15:03 on the single encounter falling flat thing. It was expected to play 1e in real to time, with players forced to leave a dungeon at the end of a section and can only recover in a town. Paired with random monsters each hour to keep the party moving, dungeons were ment to be a gauntlet of attraction, to get out before the end of the session (and also a race to clear out all the treasure before the dm’s other group dose as collecting money was the only way to gain exp, and west Marches was the default way to play).

This dungeon was originally a weekend one-shot for a dnd convention, but it's hard to find information on exactly how much time was dedicated to playing. Adding additional stress on the timing of the dungeon would definitely increase monster difficulty.
      Thanks for watching.

The note about the cave in at the beginning is not an invitation to allow the characters to climb out of the temple. The “digging out” the manual is referring to is what must be done when the characters try (in vain) to climb back up and get buried by more debris.

I inserted this dungeon into one of my campaigns. The villain had a curse that was like a gravity well that sucked the players in, and exploded, dropping them into the dungeon room 1 directly from the fights end.

My players are exploring ruins and I didn’t really know what to throw at them but then I found this dungeon, thanks for the tips definitely gonna use them soon!

The railroad bit at the beginning was because of the initial use of the module as a tournament bit. Players were using issued characters, and it was understood that they were to get down to business.

Man, this channel is crazy helpful

Thanks, I enjoyed that. I'm just reading it through at the moment & getting it ready to play. I've set it on the Isle of Dread and the players are going to be climbing up a hole to get out of a cavern they have fallen into when they discover the passage of room 1.
You probably know, but the module was originally a tournament module and it was very much about 'getting out alive' as quick as possible which I guess is why there is no final monster to slay etc. There is an idea in it of gas seeping through the pyramid, so it is very much a race against time.
BTW, you present things well and are easy to listen to & I'd be happy to listen to other commentaries on modules. A lot of the Americans who do these channels are a bit much for us non Americans in that they talk so fast and shout all the time (no offence meant) but you talk calmly and reasonably quietly, which is a nice change!

I was looking for information on the duration of those tournaments, I think they lasted 2-3days, but unclear how long they actually dungeon delved. You'll need more than a session, but maybe 8-10hours and they could dent the dungeon. Report back what you find.

This dungeon runs way better if you run it correctly and not backwards. Your players should start in room 1 when they fall through. Also, I don't believe in ever giving players maps. It deflates the entire adventure.

Ive been meaning to try it again from the bottom, thinking of making another video after. The dungeon was built from the bottom up, so it makes sense.

@@Southgate1868in our Curse of Strahd campaign the DM first had a homebrew swarm of nasty high damage/high HP insects surround the hut and then a wailing claw scratching against stone creature show up who’s irritating noises wouldn’t let us rest in the hut. By the time we wasted a lot of effort and resources dealing with that, Strahd showed up…

Decided to run with your top down suggestion because I agree that starting at the bottom doesn't make a lot of sense! Thanks for your helpful tips, there really isn't a lot out there on how to run this one.

I'm trying to get more going, had a lull in my play group over summer. I'm starting to run more stuff and I like to have the experience before posting.
      Thanks for comment.

I enjoy your perspective on the narrative/story and complexity of the dungeon. I found your shared experience of running it and DM tips to be useful. I would recommend that in your videos you may want to take the first couple of minutes to do a Module INTRO to the unfamiliar players/DMs. In that intro please describe the dungeon in terms of "Level required/expected", the setting of the dungeon, the makeup of the party recommended (if useful) and upgrade/change recommendations you might add.

Room 1, etc all are "trying" to distract pcs. Meanwhile, the slow poison is working on them. This module is a punishment/training for parties who waste time.

What an idiotic take on this module. "First off, I started from the wrong side. But let me refer to everything in reverse order." Great job, bro. Also, the pronunciation of the module is literally spelled out for you in the book.
