A couple fun facts about Twice (and a tiny bit about k-pop in general): Twice is a 9 member group and they first debuted in 2015 and they renewed their contract back in 2022. Most k-pop groups tend to have a set 7 year contract (aside from temporary groups that usually last 2.5 years and can't renew their contract as a group) so Twice is currently approaching their 9th year anniversary.
TWICE very much comes from the era in KPOP where girl groups debuted with a lot of members. TWICE debuted in 2015 and it was up until about 2018 when we started to see a shift from debuting girl groups with 7-12 members to debuting girl groups with 4-6 members. In the last 5 years we have seen many new groups debut with 4-6 members now such as: AESPA, (G)I-DLE, STAYC, NewJeans, KISS OF LIFE, IVE, Le Sserafim, ITZY, EVERGLOW, and several others TWICE is actually one of the last active large (7+) girl groups many of them have disbanded or been inactive
I'm guessing the reason why the western media hasn't tried to use some of the k-pop strategies when it comes to groups is because western countries don't really agree with the training process. Before being able to debut (if you ever actually get the chance), you usually have to audition or get scouted into and start training under a company. There, you will be trained on singing, dancing, stage presence, rapping, etc. These sessions will last hours with no break, you aren't allowed to date, be on any social media, visit your familes and your on a super strict diet. On top of this, you have to either excel in all your classes if you're still in school or they'll have you drop out of school to make time for training. And this goes on for years. And you're not even guaranteed to debut after all this. That's only the surface of things.
Some of that is extreme, however, the parts where they actually are developing them as artists, we need to implement over here! Bc all these trash performers are getting out of hand.

TXT even mentioned that when they were trainees at the old bighit building, the recording studios were growing mushrooms, and there was a room that had an electrical problem, and Taehyun and Hueningkai were both electrocuted. Kai said he ended up being really pale for a while afterward. And Taehyun almost died. He said that if fellow trainees didn't find him when they did, he would've died in that room. Soobin mentioned having to hide food and sneak away to eat it and being caught one time. And that they were bullied a lot by older trainees. TXT are about hit their 5 year anniversary since they're debut but a lot of this stuff was still happening under 10 years ago
I’m trying to learn about this group. I am half Korean. I’m not a big K-pop fan..yet😂 this is my niece’s favorite group. I’m taking her to see Twice soon. It will be her first live concert. So I’m trying real hard to learn about each member. I have no idea why so many members 🤷🏻♀️🤣. But I’m watching all of their blogs to learn about them individually
If you haven’t already you should check out the artist RAYE. I highly highly recommend her songs Escapism, Hard out here, Ice cream man, Black mascara, Mary Jane, Oscar winning tears, and basically her whole album My 21st century blues. 10/10.
I appreciate your honesty this is my group but its my group because I don't need to be slapped up side the head any more to appreciate a song, I like to be whispered to in my ear. Been there though was a metalhead for years so I understand. Their are lots of groups you could listen to in K-pop but don't ask me I don't listen to them. To answer your question (which is why I'm commenting) Korea is a small music base so their system is to have generations which means you have a limited time to perform but they have a huge amount of talent so basically use them or lose them cause you only get about 7 years. This group Twice is 3rd generation but there are 4th gen groups and the 5th gen is starting to show up. The album this song is the title track for sold 750k albums in the US at release so they are coming here, actually out lived their stay in Korea, and I hope they kick start American music like the Beatles did in the 60's (yea I'm that old) nothing like a challenge from abroad to wake up Americans. We might be able to copy the style but K-pop is brutal to the Idols and they need them young because of the limited time frame, some of the Idols (term used for the artists) debuted as young as 13 that's not going to fly over here. For reference the youngest in this group is 24 oldest will be 29 so senior citizens in K-pop but beautiful women in the states (I saw you looking a Jihyo lol). I won't recommend any song for you this is how they sound so not your thing all good, I'm a ONCE (fan base name) we live on a drug called serotonin so we are a chill group. OT9 forever (TIMELESS).
America can’t copy it because these idols go through many years of training as kids before debuting. Bad media and child abuse protest will happen if they try to copy kpop. Majority of American artist can never do this like kpop. Hard choreography while singing. They obviously can but won’t, reason being America law system don’t allow the training system these kpop group go theough without getting into law suits. These kpop idols go through 3-9 years of training while they are kids to teenagers before they could debut.

23rd I live in Japan and they have girl groups with 48 members 😵🤯 I’m guessing because in east Asia people grow up in such a group think society they automatically do everything in large groups. Individualism is not really a thing here.
The first K-pop group I was introduced to when I moved to Japan in 2014 was BIG BANG. They are the predecessor of BTS etc. Give them a listen one day. ‘Fantastic Baby’ and ‘Bang Bang Bang’ are my favorites.

Some of these were done like 10 or 20 years ago. It is much better in the past few years. and part of what you mentioned are myths.
