This has to be the most Russian way to play a Russian composer's piece of music Edit: For all you guys saying it's a Japanese band not Russian, ik. I never said they weren't Japanese.
It is an endlessly complex piece about being at war, the good,, the bad,, the fighting and in between times. It interweaves Russian and French folk music as well as patriotic music and traditional calls. And makes it work seamlessly together and is still being played and appreciated today. But, sure, it's a "meme piece". And this band plays it amazingly. Including having the cannons go off at the right time in the piece. Most orchestra/bands who do it are like... eh... just shoot 'em off whenever. This was awesome! And for better or worse it became the most popular of his pieces because of one man. Arthur Fielder.

The Japanese "Self-Defense Force" playing a Russian orchestral masterpiece while dressed in Western style combat uniforms, with US field artillery for accompaniment. The 20th century was a wild one.
Well, they are Japanese uniforms. Ever since the Imperial uniforms of the Imperial Japanese Forces were replaced by JSDF uniforms influenced by the USA after WWII, they (the Japanese) have been developing and updating their uniforms based upon the post-1945 lines. And, although highly unique in many ways, Japan rates as one of the most western nations on earth when considering factors like economics, fashion, engineering, military, etc. Alongside Singapore, Taiwan and Australia, Japan is one of the most western nations in the Asia-Pacific (hence the rising tensions with the PRC and the DPRK). That, and most NATO-observer nations also use NATO weapons and ammunition standards - which the 105mm Howitzer is a NATO standard piece, albeit US designed.

Tchaikovsky used several traditional/well-known patriotic hymns and folk tunes in the Overture. The lyrics are translations of some of the corresponding lines. I believe that Tchaikovsky originally wrote it for choir, organ (one of those fancy ones loud enough to be heard across town), full orchestra, at minimum of one band, church bells, and cannons. And I might be forgetting something. It was meant to be played in the town square. I have a recording of a rendition of one that tries to it the 'original' way...and it is indescribably awesome. The weirdest part for me was that real church bells have that "vibrating sound" after they ring that changes pitch/tone (or whatever the musicians call it) as they "cool off" and Tchaikovsky wrote that into the music so it creates this overwhelming sensation of an unconstrained musical explosion and implosion.
@@AgnesIona There are recording systems for it (maybe even some digitising shops have the equipment, I don't know) , but could require some dedication. In principle a lot of vinyl players have a 1/4 jack (guitar jack) that could ne converted into a mic cable and fed into a computer. Levels would likely be wonky though

Good luck getting a cannon to play Pianissimo.
With a cannon, you get fortissimo, or nothing
Just a question of a ammunition. If you just load an empty cartridge only with the primer, that is piano!
you just put on a silencer
Use compressed air. Save the gunpowder for the fortissimo.
Maybe just let the primer go off and not the powder.

Tchaikovsky wrote a meme piece, and he’s wondering why it became the most popular of his works.
Fact! It was Tchaikovsky's least favorite of his works.
Not the Nutcracker?
It is an endlessly complex piece about being at war, the good,, the bad,, the fighting and in between times. It interweaves Russian and French folk music as well as patriotic music and traditional calls. And makes it work seamlessly together and is still being played and appreciated today. But, sure, it's a "meme piece". And this band plays it amazingly. Including having the cannons go off at the right time in the piece. Most orchestra/bands who do it are like... eh... just shoot 'em off whenever. This was awesome! And for better or worse it became the most popular of his pieces because of one man. Arthur Fielder.
That's not his most popular work

Cosplay is about the look, not always about accuracy (but accuracy is appreciated)
This was in Japan?

Everyone is memeing the cannons. Meanwhile I discovered the captions have the lyrics...
Fascinating...
@@AgnesIona can you somehow upload this record?
@@batughanuzun It is a vinyl so I am not sure how I would....

Some people seem to be making fun of the presence of artillery at the open air concert because they do not know the story of this famous piece by Tchaikovsky. This grand work intended to commemorate Russia’s victory in the French Invasion of Russia that ended with the defeat of French army in the Battle of Borodino in 1812. Tchaikovsky represents the ferocity of the battle with canons’ blasts and Russia’s victory celebrations by church bells.
