I bought a Auto 3.4 Mk 2 Jag in 1973 off a dealer in Rotherham for £250 ,in British racing green . Just got a new Mrs. and I bought the car to impress her after a flurry of small family cars apart from a Triumph tr 2 which was a 1952/3 & a 1959 Rover 90 ,I bought for £50 . Run the Jag for 4 years ,going to the cars & motorcycle shows in London and holidays in it ,super comfortable and quick ,but not good on petrol for a lad in his 20s . The head gasket went and I bought a Wolseley 6110 3 litre off the local funeral directors ,so the Jag ended - up on the local dump ,keys in the ignition & hood ornement still on the bonnet - I just walked away and left it . The reg. would be worth a small fortune now ,kids eh ! .

It isn't a MK2. After 1967, the model was cheapened and called the Jaguar 240 or 340. The clues are the ICI Ambla (vinyl) seats, horn griiles instead of foglamps, plastic top roll on the dash, thinner bumpers and a lot less wood. Same mechanics but not the same quality and finish as a MKII. Surprised the 'experts' didn't know that.

My father bought a brand new 3.4 Mk2 in 1965 EUY355C I even remember the number plate and I still have the original tool kit from it. The Mk2 , like my dads had much larger bumpers and I thought the narrow bumpers were for the 2.4 version or was it the later 240/340 as a cost saving exercise but I may be wrong. I can remember going to the garage before it was registered just to smell the cream leather and look at the metallic maroon bodywork. It had a heated rear window one of the first cars at the time. Exhausts were very expensive and the engine had to be dropped to change a clutch which meant the front suspension off. Very expensive to maintain and 18 to the gallon if you were lucky and using overdrive. Magnificent engine and I drove it on Pendine Sands and for its day it was quick once it got going. I think , but may not be correct , that this is the small engined 2.4 as it had no fog lamps but couldn't see the exhaust to be sure. Dont agree with the changes they were talking about. A close friend had the Daimler 2.5 version. More rare but I would go for the Jag every time. Sadly it was traded in for a new bright yellow Vauxhall Ventora! The Jag needed a new clutch and exhaust system and we got the princely sum of £220. if only we had left it in the garage.
The MkII also had these bumpers from 1967 onwards. They were cheaper and called a 240 or 340, depending on the engine size. This is such a later (and cheaper) car.
Love this car had one when living in Wiltshire the twin tanks used to spook me as the other quirky thing was the small tap like release on the right side of the engine to drain off oil you had to check that tap regularly to see if it was closed otherwise?..smooth as butter but had to have my buddy chip in for petrol when we did London looking back don't know how we did it!?
Not a Mk 2, it's a 240 or 340 built after Jaguar were taken over by BMC (Later British Leyland) lots of stuff was cheapened by BMC, thinner bumpers, vinyl seats instead of leather, and lots of other small changes which degraded a beautiful car.

It was a Jaguar 240 - the later, desperate slightly upgraded Mk 2. What they did to it attracted the right buyer and they made a profit, fine but there's something about small men....
......and the guy the supposedly bought it from was...a used car dealer, a secies who of course are well known for generously letting stock go for half their market value.
Good, bad, indifferent or awful this is just going over old ground thats been covered so many times it gets boring.I watched wheeler dealers years back and the difference was with Ed China you got some mechanical instruction. This one shows somebody upholstering a seat or a fancy expensive paint job and that is your lot.The cars being restored never change. Its your usual Mk 2 jag, mini, stag or landie.Time somebody found a new concept to this type of show as its all been done a thousand times b4.Ps Mike Brewer was annoying but this ginger gnome takes it to a whole new level.
Always been my favourite car, untill my 1998 2.5 TDI Range Rover with the BMW engine. I love that Jag. BUT I would love to buy the moggie 100 estate that was next to it in the garage.
240s are going for 20 k in a 1 condition nice quick car has the strait port etype head on them 133 bhp in the 60s was quick to a Cortina with about 40 bhp I know wot I would choose
To replace the headlining carpets and wooden furniture would be a kings ransome . The leather upholstery would be priceless to restore . and then to put non standard bits on it like louvered bonnet would be the first thing anybody would take off again. as for rechroming the bumpers .....forget it . HSE have put paid to all the rechromers in this country and the only thing to do is to have stainless ones made in Vietnam albeit at an exhorbitant cost. Stick to the antique armchairs Drew
I'm enjoying another chance to see this very programme at the moment. When the host offers just 10 grand for it why doesn't the owner say that you're a television programme financed by all those adverts so you don't need to make any sort of 'profit'?

".....`But its only a poang billybob fibreboard cheapy £39.99 aisle 8 says the rather attractive tight trousered, yellow jumpered female assistant......" Get the van `T` they`ve got dozens of `em" ....
A very disappointing series, especially when the likes of Fuzz Townsend on Car SOS do it so much better. Obviously his search for antiques and scrap has come to an end, and whoever thought another classic car series would be advisable, were wrong. Its very poorly made.
On top wing mirrors too, so much easier to see behind than door mirrors any day, do MK 2s had overdrives as standard or where they optional like the MK1 models? at least the MK1 was Brilliant to drive in the dry in the wet even with Dunlop sp41 tyres expensive good but very short life still you'd loose the back so easy expensive spare parts not the most reliable But if i could i would still buy one tomorrow even with the very unreliable overdrive

Cringe. Evidently, and sadly, being another plebeian second-hand dealer, more focused on money than creativity, Drew knows absolutely Sweet Fanny Adams about cars, especially Jaguars Mk2's or, also evidently, how to drive or restore them.
If the car is as good as claimed they are fools not to do a full restoration over resto-modding it for the quick-quid. Glad I didn't have to watch them cutting into this 340. Jerx.!
The thin bumpers give away the fact that it's not a 'real' Mk2 regardless of the badge on the boot lid. It's probably a 240. This is junk TV at it's worst.
Tell it as it is wide boys out to make a profit. Nothing wrong with that ( but don"t do it under the guise of salvage hunters, like they are looking out for our heritage)
This is rubbish the guy selling it for that price is mad but what bugs me the most is all of our old cars are full of rust at that age mostly down to salt on our roads but if you live in parts of the US you can pick up a almost rust free car/truck for between 3k and 6k I remember back in the 1960s buying cars only three years old with rust holes in them.
i bet that gavin with the tattoes the restorer, hes a nice guy .has knocked him round the carpark a few times ,none off his staff liked him his misses did one in the end with the dogs ,and the credit cards .
Why take a perfectly good car of that age that only needs the internals fixed and modify it? Why can't you leave it as it was originally? Talk about wasting old vehicles just to make some cash. These people have no respect for vehicles that have lasted for years, instead they butcher them! Disgracefull!

I had one of these in the early 70s cost me £500 sold it for £150 bloody ell, wish I had it now!
Has Drew given up on antiques for this season? I haven't found the full eps yet, & all the clips on YT are about cars.
Finally, an honest opinion of Ferrari. Drove one recently, panel gaps like a cheap shed.
Ferrari, Look Crap & drive even worse.
Car seller looks like a younger Ron Atkinson
It was a Jaguar 240 - the later, desperate slightly upgraded Mk 2. What they did to it attracted the right buyer and they made a profit, fine but there's something about small men....
Jag mk 2's are classic motors, for genuine car enthusiasts, think you should stick to your fancy lights and table lamps.
......and the guy the supposedly bought it from was...a used car dealer, a secies who of course are well known for generously letting stock go for half their market value.
Lost his Marbles by selling that car.
Timber😲 try exotic burl wood mate!
Ah now I remember him , has a furniture place in North Wales . little twat
IT is not a Mk2!!!! look at the front bumper, this is a 340.
Didnt he get barred from all the pubs in his hometown for fighting?
To replace the headlining carpets and wooden furniture would be a kings ransome . The leather upholstery would be priceless to restore . and then to put non standard bits on it like louvered bonnet would be the first thing anybody would take off again. as for rechroming the bumpers .....forget it . HSE have put paid to all the rechromers in this country and the only thing to do is to have stainless ones made in Vietnam albeit at an exhorbitant cost. Stick to the antique armchairs Drew
I come form the Black Country and there are still platers that chrome as its not just used on cars.
I'm enjoying another chance to see this very programme at the moment.
When the host offers just 10 grand for it why doesn't the owner say that you're a television programme financed by all those adverts so you don't need to make any sort of 'profit'?
Give me a shot interior over body cancer any day. The insides normally get replaced anyway
Putting 'Coomb's' bonnet vents on a gutless 240 automatic! The least desirable MK2 😂
this is sick drew hasnt got a clue he should move in with tin shaw ,this is two blokes trying to make it work and it doesnt ,wayne corrini would knock them both out .they wouldnt know a cut and shut or a ringer if i showed them ,this is like loui spence or dale winton ,talking about body building ,..
Pair of knobs. Tarting up rust buckets, sod all servicing
Mk 2 became 240 and 340 in 1967. This is not a Mk 2! Single bumpers are an obvious clue.
Drew goes into ikea and says, "its a lovely lovely piece, this is why we do what we do...I`ll give you £950 for the chair ? ".....`But its only a poang billybob fibreboard cheapy £39.99 aisle 8 says the rather attractive tight trousered, yellow jumpered female assistant......" Get the van `T` they`ve got dozens of `em" ....
HA HA - Brilliant!
A very disappointing series, especially when the likes of Fuzz Townsend on Car SOS do it so much better.
Obviously his search for antiques and scrap has come to an end, and whoever thought another classic car series would be advisable, were wrong.
Its very poorly made.
Peter Lewis
You're so right him and this series are shite
Car SOS. The only thing that spoils that is that tall big shit Tim Shaw. He is so full of himself.
MK11 my first car . Xmas present when I was 16 so we where the same age .
THIS IS A 240 or a
340,, NOT a Mk. 2.
Look at the thin bumpers, you can tell.!!
Exactly. Dead easy.
Bellissime AUTO D EPOCA ..😍😍
It's a 340 ....but Drew's ruined it by painting the bumpers black .a cheap fix
this show doesnt work .drew should go and live with mike brewer ,they could spend all day talking shit . bring back edd or fuzz or ants any day ..or wayne correeni.. drew wouldnt know a straight car from a repaired rite off ...
Really well put mate
Not Fuzz ffs
As long as Tim shaw don't come into it. Please please not that idiot.
Stick to finding old junk and selling it for loads,He aint a clue about cars and wheeler dealers isnt much better 😂
Stecozz what's wrong with ed
@@KKTR3 edd left cos wheelers dealers lost the plot...plus brewers a knobend
@@shadfaquir4873 Mike did if he did all the good selling but at many times he did a poor job selling so that Edd did all the work for peanuts "we are in the money" with a 500 pound profit after 50 hours of labour. That happened not a few but many times.
@@markvanderwel7182 Its all for tv. Its like that bid twat shaw on car sos. Or as he days. Car sausage. That says it all about the idiot. I could smack him a look at him.
Mark van der Wel ring ring smell the coffee man , all that side is make believe
Do you really think what they made was Eddies butter for his bread 'unbelievable'
I like the programme for the cars. But no way do car dealers drop prices that quick for Drew. With Classics its a dealers market. The buyer pays through the nose.
It will be a TOTAL SET UP. TV is ALL 100% Set up Fake.
They might call it reality television but there's nothing real about it. It's all well-rehearsed including the prices.
we love the show in oz
Not surprised!
do you only mess with RHD ?
Cringe. Evidently, and sadly, being another plebeian second-hand dealer, more focused on money than creativity, Drew knows absolutely Sweet Fanny Adams about cars, especially Jaguars Mk2's or, also evidently, how to drive or restore them.
Liked the antique show better, especially the one where he got a fake masterpiece stuck right up his arse at an auction and went bankrupt.
What about the 'crows feet' ??
If the car is as good as claimed they are fools not to do a full restoration over resto-modding it for the quick-quid.
Glad I didn't have to watch them cutting into this 340. Jerx.!
It’s not a mk2 but a 240
Exactly
them bonnet straps suck
The thin bumpers give away the fact that it's not a 'real' Mk2 regardless of the badge on the boot lid. It's probably a 240. This is junk TV at it's worst.
That’s a 340 !
Tell it as it is wide boys out to make a profit. Nothing wrong with that ( but don"t do it under the guise of salvage hunters, like they are looking out for our heritage)
HERITAGE DESTROYERS. 2 nutcases out on a MAD DAY OUT.
It's a 340. Stick to buying and selling junk m8 LOL
A DREW PIACE il colore VERDE .. Lo sceglie sempre 👍🙌
I owned a '58' Jag, brillant car & fast for it's day.
3 year old with rust !!!!.
Most were rusting on the show room floor.
ALFA SUD. Rusting away before it even got to the dealer.
i bet that gavin with the tattoes the restorer, hes a nice guy .has knocked him round the carpark a few times ,none off his staff liked him his misses did one in the end with the dogs ,and the credit cards .
Methinks this is a mk2 as S type has different back end in appearance
Why take a perfectly good car of that age that only needs the internals fixed and modify it? Why can't you leave it as it was originally? Talk about wasting old vehicles just to make some cash. These people have no respect for vehicles that have lasted for years, instead they butcher them! Disgracefull!
Jaaaaaaaaaaggggg
Flirting outrageously with the waitress all night in front of his wife. But its OK because he has a jaaag.
(Jeremy clarkson voice) Jaaaaaaaag!
Find what may be the most perfect rust free original Jag in the country, and immediately tart it up for a fast sale to some twat, spoiling it forever.
I've got say , this is car you can run someone down , because you have jag
should have had wider wire wheels chrome bumpers no straps , as for car sos I THINK THEY GOT CONNED ON THE ASTON IF REAL AT ALL back to drew because I think that I know the red mercedes 280 se 3.5 thats coming up
DREW YOU WHICH, YOU COULD GO AND COLLECT THE PRANCING HORSE, THAT IS WHERE THE REAL MONEY IS?......HOPE YOU ARE LOOKING AFTER MY LITTLE FRIEND ENZO???
How to spoil a mk 2 jag. If you are going to make one look like a coombs. At least do it properly.
Well , I'm going to be the odd one out , I like Drew and what he did to the Mk2 .
The slaphead got a deal I'd made him pay 12k!The seller was too easy probably pre arranged not many dealers drop 2.5k....
Drew couldn’t act the Bolix
