Gatimaan Express is India's first semi-high speed train that runs between Delhi and Virangana Lakshmibai station. The train takes 265 minutes to cover the 403 km journey from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Virangana Lakshmibai Junction railway stations with an average speed of 91 km/h
WAP 5 is the fastest passenger locomotive in Indian Railways. Difference to WAP 5 is it is used for trains with less coaches and for short distance. Gear ratio is changed in WAP 7 to haul long distance and trains with more coaches. WAP 5 has power output of 6120 HP and WAP 7 has power output of 6350 HP. These are the major differences. WAP 5 was initially bought from Switzerland's ABB limited and WAP 7 was indigeneously built in DLW to suit Indian Conditions.

And wap 7 wheel is co co type and wap 5 wheel is bo bo type that means wap7 wheel in-between right wheel and left wheel there is connection with shaft like how coaches have but wap5 has independent individual wheel which means they are not connected by shaft

P5 top speed 190and P7 top speed 190 க்கு உள்ள வித்தியாசம் வந்து அது 22 sleeper ,ac coachesஐ இழுக்கும் . இது 15 seater coaches ஐ இருக்கும். உதாரணமாக ஒரு கார்ல 5 பேர் அமரலாம் எடை 2 டன் . ஆனால் ஒரு பேருந்தில் 40ー50 பேர் அமரலாம் . காரின் உயர் வேகம் அதிகம் ஆனால் எடையை சுமந்து செல்ல பலம் கிடையாது. பேருந்தின் உயர் வேகம் குறைவாக இருக்கும் ஆனால் நிறைய நபர்கள் அதில் பயணிக்கலாம்.
WAP 5 is generally used for very high speed and short trains, while WAP 7 is used to pull long trains at normal high speeds. The main difference is the number of bogies - WAP 5 has 2 bogies at each end, while WAP 7 has 3 bogies at each end. Due to this, WAP 5 is lighter and can easily accelerate to very high speeds with less coaches like Gatimaan 🔥🔥
And as usual, WAP 5 has 5400HP and WAP 7 has 6100HP, but WAP 5 has more torque 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

"WAP 5 is fastest loco in IR. But WAP 7 is the most powerful loco of IR after WAG 9. WAP 5 delivers speed but failed at hauling long trains,
whereas WAP 7 hauls long coaches train with quick acceleration at appreciable speed. WAP 5 is the fastest locomotive of Indian Railway so far.
So there is no way, WAP5 has higher torque buddy.. and fyi, WAP 7 has higher acceleration than WAP5, given the fact, avg WAP 7 hauling capacity is more than 14 coaches..
We normally don't find WAP5 in south India, cuz South still operates at 130kms operational speed and few sections in north like HZM to Agra and Jhansi have newer rail lines laid in recent past or upgraded to show off our speed to tourist who start from delhi to visit Agra
90% of WAP5s are used from only 3 loco sheds around delhi and Uttarpradesh..
Another Reason for not using WAP5 is that WAP 7 The most unique feature among locos, is that it eliminates the need to have separate DG sets for air-conditioning in long distance trains hence providing huge savings on maintenance and running costs.
This technology is called HOG or 'Head On Generation' where the loco transfers electric power from its panto-graph to the coaches.
in summary, The WAP-7 can also haul loads of 24-26 passenger coaches (1430-1550 tonnes) at 110 km/h per hour. It is also capable of hauling upto 16 heavyweight AC coaches in 1:40 inclines single-handedly.
Thats why WAP 7 rocks and is the able replacement of WAP 4.. and WAP5 is just a unicorn that will fade in another decade from WAP 7 is for the longest run like WAP 4
The current king of passenger Locos is the WAP 7.. WAP 5 is its deputy and not more .. :)

I travelled in Gatimaan from Agra to Delhi on 13th August. I planned whole delhi and Agra trip as per this train schedule, as i wanted to badly travel by this train.
Travel was wonderful experience.
My coach was C8 (next to engine - EOG).
In mid trip while cruising at 160+ there was loud screeching sound below coach and whole coach was shaking. Everyone was shocked and scared.
Looked like it hit cow or buffalo.
Yet train didn't slow down a bit.

Hi Ajay: Very nice video of the Gatiman Express (pronounced Gathimaan - the "t" as in Jothi). The scenery that you saw on the way is a natural phenomenon. This belongs to the Chambal area (ravines) where a lot of dacoits used to operate. Phoolan Devi also used to live there and carry out her unlawful activities. The "Veerangana" means exactly what it means in Tamil (Veeranganai) - brave woman.

WAP-5 easily attains high speed because of less axle load and absence of traction motor over axles like WAP-7 and all other electric locomotives. WAP-5 are made for speed with lighter load; it has only 4 axles and not 6.

I have answers for your questions in the video.
• Tamilnadu and GT express are slower than gatimaan. Yes, because the operational speeed is less (120-130kmph) in North side. Particularly GT has more stops, hence it is slower.
• WAP-5 and WAP-7 are almost similar. Both are powered by 3-phase motors, have same throttle system. The differences are the traction motors (WAP-7 has six motors ABB 6fra with 850 KW and WAP-5 has four motors ABB 6fxa with 1150 KW), and respective axle (6 for WAP-7 and 4 for WAP-5) and gear ratio. WAP-7 is heavier (around 115 tonnes) compared to WAP-5 (around 78 tonnes). WAP-5 can haul medium loads at very high speed(160). WAP-7 can haul heavy loads at high speed(130). Due to lesser no of motors and lesser no of axles WAP-5 fails to maintain speed in gradients while hauling heavy loads.
• Bhopal shatabdi max speed is 150 (as far as I know) hence it is little late than gatimaan.
Now WAP-7 HS variant is built by reducing per axle weight and gear ratio (from 72:20 to 70:22- less the difference between these two numbers means more speed, but initially needs more torque at axle too , means pulling capacity reduces). It is intended for 160kmph hauling.
• Concept behind Vande Bharat express is nothing but similar to our local EMU trains. Distributed tractive power sources (engine) improves acceleration, smooth travelling and axle over load. Acceleration of Vande Bharat express will be better.
• Railways offers slack timing concept for every train just before it's destination. That is it allows more time for the train to reach from last before station to it's destination to compensate for track clearing and reduce delays if train is delayed. In Tamilnadu, for south trains to Chennai egmore, has stoppage at T.Nagar, just few km from destination. A time of around 45 mins to 1 hour is given.

It's all with the gear ratios and little bit difference in power, wap 5 was made for quick acceleration but struggles at pulling more than 12 bogies, wap 7 is the modified version of wag 9 from the goods locomotives, mainly the gear ratios were modified to give better acceleration for the passenger trains, wap 7 can easily maintain 140kmph with 20 bogies, which wap 5 can't do. You can why wap 5 was developed, when wap 7 is there, wap 5 is mainly for short range, short length Trains, with high speed. But point is with the Indian railway system as of now, there is very little scope for high speeds due to many reason, like traffic, single line, no high speed Tracks etc, that's why wap 5 is not found in every shatabdis, for eg Chennai coimbatore shatabdi is pulled by a wap 7 and still it's able to do it in 6hrs, imagine what a wap 5 can do with proper infrastructure

WAP 5 currently holds only in 3 sheds (Ghaziabad, Vadodara and Howrah) that is they are providing WAP 5 in high speed route only not in 110kmph SR zone
In SR zone, 130 is max permissible speed.
