30:45 seeing adam woth a bloodied knuckle makes me realize that it is basically all part of the process of making something by hand. Working with your own hands means you will undoubtedly have the marks to show for it. It was the same for me working as a carpenter for 10+ years with my father, you manage to scratch, hit or cut yourself on anything and everything, but no matter how many times it happened, every knick and dent was a memory and a proof that you had done something by yourself and that every mark is something to be proud of, no matter the circumstances around the "accident". I love working with my hands, and seeing adam doing this build makes me wanna do a similar build just because I can 😅
I love the cascade of information. Adam goes to an expert to learn how to make a suit of armour. Someone else comes to Adam to learn how to make a spacesuit. Information and expertise cascades down all the time. Love it.
Adam I worked on the design for the upper torso of the Z2 suit. Some of the reference pictures you showed are a 3D print I had made during my time at ILC. Glad to see them show up in your vid! I’m working on the xEMU suit now.
you can answer this. I noticed the 1-10 markings on the dial on the front of the hard-torso were backwards. Is this because the astronaut cannot see this directly and only on their wrist mirror so that in the mirror the numbers look correct?
Dude whoever is picking the music during some of the time lapse and stuff is absolutely killing it. I assume they are mostly copyright free tracks but some of them are absolute bangers
My brain is still trying to come to acceptance that G4 is indeed back, but seeing Kevin Pereira and Adam Savage together talking about space stuff is activating parts of my heart I wasn't expecting 😭❤️ Much respect to all involved in this reboot and obvious shout out to Adam for continuing to be the single most awesome human being! Love you all!
Adam, thank you for being an inspiration to kids. I watched Mythbusters growing up, every week on Wednesday night. You and me are happy go lucky people. You got me into engineering, that was 15 years ago. It has changed my life. Thank you for being that light.
For God's sake, why hasn't NASA brought this genius man to its teams so far? It's obvious that Adam is living his boyhood dreams through this and similar projects, and that is the key to success: to do what you have always loved. My God, what a versatile and brilliant mind: with each new project I am more and more blown away!
Is it me, or is there a spirit of old sci-fi in these style of suits? It feels like just the HUT/briefs frame is super close to the frame you'd make for a Lost In Space robot cosplay. Love it!
Adam, who once again has a deadline for a project: "Wait - i totally forgot that one day has less than 72 hours! Damn you, treacherous one-day-builds!" 😁

Stretching the spandex over the plywood form, stiffening it with epoxy, and then laying up some fiberglass on it is such a brilliant construction method. If I hadn't seen this video, I would be at a loss as to how to accomplish a shape like that with a reasonable degree of labor! Freakin' brilliant, Adam! 🤩
I love that at 9:25 Adam uses his arm tattoo to double check the size of the lazy susan. Just brilliant. Now I want that tattoo even more than I did before.

hello everybody, first of all, thank you Adam and the whole Tested team for amazing work. There is so much inspiration for projects in your videos. I already tried to duplicate few of your project (with my own tweaks) and I am absolutely tempted to try to build this on my own also. I just want to ask the community, if anyone else tried it also? I would just love to have somebody to consult tr to share the progress. Thank you very much.
@@pasquale78 Cool - I guess that was inevitable! I suppose the PO is more rugged with no Hesalite to scratch. Has he worn the Speedy on camera before? I'm sure I've seen Adam wear an SMP 300 Chrono on some of the early Tested vids.
i’m watching this while working on my own suit, not a space suit, but a suit that can survive antarctica to a volcano, bullet resistant and has cooling and heating, hearing adam talk about how he’s been thinking about it for years made me tear up a bit it reminded me of my own process towards the suit
Adam, suggestion when you're doing fiberglass work. instead of trying to brush on the resin, before it kicks... just dunk the entire piece of cloth, in the resin, before you lay it up. Then you're just using the brush to smooth it out. It goes a LOT quicker that way, and you don't have to worry about dry patches. Just, wear gloves! ...since you're handling saturated cloth. Hopefully this helps with your next fiberglass project. Keep up the great content, I always look forward to your next project!
The fun thing about fiberglass resin and spandex is that you can make such complex shapes that you would swear you vacuuformed something. Once you get the shape you want, just slap some glass on top with more resin and you now have a structural form. It's a favorite in the custom sound system community as well as custom car panels.
Can you imagine if someone out there designing the next generation suit watches this and includes some subtle nod to these suits? Then Adam tilting his head and recognizing it, he can’t confirm it but he just knows…
Absolutely amazing build! Looks so complete you could add a few o-ring seals and step out on Mare Serenetatis . Funny thing was that as I was watching, I kept flashing back to 1958 and me at age 12 devouring Heinlein’s “Have Spacesuit, Will Travel.” Before getting to the UFOs and aliens, the first quarter of the book covers all of the challenges of building/refurbishing what Adam calls an anthropomorphic spaceship. Deja Vu!

OK. I'm currently working on my own nasa inspired suit, but watching this I'm thinking I need to stop. The level of detail here is frickin amazing. 😳
