    Dude, at first few views of your videos I thought it was one of those voices the computer does as you read, but in one of the videos you laughed and it changed your cadence and I realized that it was really you. Don’t change anything! You are you. Your videos are incredibly detailed and informative and it’s obvious you love to do them, they have helped me a lot especially with the more complicated modules. Thank you much!

      Thanks. I strive to be detailed and informative, so that later I can use my own videos for doing DM Preps on Modules that I will be putting my Players through.

    I know this is an old video but it is insanely helpful. I'm a first tie DM and I just finished Icespire peak and landed on this module for the next session and homebrewing

    Always appreciate your vids. I own and recently ran the original competition module and didn't do a great job at presenting the sense of urgency on the lower levels with my group of 5e newbies. It totally fell flat, but I can really see the point system as a great reason to rerun and re-explore this awesome tomb!

    • @RPGmodsFan
      @RPGmodsFan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I, uh?, kind of ignored the poison gas scenario in the lower level. To me, it did not make sense why the poison gas effects the PCs and not the living monsters there. Come to think of it, I could have said they were acclimated to the gas?

    • @aWOLtrooper
      @aWOLtrooper 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RPGmodsFan that in of itself is an interesting topic to explore. The versatility of these competition modules, even just the originals- to say nothing of the reiterations across 4 other editions,- says a lot about their longevity in a tumultuous RPG community.

    I wouldn't delete your previous videos, you might lose the benefit of previous views/likes/comments (though I don't know how the youtube algorithms work). In addition, people who don't like your voice should go somewhere else.

    I am planning to run this dungeon with my two brothers my two sons and my nephew. This is me and my brothers first attempt back into D&D since 30 years ago when we played the heck out of AD&D we are going to play the 5e version. I think they will like the tactical nature of the traps and puzzles plus the cursed items will be fun because they likely will loot everything they find. They are all rolling 5th level characters meaning the combats don't seem that threatening to 5e Characters. Is the total attrition of the traps good enough to whittle them down to make it a challenge?
    BTW I found your narration totally fine, in fact it was easy to understand everything you said because you stressed the words accurately instead of using our normal speech which can create words that run together.

    • @RPGmodsFan
      @RPGmodsFan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. Hope you, your sons, your brothers and nephew have fun going through the C1 Mod. As far the attrition of the traps, it depends on how challenging you want to make the adventure. The one thing I forgot to mention in the video is the poison gas filled lower level. PCs will have 1 hour before they succumb to its effects. Thus, it makes it impossible to explore the lower level completely. This probably makes the C1 Mod enough of a challenge.

    I think the best way to look at this module is that the plot, traps, and story line are great but playing the module is hard due the heavy emphasis of an atypical culture that is not seen in other adventures. I liked the primitiveness nature of the module setting. I had the AD&D second edition and enjoyed running that adventure.
    BTW, I enjoyed the review. Brought back great memories.

      Thanks for the compliment and the comment. The C1 Mod came out before the 1st Indiana Jones movie. 20/20 hindsight: this module is most effective when run with a Indiana Jones vibe.

    Excellent review (as always). I was going to run this module but there were so many mixed reviews. I understand the railroading, but at the same time, the urgency to escape would end badly for most of it were a sandbox. Still, there are a lot of interesting rooms, traps, foes, and treasure and with a little work some of the issues could be worked out. In fact, I think it would be a fun challenge given the quality of many of the elements to “play with.” I would be interested in hearing why you don’t care for this adventure and how you could improve it (you always have great ideas). Either way, I don’t think there is anyone who is doing as thorough of a job at bringing these old classics to life. To me, this helps to introduce these classic stories to new players, opens the door to a plethora of history, mechanics, environments, monsters and more. I know this one was republished, but there are so many out there including hundreds from dungeon magazine. Anyhow, thank you for the research and time you put into these.

      In terms of your mentioned issues with the C1 Mod, did you have any specific ones in mind?

    • @skillmatey7144
      @skillmatey7144 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      RPGmodsFan I haven’t played it, but a lot of people have said that it becomes repetitive and boring. Those who have enjoyed the module, I think, seem to emphasize the tension of getting out of the 1st level quickly before they die.

    Hello RPGModsfan, much better bro! Just use your natural voice. Don't try to be perfect. Go check out AJ Pickett TMG, people give him a hard time (he does monster lore). Don't delete your older video. Save those for your top tier patrons, make it only available to them. If people are paying for your content they will want to see your original videos. Love what you are doing, the pictures from the real world help to tell the story.
    Thanks RPGModsfan & have a great day.

    If you don’t think this is a good module, try using your imagination, get a little wild, add to it what you like or think it needs. And do your best not to be boring. If you become interested and invested in the material, then so will your players. But don’t expect the module to do all the work for you. If you find it uninteresting, that’s on you and speaks volumes about you.

    • @RPGmodsFan
      @RPGmodsFan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I admit, you got a point. It is up to the DM to take what is there (whether good or not) and make it better. Before, I thought the B6 Mod was a bad Mod. Then I saw Dungeon Craft's videos on them, how he changed them, and made the B6 Mod better, thus changed my mind

      Oops? The video is long as it is, so I cut out some rooms. However, in my outro, while the music is playing, I do display on screen those missing rooms (starting at the 27:26 point) along with some notes on them.

    Great video. As to voice, better but still a bit robo. I "think" it's because it sound like you're talking slowly and deliberately. As a person with sales training it's better to just speak naturally. Or with a little excitement or voice inflection, emphasis, on important words. Just natural is fine though. No one's going to care if you slur a word here and there. You're easy to understand. Try listening to Isaac Arthur's science page. He has speech issues and doesn't care. Just talks. Or Shadiversity on medieval castles, he talks super fast sometimes. Whoa. Good vids like the content.

    Look, I say this as a friend... Stop.
    Your videos are super informative and very well thought out but you simply can't stop yourself from sounding like a damn computer. Words like "water" or "meter" is actually pronounced like a robot. You are aware of it, but can't stop it. So, either stop, or have someone else read your script.
    Please understand, I appreciate your hard work, but just listen to all the youtubers out there. How can you expect your sub count to hit 1k if you are putting people to sleep?
    Just stop.
