I think the Genie is great for single day users. The advantage of having a Magic Key is there is no need to rush to get it all done in a day.

I was at Disney last week for 4 days and was planning on using Genie+ but we discover the list wait time were way off. An example was Web Slinger wait list time was 50 minutes but it took less then 20 minutes, we ended up riding it multiple times. This happened on more than a few rides.
I think that the wait time are sometimes inflated to increase lighting lane purchase.
Also.. I wish Genie+ would let you ride a ride multiple times. Since we have favorites we tend to focus on certain rides

I bought it just for myself…my husband is disabled so there are many rides I enjoy that he physically can’t ride. It was worth it for me not to have him waiting so long while I ride. That being said the LL return line for incredicoaster was all the way back to the posters by Abominal Treats…crazy!!!! We also took advantage of the photo pass aspect of it as well.

I have been so conflicted on whether I should get the Genie plus because I've heard about people only being able to use it for one or two attractions all day. But after watching your video it really seems like the amount of attractions you can get on in a given day with the Genie plus really depends on how you plan the day. I am confident it will be worth it for us. Thanks for the insight and helping us plan our next trip.

  • @caitlynnguyen9520

Genie+ and Lightning Lane can be pretty confusing for us since it's new but once you use it, you'll start to get the hang of it. Sucks we have to pay for it but $20 is not that bad. I think it's so much easier using genie+. My bf and I got to the front of the line for rides within 5 minutes, we barely waited. It made our day so much easier and allowed us more time to relax and eat! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to pass the long waits in line, especially during covid. Waiting in line for 30+ minutes can get tiring, especially when it starts to get hot and stuffy being surrounded by many others. Despite the parks being packed, we did feel a bit safer being able to walk right past everyone, not having to wait next to people so closely for so long. So, skipping the lines was awesome. Doing everything mobily also made everything so much easier without having to walk all the way around the parks. If you don't mind waiting or don't think you'll ride much that day, save your money and just wait in the lines! Waiting for rides is not bad when you time it right during low riding hours.

If you’re going to just Disneyland and are showing up before 8am, you don’t need Genie+. I went on the 17th, stepped into the park late around 8:30am and still managed to ride Space Mountain, Star Tours, Indiana, Pirates and Haunted before the 1PM park hopping time. I stayed till closing and got to get on my favorite rides (all are on Genie+) 2-4 times.

Thx you two! Super useful. We only visit 1 to 3 (when we’re lucky!) times a year, so def seems worth it for us, at least for one day of our trip. We’re only 2 or 3 folks, would’ve been a tough call when our kids were little and we had less money… we did pay for Max Pass in the before times and found it very useful. Of course we didn’t get as many steps in as we had before, those free paper FPs were great for mega exercise ;)

Purchased genie plus yesterday it did save us a lot of time but by the end of the day it became useless. The LL return times became to long I tried to book a ride and the nearest return time was 9:50. And that was at 630. So we bailed. It’s only good for the morning. Also I seen people using lightning lane on rides that had a 15 minute wait what a waste

As much as I really like Radiator Springs, I can't justify the $12 each to ride it. That price seems a bit high for a single ride.
BTW - Thanks very much for the 'real life' testing of the Genie Plus. Websites can only tell you so much while you showed the reality. Luckily (at least in my mind), it does not run too much differently than the MaxPass did.

thanks for this video. i love you guys! we will definitely get genie+, just like we did maxpass. we only get to the parks once every few years so we are ride crushers for sure. it’s disappointing that we can only do each ll attraction once per day using the paid pass, and maxpass allowed users to make a new reservation every 90 minutes instead of 120, but i do like the convenience of avoiding many of the long lines. no individual ll purchases for us, though. we’ll just rope drop and knock them out first thing. 😃

I honestly don't understand how anyone can enjoy Disneyland anymore. It was fun as a teen or kid in the 90s , and my senior school year Disney trip in 1999 was awesome , but I went back with my kids a couple of years ago, spent $700 for tickets + some food, and left within 3 hours. The kids were bored out of thier minds, it was hot and crowded, and standing in lines to even use the bathroom was horrible. The park itself was showing its age too, everything was dirty and grimy with a sea of sweaty, stressed out people all around us.
We left and checked in some random resort hotel and had a blast.
Maybe if Galaxys Edge was based on classic Star Wars and not the terrible new Disney trilogy id go back as I grew up a huge Star Wars nerd, but even then I'd just go alone and not subject my family to the misery and stress.

I wanted to hate it but it almost doubled our rides on our second day when we bought it. It probably doesn’t make sense for regular visitors but for families like us with little ones (limited flexibility) who only visit a couple times a year, it is worth it. Also when you visit less often you’re just a little rusty in the park, so the tips for attractions and dining were really helpful. Again, it’s value will likely be felt more by less frequent visitors and likely less worth it for regulars. Thank you for the video. Very helpful.

I will NEVER buy Genie+ bc you can't ride multiple times. Once you use it, you lose it. Meaning if I want to ride BTM over & over with LL I can't. I can use the LL only Once. Then I have to stand in stand by to ride again. With Maxpass I could ride as many as I could book in a day for a single ride and I could hold different rides at a time. Plus I could add it on to an AP for a flat rate fee which was good all year long. Genie+ is a waste of my money. I won't be getting "Magic Bands" either. Also, why would you buy Radiator Spring Racers for extra $$ when Single Rider is available for that ride for free?

However, we are DVC members and have been to Disney World 3 times in the past 2 years and have not purchased it once and made out just fine. We are ok with standing on 40 to 50 minute lines. This is very informative. Going on our first Disney trip as a family and it was a little confusing on the website. Thank you!!!

Great video! Helping me make decisions for my upcoming trip. I heard that even if you buy Genie+ you still have to buy a la cart LL passes for rides like rise of the resistance and web slingers do you know if that’s true?

This was great. Subscribed to your channel. We're heading to Disney in February and trying to learn everything we can as we plan our trip! Thanks for the videos!

Thanks for tis video! Do you have to use your phone the entire time to scan for Geniet+ or can you use your ticket? Just wondering if I need to buy a holder for either to not pull out of your purse everytime!

If you have a park hopper, but you are checked into DL, can you still book rides in CA? or do you have to be "checked in" to that park?

We used it Thur at CA Adv and Fri and Disney and it was sooooo worth it! We rode everything just about in both parks!
Why would anyone NOT want to spend the extra $20 to skip a 90 min wait time! We rode 3 rides in the time we would have stood in 1 line! But I guess go ahead and keep waiting in those long ass lines lol let’s the rest of us enjoy more time riding!

Such a great review of how the Genie works. Did you need the park hopper as well to go from Disneyland and California Adventure?

Can you or can’t you actually book a genie ride more than once? I keep reading every answer possible.

With it asking you to select park can you change park if you park hop to CA or you have to stay at selected park?

I need a Disneyland map to study before even thinking about going as it’s been so long, I would get lost, lol!

My hubby need to know where you got your hat. He really likes it. Says that there are not “good hats” like that in the parks.

It is SO smart to check the app a few weeks ahead of time to gauge out what the crowds are going to be like.
