You'll need a short Allen socket for the alternator. I have an automatic Jimny. I just loosen the radiator and move it forward, but yes there's no room for big hands, even small ones get cut up. I should buy mechanic gloves. Use corrosion inhibitor, your Jimny will last for hundreds of thousands of kilometres if you look after it.
I thought the water pumps are reliable why would it have been changed before if the gasket was bad ? I have a 2007 gen 3 with 85k miles on it. The original factory fitted pump is still on it. Of course when I get to 100k miles I will have it replaced .
I've just changed my water pump on my 2008 Jimmy, thanks to your video it made the job a lot easier, thanks very much, clive.
