bling of any kind, whether the chrome tank Harleys or pretty Beemers that break down.

      @alp3781 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@letitrest4662 You are spot on on all the above. I had owned 2 K16 and I swear, money pit. Great machines, if they don't break. And, if the dealer is far, forget it. One was Grand America, new back in 18. Boy, After reaching 15K, just problems and problems. The bike wobbled at high speeds, steered to the left a bit, God helped me, if I was in the back of a large truck. One day, the engine cut off on me at 65 MPH. Reverse clutch was horrible. I got tired and sold it. Now, I ride 2020 Goldwing DCT Tour since new. Nothing but pleasure. The best machine I have owned so far. I am not an HD type of guy and will never ever owned one. I hope too, seeing Yamaha or Ducati coming out with a bike like the GW.

    Its like the fj09, and the deal breaker was the gearing was NOT good for touring. And invasive computer features. Have to turn off the abs and traction each time you ride. At 80mph the motor winding out WAY too high for hwy miles even hurting gas millage . The seat was like a 2x6 and was not a touring bike at all. 2hrs in the saddle and you need a break from the high vibration from the HIGH revving engine.

    • @veljkovic92
      @veljkovic92 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'll try to answer from my personal experience...
      Having a two big/wide side cases that make getting on or off the bike more challenging as well as filtering through the traffic, often has a sense when you can actually put your helmet (and the pillion helmet, since this bike is made for two up comfortable touring) in it. Usually, I did use side cases a lot whenever me and my gf go somewhere and stop for a walk, for example. Than we can both put the helmets inside without carrying them or thinking about them staying on the bike. That's not to mention the additional clothes, a jacket, food, etc...
      Those big side cases on this Tracer should need to have space for a helmet or their use would be not so useful in my case. 👍

    Here's how petty I am: I'd never buy a motorcycle with asymmetrical lighting.

    Theres trouble brewing for every motorcycle manufacturer. 20 years ago, we had bikes roughly comparable (maybe better) to this (Honda 929/954/VFR comes to mind). Today these bikes are a little tired, but a quick freshening up with new rubber and payment to the gods of suspension and maintenance. On the high end you'd be in the $6000 dollar range totally done, a little more for things like lowered pegs, bigger windscreens, and luggage.
    Bikes from this bygone era are plenty reliable even today if treated with a modicum of respect. It doesn't look any better, it doesn't perform any better in 99% of conditions, so is that electronics package worth 9k???
    (I do wish those old bikes had ABS, though)
    Contrast this to the car industry. Cars 20 years ago were pretty crap, and the nice ones have turned to crap. On top of that new electric offerings from all the manufacturers are selling like hotcakes. I'll be towing my 2004 CBR600 F4i with my 2023(?) Ford Lightning, lol.

      Uh have you ridden newer bikes?
      Sorry to say but bikes from the 2000's dont hold a candle to their 2020 counterparts
      Also quickshifters and cruise control are simply the bomb if you do serious milage.
      Add on top of that heated grips/seat (if you want it) + a bunch of rider aids. Yeah newer bikes are just plain better

    • @pgbpro20
      @pgbpro20 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The aftermarket has had good solutions for most of what you've covered and has had so for a long time.
      Exception are those rider aids and up/down quick shifter. I think that's great but... it's a matter of what those features are worth to you personally.
      I still need saddle time in something made after 2014, I might find something else to fall in love with that can't be shown on a spec sheet.

    The Tracer 900 GT was hard to look at, no matter how competent it was. Yamaha managed to take that model and make it fuglier w/the T9GT. And the MSRP? Laughable. No thanks.

      Quite a few differences. Suspension F&R, seat config, weight, electronics, features, wind protection... Worth a few thousand more if you're going to be on the bike a lot. Different purposes. But tossing bags, a "comfort" seat (factory option), and a windshield on an MT 09 would probably be pretty awesome for day trips.

      @@allwheeldrive My point was that it’s an accessorized MT 09. The frame, engine, exhaust, dash, etc. are identical. Yes, there’s enough there to make it a “different” bike for sure, but you can clearly see the MT 09 front and center.

      Wow lol
      Maybe on a big fat highway
      When doing fast riding on smaller roads the concours will be like riding a two wheeled bus.
      I'v gone from a 190BHP (tuned) VFR 1200F to the Tracer
      The tracer is faster in ALL situations except acceleration above 100kmh or top speed.
      How often do you need to go faster than 250kmh?
      + Quickshifter / Cruise control / Rider aids is very much welcome coming from a dinosaur like the VFR.
