The Viceroyalty of Nueva Espana: The Rise and Fall of the Spanish Empire

The Viceroyalty of New Spain was the political and territorial organization that established the Spanish Empire in North America (much of what is now Mexico) and part of Central America. After the arrival of Hernán Cortés in Aztec territory and the conquest of Tenochtitlan, the capital was established in Mexico City and the first body; the Council of the Indies.
