    This is ridiculous I just found out about this place called Shashamane. In from what I just read about it on line the King at the time Haile Selassie gave this area to Black Americans for fighting in the war with them against the Italian’s. What I read on line is that some how the Jamaicans got the land in not the Black Americans this is ridiculous.

    Damaris and your video Grapher, thanks soo much for sharing your experience. Shash is my birth place and value that part of my heritage. Noel Dyer was my cousin's dad. And my dad was one of the first to settle there from NYC, (Dr. Gladstone Robinson(R.I.P.) lived and developed Shash in many wonderful ways. He was talented in Health care, opened and ran several elementary level schools as well as college level between Addis Ababa, Asmara and Shash. He spent close to 20 years there. Again thanks for your time and share. Peace and Love. Safe travels. Amisiginalow, eshi. 👏👍🙂🇪🇹🇯🇲🇺🇸Any chance of interviewing other Shash locals?

    Damaris, are you planning to go to Harar, Dire dawa area and also Somali region? A lot of tourists don't go to those regions (except Harar) and I think you'll get a lot of views if you went there.

    I was charmed by the narrative of the man, the Rastafarian, I enjoyed all he had to say, but I think if he smoked less weed before appearing on camera, he would have made more sense.

    That land was supposed to be for black Americans I wanna understand what made Jamaicans think that they should go over there and take that land it was black Americans fighting the Italians over there. It was black Americans who taught them how to fly starting the Ethiopian Air Force. Where did the Jamaicans fit into this? I’m just wondering.

    A good program but sound lost in your last expedition .......🙏 especially in the current dier condition we are in..... I really like the way he defended Ethiopia....especially on the nile case and you said it...tribialism is the problem...in this country we ought to help in desclating this triabal issue....but "we are black we are kush" is a bit generalistic ....the current war is to degrade the NORTHERN ETHIOPIA IN GENERAL IN MY VIEW AND THE TRIBES AFFECTED ARE MORE OF SEMETIC ORIGIN....but who knows you may be right....and you are against the westererners......too much but i love your atitude towards africa unity and you mentioning Emperor Tewodros the second and collateral taken in to the UK.....bro i think ETHIOPIANS NEED TO MAKE YOU OUR FOREIGN MINISTER...WOULD HAVE APPERICIATED IF YOU HAD MENTIONED AKILILU HABTEWOLD.......A RECOGONIZED DIPLOMAT AT HIS TIME THAT CONTRIBUTED FOR THE INITIATION OF EMEREGENCY MEETING AT THE UN AND TRIED TO STABLIZE THE WORLD UNITY...AFRICAN UNITE...WORLD UNITE... A COMMENT FROM A RANDOM ETHIOPIAN AFRICAN GLOBAL CITIZEN.

    Damaris the first settlers in the portion of Shashamene allocated to returnees to Africa from the West and the first administrators of the Ethiopian World Federation were a couple James and Helen Piper, I think they were from New York. They saw themselves as black Jews they weren't associated with Rastafarianism at all. Shashamene was not a gift to Rastafarians exclusively, far from it. It's quite a trajic story really that as the years progressed that Rastas completely dominated the demographic of those who responded to Haile Selassie's gift. It could of become a very special place for a multitide of different people as opposed to just one group returning. But blessings to those who live in the area. It's an interesting place.

    • @lawrencedavis7408
      @lawrencedavis7408 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because, They have to get their head together. They will have to see it. Agree to it development and not get caught up in the political process the people in Ethiopia, going through as they are breaking down the tribal issues, of Letting go their painful history and grabbing instead for their future. Then, the help needed locally is water. Employment, sanitation, Peace if accepted there will be enough for all.
