Avalon sheeps Hey sister!! I’m Native American too! (And a mix of Colombian and Mexican). Let me tell you something that amazed me about New Zealand. I’ve been to NZ and I LOVE the harmony between the Maori and the European settlers. A majority of the streets and cities are Maori names, and instead of colonizing it and throwing away the indigenous culture, a lot of the culture is implemented in the country, such as the Haka. Of course it’s westernized, but a lot of the native culture is obviously there, compared to how the US is, and how they treat us. When people talk, they casually add Maori words and incorporate much of the culture. Some of the Maori live modern, and others continue their traditions. I suck at describing stuff, but as an indigenous myself, I really wish the United States could be more like New Zealand. And everyone there was extremely warm and nice!!!
Mimei, as a half-Japanese that moved to New Zealand last year I literally cried watching this video. The experience of appreciating another culture is so, so important to broaden our perspectives of the world. I'm glad to have seen you help these kids do the same. Thank you for sharing this.
True! All Japanese people accept other cultures. Japan does Christmas, Halloween despite most of Japanese people are not Christians. Do you realize how horrible all Koreans are raising hatred against Japanese people with fake story one after another while copying Japanese culture because they don't have any original Korean culture and being jealous? How do you feel like as Korean Japanese you are?

It’s so peaceful, everyone is so friendly and warm, you have beaches and mountains and beautiful green hills, and then you have the harmony of the Europeans and Maori! As an American, or more specifically Native American, I really wish my country can learn a few things from you guys...I was deeply inspired and loved how Maori culture is ingrained into the country and identity of New Zealand. My culture is mostly lost, and now we are working on recovering the remaining fragments of our culture. Other than that, I would definitely go back and get some L&P Whittaker’s Chocolate bar! Just wanted to give another shoutout to you guys!!💙

Watching this video gave me a renewed sense of pride of my own country. I haven't been home in 6 years (not for lack of wanting to) but I am often asked what I miss and I can never really identify it. One of the students put it so perfectly " New Zealand is not just a country, but a place where it seems the whole world comes together. It's not a place of no you can't do this or that, but a place of sure lets try" which I miss so much. Those students were so much fun to watch. Well done on an amazing video within one of your own videos, and thank you for a channel spoken in Japanese. I miss speaking and listening to and reading and writing in Japanese. These days I am surrounded by Korean all the time. Not that its a problem but I miss Japanese too.
We met the ambassador of the Philippines to New Zealand in one of our seminars and he kept telling us how beautiful NZ is. I hope I can go there someday too 😍
This looks like such an amazing experience for the kids. My youth exchange in Germany was probably one of the biggest influences on my life. I always encourage my students who have an interest in going abroad to go and find a way to make it happen. Plus, New Zealand is amazing! I loved the year I spent there. I'm sure these kids will never forget it.
The hongi! I have a NZ friend who is part Maori and she insists in meeting friends that way, that's what her grandparents taught here was the proper way to welcome people. It was lovely and I miss her hugely, she left us here in Edinburgh to go back to NZ, she lives in Wellington with her Mum.

It's true. There are many people from different countries here and on the whole we seem to get on reasonably well. I'm glad they enjoyed themselves and had some good weather, which as anybody who lives in Auckland knows, can be quite wet and very changeable.

As an Australian, I feel so bad that the world lumps New Zealand in with my country. NZ has it's own beautiful country and culture and history far different (and in my opinion, in a lot of ways better) than Australia. This so wonderful that you're able to teach about Maori culture. 大学生の時、留学していました。懐かしいなぁ😢NZは景色が綺麗で今でも感動したことが忘れられません…⭐️デベンポート？に一人で船に乗って山を登ってそこから見たオークランドは鳥肌が立つぐらい美しかったです😢感動して涙が出てきました😢日本より空が近く感じられて夜の星空もとても綺麗でした✨公園で羊のフンを踏んだのも思い出です😂
ニュージーランドは自然も空気も綺麗だけど、それと同じくらい人々の優しさに感動しました。日本人が好きだって言ってくれたし、英語が一切話せない私を一生懸命笑わせようとしてくれた(´>∀
