    Thank you very much for the insights Howard! I always appreciate your videos very much, I've learned a lot from you. Also there are bonus points for the production quality too :D No nonsense, no messy slides or anything like that... just pure wisdom and this minimalist pure style which is perfect in my opinion. Incredible value and great for rewatching too! Thank you very much for taking the time to educate us and (I assume) until next year. I wish a great time to Fiona and you until then.

    Thank you for your quick reply. I have several species of mosses in my garden. I’ll start trying them with my orchids.

      just make sure you don't bring in any slug or snail eggs with the moss. You can quarantine it by keeping it moist on a plastic tray.

    Hi - I discovered your channel around a month ago. You have inspired me to make a cabinet to expand my orchids & trying to join a local society. Just want you to know that your a positive influence (not to my bank account) and your collection is awe inspiring. I would love to see a video from you on where you collected these & also one on your caretaking. While I've caught glimpses of these throughout your content, I would love to see a dedicated video.
    Keep being you!

      That's great that they have helped to inspire you. Episode 36 is quite good for seeing some routine tasks and maintenance if you haven't already watched that one. I've been collecting them for quite a few years now. The main sources have been orchid shows, mail order specialists and swaps with other growers in Cambridge Orchid Society. I don't know where you live but recently Spicesotic Plants, here in England, have been a trusted source of many of my plants.

    Hello Howard, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. Would you mind telling us what species of live moss you are using for your mounted orchids. I have not found any at Ecuagenera. Cheers!

    • @HowardRice
      @HowardRice  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm sorry I don't know. Amongst my plants I have lots of different mosses that have taken up residence where the conditions are suitable. Some have come in with plants from other growers and nurseries, some I've brought in from our garden. In my opinion it doesn't matter what the species is providing it grows happily, isn't too vigorous and looks attractive.

    Do you have any chiloschistas? I've recently become aware of them and am considering a lunifera, but I've found limited videos on them. If you have any I would love to see them and know what conditions they like!

      I have viridiflava but I'm still working out how to grow it well. About 3 months ago I watched (using the translate function) a video from Roberto Martins Micro-orquídeas who is in Brazil and he did a very good video on Chiloschistas. I think this link might work.

    I’ve read it doesn’t want air movement at all

    • @HowardRice
      @HowardRice  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure about that. Mine get a bit of air movement. It is generally reckoned that nearly all orchids need some air movement. Although I've recently started growing my jewel orchids in a small enclosed terrarium without any air movement and they are doing well whereas before they didn't. I'm hoping to do a video about them when I think I've got something useful to show.
