I never got much of the back story on the split when MIke went to the US. My feeling was that Edd didn't want to follow. How did it come to the idea that Mike was unfair to Edd? I think Mike made the whole show.

Mike is like a nodding dog in the rear window. Mildly entertaining for a short while, but you soon get bored with him. Edd China made the show into the success it became.
In a world of zombie type TV personalities Mike is so unique in his charisma and upbeat charm... we need him even without the great Edd China.
I couldn't agree more. Judging by the comments, there are a lot of shit heads out there that don't appreciate him. I don't quite understand why that should be. I think he's more than half the show now that Edd is gone. Edd was truly an asset, and not a camera hog like Ant. Ant was all the time hanging all over Mike and smiling with all those teeth. Gave me a big pain in the ass. Elvis seems good. I haven't seen him much yet. I've been lax in my obligatory WD viewing. I aim to catch up.
He plays his role well and looks like William Shatner. I guess a lot of shallow people out there disliking him based on his looks, making up reasons to hate. Simon Cowell Syndrome. If he acts like a "used car salesman" that's exactly what he is supposed to be doing....the title of the show gives it away but many too thick to get it, even though the premise is explained in the beginning and end of literally every single episode.
Been looking for one I saw a white one for $9,000 but needs to be restored.I am still looking for one in Green or Blue Auto transmission

why just start the car and then off you want to hear it cold start up, run untill normal running temp and not over heat etc have to say a so called rebuilt engine shouldnt smoke or have gearbox issues
Do you want a MK2 That has an engine that can be started? If you do forget about a 10K price. Maybe you could buy 2 that are about to go into the crusher to become scrap metal MK2s and maybe combine the good parts of both of them

As much as Mike is a bit like marmite, either you love him or hate him, he does have his own used car garage and has been in the business most of his life. Also, the show often spins it that Mike isn't good with mechanics, which actually isn't the case.
