on the good side, in 1995, 14 gray wolves were released in Yellowstone national park (they did once exist there, so it was a reintroduction after they were killed off in 1926) they helped control the over populated elk, which were destroying a lot of the trees and vegetation, leading to other species such as beavers to decline in population... their return has helped Yellowstone in a LOT of ways, and also provided a lot of information for scientists to study. granted there are still some in surrounding areas that don't like wolves and fear the wolves will now get out of control, but 29 years later it seems to be very positive according to anything i've seen or read about it.
I hope the guy who told them not to got to say, "Damn fools! I told you so!" What's worse, it's mostly illegal for people to deal with these pest animals due to animal protection laws in Australia.
@@karamedley6229 cats dont wipe out entire ecosystems or drive loads of other animals/insects instinct, nor do they export huge amount of other species from one place to a nother in so huge scales that the natural order of evolution cant catch up to/find a way to naturally stop said influxes.... plus cats in nature moves realitivly slow from one area to a nother and they have a lot of natural preditors, even thou there general survival skills against specifically spiders and snakes are higher then other animals(aka why australia of all places would be a place where they can thrive better in the wild then they would other places)....... however if you take humans out of the pictures, feral dogs would maybe snag the second place due to there packbehavior, moveing great distances and in general dirty behavior of rollign in dirt and feces, makeing them move both seeds, bacteria and viruses from one place to a nother.. first place however on a planet without humans has to be snagged by the flying animals such as birds, who if you didnt know has been moveign both seeds and ticks/parasitic insects, virus and bacteria between different places for centuraries and they do have the ability to cross giant oceans, something of whitch no fourlegged creature can... only other animal who cross wide expanses (compared to there own size) are army ants! thou thankfully thats just smaller rivers... else everyone outside of africa would have big problems XD
I wanna say, not just any human type but failed scientist. Lazy gamers don't screw up this bad. Science has the power and support to screw up the world because they are perceived as advance but... It's just another human that can ruin not just their lives like a simple lazy person but ruin the lives of others on a larger scale.
Pythons in the Florida Everglades: the argument stems around the fact that the pythons eat prey animals and affect the food chain, yet hunting them affects the ecology that supports those prey animals. Pythons, former pets released into the wild, are one of the most destructive invasive species known in America. Python hunters can't enter the everglades due to it being a wildlife sanctuary, and hunters have literally chased pythons up to the line and had to let them go due to the snake making it to the safe zone. The resulting protection from human predation has allowed the number of pythons to skyrocket in and around the area. While professional python hunters would need boats, trucks, RVs etc to do their job, none of this can be allowed in a wildlife area, not the resulting litter, chemical spills, toilet sites, etc. Homeless hunters, who turn in just enough snakes for money to eat and afford medication, are worse since their encampments ruin the environment in and around them. A solution has yet to be found that fits everyone's needs so ecologist just don't allow hunting in the Everglades. (Personally, I say build cabins right outside the Everglades and let the homeless people live there in exchange for XXX number of snakes a month. Regular inspections to ensure the cabins are kept in good repair, that trash is being packed out, and that hunters are entering the sanctuary on foot and not via machine, would be the best all-around solution, IMHO. Also, RV pads for professional hunters, who are subject to the same inspections and rules, would be good, too, since professionals tend to have better hunting equipment and success rates.)
I am glad we don't have those toads here. I would love some prickly pear cactus though. My grandma had it scattered on her farm. I have tried to find some, only found the seeds and they don't grow for me.
me: these videos are really cool bro! my thoughts: why did his parents name him froggit? is it because he hated frogs, or did he like frogs only as a child?
video posted 57 minutes ago... already watched the whole thing.. been subscribed to the channel for some time.. still no notification... knowing youtube i'll see the notification tomorrow or not at all. had i not seen the video in my feed i might never know. anyway.. i remember when gypsy moth caterpillars (Lymantria dispar.. now also called "spongy moth" evidently) were covering and killing so many trees in northeast usa, they were everywhere, they'd get in your house, in your cars and build little web nests.. pretty sure they are still a big problem, but i moved south and don't see that much of them so far, hopefully i don't.
Yeah Tell me about it. I live in Queensland and they are terrifying and being poisonous is not great. I have them in my backyard as I am gardening or moving a pot and out they jump. We have to catch them, with gloves on, put them in a container, or plastic bag then into a fridge for a few hours and then into the freezer. On garbage day the frozen carcasses are in thrown into the bin. They are dead. This is a more humane way than some people do. The Keelback snake is the only snake that isn't affected by the cane toad toxins.
You can't really compare the two scenarios, cane toads were brought to Australia for a legitimate problem that backfired badly. Rabbits (and foxes) were brought because English nobles wanted to hunt them for sport, it was pure selfishness that benefited nobody
