If they use an instrument you will see it. It is extremely rare for Voiceplay to use an instrument, but Geoff uses instruments in most of his solo videos. He keeps pure a capella for Voiceplay. Kudos on your reaction.
Thank you for your reaction and returning to Voiceplay 🫶🏻 This was a masterpiece... again 😅🙈 They are the kings of Halloween 👻 The "floor zombie" was Geoff's wife Kathy and the zombie that was kicked away by Layne was a doll they got at a Halloween store 😂 The carrot is a running joke between Layne and J.None 😅 Their songs are mixed by Ed Boyer 👍🏻 Geoff is a great narrator, he has some narrations on his own channel ❤ Would love more VP or Geoff solo stuff for you to react to, you can't go wrong with any of their catalogue 🤷🏻♀️ Did you know that VP is in consideration for a nomination for 2 Grammies this year? Nominations will be announced on 8th Nov. (I think?) for their MJ cover "The way you make me feel" feat. Dejay Young and for "Hellfire" (from the Disney, Hunchback of Notre Dame" ❤
Subbed. Love love love that you get that this isn't karaoke. Voice Play always pays homage to the original but they will always add their own VP spice. Thanks for the reaction. Hellfire just got put up for a Grammy consideration. You should really check it out.
Carrots. According to Layne, his role is to keep everyone off center with relentless teasing. When J None joined them, it suddenly didn't work and J was keeping Layne off balance. Then Layne realized that if he waved a carrot at J None he had no response. It got under his skin. And so Layne became the Carrot Lord... carrots show up EVERYWHERE. Definitely when J None joins them, but other times too. Carrots are even on some of their merch. (J None was a full member for awhile, he left to sing for the Navy. Now we get him back as a featured performer when it works out.
Geoffs wife Kathy is the crawling zombie. Her idea and Layne kicking a doll doppelganger of her across the room. Vincent Price would be proud of Geoff's narration. Layne is known as The Carrot King and VioLayne.
Yes the BTS was very interesting - it took them 13+ hours to get this to us!!! Yes no instruments... and as you said... VP will always 1) pay homage, 2) add their own stuff and they had to 3) seriously shorten the original 4) do the song acapella AND make an entertaining video!! They are SO very talented... Thanks for the reaction 🌹🕊 VP has more excellent Halloween songs in their catalog (
I’m surprised that nobody’s mentioned that Geoff changed up the bass line for this. I kept expecting to hear the original bass line but he kept surprising me. Am I the only one who thinks it’s hilarious that Layne spreads the Zombie bug by sneezing all over Cesar? Am I the ONLY one who keeps wondering why people see it coming but don’t run? Is J the only one with any sense?? LOL. This is a really fun take on the song. There are spots where it feels a little disjointed and I don’t know why, but the performances are stellar (yeah, I def miss that iconic group dance but these guys aren’t dancers-J’s bit is great). Lighting, arrangement, etc. are amazing.
Thank you guys for an awesome reaction to Voice Play. Please put these Voice Play .. Halloween covers on your to do list... Hide & Seek Ding Dong... Friends On The Other Side...This is Halloween... In The Hall Of The Mountain King... & Grimm Grinning Ghost... Geoff Castellucci's solo covers ...The Headless Horseman... Jacks Lament, Geoff is the low bass singer in Voice Play.
Thanks for this reaction to VoicePlay's newest. This release is so fun! VoicePlay never disappoints. Layne (vocal percussion) and former VP baritone, Tony, co-own Pattycake Productions Studio, where a lot of VoicePlay (and Geoff's solo) videos are filmed, as was this one.
With them, if there's an instrument other than their voices, you will see it. If you don't see it, it wasn't used. Even sounds such as bone cracks and creeking doors are done vocally. They do use vocal layering quite often though.
I'm not sure why the end cards showed up early...they normally don't appear til the credits. There've been several calls for a full dance number, but it would have been a lot to ask--this was already a long complicated shoot done under time constraints, and while these guys certainly _can_ dance when they put their minds to it, it's not really their forte. Glad you enjoyed the video anyway!

One for the algorithm! (It is very early here and my words aren't really up and running yet, but I enjoyed the heck out of this.)
They do all their own stuff from arrangement to video production. They have their own studio called patty cake productions
here are more hallowen goodies from Geoff's solo work this time
Jack's Lament
Monster Mash
Ghost Riders In The Sky
Headless Horseman
