- In this video I explore a new skill set - power carving. I have never tried something like this before and this video documents the entire journey. There were no test pieces, scrap options, this was it!
There's so much to say so I'll try to move it along. This wood was given to me from a local retailer and was the perfect opportunity to try something new. I have been inspired by Daniel Nguyen for YEARS and always wanted to try my hand at something like this.

I really enjoyed watching the process!! You did an incredible job! 🙌🏽 my grandpa and my uncle are both carpenters and as I grew up, I used to watch them work and put wood together and creating chairs , doors, windows etc.( with more “traditional “ utensils tho 😄) and now watching this video was really satisfying and brought back a lot of good memories. Great job! I like the filled in parts- it added to the contrast! Wish you flipped the piece to show the yellow side as well! This would look amazing suspended from the ceiling as an art piece with lighting tucked behind it !

Really like the rough shape of the piece at 5:24 when you watered it. I would have left it at that point with minor touches. The yellow, not to my liking. Thanks for sharing!
Now that it’s been a few years I was wondering did you ever have to Reapply the Finish or is it good indefinitely?
How much does it weigh? I was thinking between 35-45? 🤷♂️

Hello, I come from instagram and you don't know how I loved this video but I have a big doubt, was it water what you threw on the wood? I thought that could damage it or is it to be able to work better with it?

No damage. Often times between sanding grits but especially before a finish sanding and applying oil you'll water pop the wood which raises the grain and hopes for a smoother finish.
