Thanks SO much for doing this interior! Watching White Christmas (multiple times a season!) is a tradition in my family. My mother and father were married in October 1954 and spent their honeymoon in NYC. They went to see White Christmas at its premier. My dad passed away when I was just 16 years old. I was in my 50s before my sister told me about my folks honeymoon outing; I had no idea there was a sentimental reason that we loved the movie so much. My mom was 31 when she got married they were only married for 24 years before my dad passed. She was always sad that she didn't have more time with him, but she never mentioned to me that they saw White Christmas on their honeymoon, and never asked us not to watch it, even though it must have made her quite sad.

My gotta-watch-it-every-year Xmas movie! ❤ The style of the set reminds me of several movies from the 40s and 50s, where there is a lot of stone and wood and it always feels so cozy. My vote for next up would be the Golden Girls! 🧓🏻
Your videos are a delight! You remind me of my friend Ara Bentley who also has a background in architecture and uses her skills to build doll houses and make miniature scenes. She created The Addams Family Mansion with elements of all the original art of Charles Addams, the original TV show, films, cartoons, and even the musical. It was on display at a miniature museum in Tuscon, AZ for two years. Currently, she's building the house from Beetlejuice, including the underworld. Quite the challenge to fit a sound stage into a doll house and have it all make sense! She has a TH-cam channel, through which I met her about 7 years ago. Your videos give me inspiration for making my own miniatures and how to make things make sense. Thank you! I hope you and yours have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Bing drops by for Christmas Eve dinner in 1957 and they sing around a similar fire pit in the middle of his apartment!!? It must’ve been a fad back then. If you had the millions of dollars to recreate this place, find that perfect patch of land in Connecticut, you could do it. It was my dream ever since I first saw this movie. I think I was about 7 years old at that time. I used to love Christmas back then. Home, family and belief that magic was real.
Hello. Your videos are magical. I’m going to watch this movie again. I would love you to do a video of the homes from the movie “Leave Her To Heaven” starring Gene Tierney. Her home is beautiful and then the lake cabin. Don’t know if there are enough shots for you to do this but it would be wonderful. Thank you. 😊

Marina, your masterful artistry is especially enchanting in this segment and brings me to eager anticipation of viewing the motion picture with a new vision! I wonder if you missed the window seats in the rear of the lodge where Judy proposes to Phil? I also wonder if the HOLIDAY INN set is more similar to the one used for CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT? Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. I did get the window seats, but maybe didn't pan the camera past them for a good enough look. I'm going to bevredoing Christmas in Connecticut next year, maybe I'll figure that out then. 😊
@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Sorry, I wasn't very clear. Susan Waverly was her character name. She was the general's granddaughter, not his daughter, as stated in the video. And yes, I absolutely would love to stay in the Inn if someone built it. Thank you for your hard work on the re-upload. Just terrific! The upstairs would be interesting. I believe the general's room is directly above the entrance, just off the sitting area where Rosemary sits on the couch during the cast party.
Just the thing to start the holiday season off, going through the Columbia Inn! A shame you didn't use some of the movie's songs, I'll guess because of licensing. Anyway, thanks for your work bringing this 'Tyrolean haunted house' to us. Maybe for December you could feature Scrooge's office and house from the 1951 film? You missed a few key details in the 'barn' set, namely the bar. If one looks closely, you'll notice that the height of the bar is set for standard seating, about 30" to the top of the bar. Kitchen lower cabinets and islands are a standard 36". You set the bar top at a standard 42". You'll also note that there are two steps down into the back of the bar. The reason for this design choice is for sightlines. As a set designer and a fan of this film, I have probably spent an unhealthy amount of time studding this particular set and have 'barrowed' elements from time to time. BTW...I have always imagined the floors were finished in cork tile, but linoleum would be period correct too. Anyway, thanks for the tour of the "Tirolian haunted house."

Thank you!
I am so happy you chose to make a video on the set design for this inn! I’ve loved this movie for as long as I can remember and it always seemed like such a cozy place to visit, were it real.
I wonder how warm and inviting it would have been? It certainly seems like a place to have a perfect New England family vacation
@Haffmatthew I would give anything to visit a real life Inn like this, with cabins like these and this kind of entertainment, too. They could charge really high prices and I'd still run to get there.
Ummm I was wishing for this and holiday inn just yesterday!!!!! No joke

This was fun!!! I’d love to see The Office!!!
@HollyMarieF69 Glad you liked it. The Office is on my list.
Happy Thanksgiving Marina! This set has always been one of my favorites. They used it for Summer Stock with Judy Garland and Gene Kelly too!
@@trinketsmusings Cool. I didn't know that. 😊
Happy Thanksgiving.
I saw this movie on the big screen in Chicago in the early 80s. Wow was it gorgeous after seeing it only on tv growing up.
Maybe you already know, but because it's the 70th anniversary of the film, it is showing at theaters around the country. Dec. 15 - 17th. I've got my tickets. I can't wait to see it on a huge screen.
F❤BULOUS!

Oh yes, the Golden Girls house would be awesome ! 🥰
I would love to see Rock Hudson's house in the movie with Jane Wyman ‘All That Heaven Allows.’ It was a barn of some type that he transformed into a house for her and it was very unique and outstanding and I think would make a great addition to your collection of homes you do.😄
@@monakayk I'm in love with that place! I'll get to it someday.
Thanks Marina! My absolute favorite Christmas movie! I’ve seen this movie many times and honestly never even noticed the little room behind the front desk. And I never realized that the large room with the circular fireplace where they have late night snacks was in the barn. Guess that’s why you’re the architect! 😊 but correction: that’s the general’s granddaughter, not his daughter.
Yes. You're right. Others have pointed that out as well. Somehow, I missed that even after watching this movie countless times. The age difference alone should have been a clue. 🤷♀️

She was also in the movie Sister Act!
@amyfloren4581 Oh, yes! I'd forgotten that.
Oh, wow. That sounds interesting. What is the name of her channel? I want to check it out.

Absolutely my favorite movie ever! Thank you so much for doing this tour. Showing things I’ve never noticed? Like the office behind the stairs? And the stairs in the barn! I loved that fire pit in the barn, I always thought it was such a fire hazard. It actually reminds me of a video of bing crosby and frank sinatra singing “white Christmas” in franks apartment. Bing drops by for Christmas Eve dinner in 1957 and they sing around a similar fire pit in the middle of his apartment!!? It must’ve been a fad back then. I love it so much.❤ I’m curious…what are those big tubs behind the bar? Planters?
@ssing2490 I wondered the same thing. They almost look like troughs. And, now you've got me wanting to Google the Frank Sunatra/Bing Crosby video.

The Italianate Villa from "Meet Me In St.Louis." 😊
That's a good one!
If you had the millions of dollars to recreate this place, find that perfect patch of land in Connecticut, you could do it. It was my dream ever since I first saw this movie. I think I was about 7 years old at that time. I used to love Christmas back then. Home, family and belief that magic was real.
@@DavidSmith-xs3or This Inn definitely has "all the feels." 😍
Thank you. 😊
@bigd4746 I love the homes in that movie. The first movie home I ever did, back before I had this channel or even my website, was the main home in that film. I never posted it anywhere because I was just learning the software. Someday, I'll go back and re-do it.
Susan Waverly was the general's granddaughter.
@@phillipburr2627 Thanks for adding that. I should have included her name and Dean Jaggers, the General.
@@phillipburr2627 Got it! You were emphasizing it was his granddaughter, not daughter. 👍
(Or if that's too soon, perhaps next holiday season.)
