    How long do you typically work on the bit grip or how long does it usually take for the pup to get the firm bite before you move on?

    • @rythm6983
      @rythm6983 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bite grip depends on the breed and age of the dog, as a puppy they're still getting the hang of it. It may be due to you not making it interesting enough for the dog to want to engage, hints not very good grip bites, and lack of interest (if there is any). If thats the problem try a different toy, or make the activity seem fun. It shouldn't take long for a 'good bite' to come in. Puppies have strong (and sharp) yet weak teeth, so till theyre more mature i guess you wont exactly get a great bite out of them lol. Honestly depends on the breed and if they enjoy working or not. A year late but thought id still comment incase anyone else needs an answer.🤷‍♂️

    • @Skaggs666
      @Skaggs666 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do this type of exercise until the puppy is consistent. It could take a few days to a few weeks. But once they are getting strong consistent bites, it’s time to move on.

    Would this training contradict with having my GSD puppy to stop biting ?

    I can see so many people doing this incorrectly. I think people don't monitor their own emotions when training - if you're stressed or tired, don't train. Be patient. People aren't consistent but expect the dog to be.

    Everyone let me ask this. If I keep training the dog, I will always hear the screaming and whip and attack. so if by luck the children scream or we sing karaoke, will the dog hear that scream, will it rush in and attack its owner? I thank you all very much.

    Ugh please if you are not an experienced trainer do not train your puppy “protection training”
    It’s crucial that they know all the basics first, or potentially work with a professional. You can seriously fuck up your dog with this if you don’t know what you doing....

    What does this have anything to do with the protect command? This seems to be a teaching attack. Protect is when the dog is simply more vigilant and looks for danger

    If you shouldn't do this when a dog is teething, do you have to wait until they lose all their baby teeth & their permanent teeth come in, around 6 months iirc?

    In the beginning you never said how old the puppy is. After five minutes or so I gave up watching cause I would have at least know the age of the puppy before I start bite training

    Don't use a flat collar for this, use a harness with a back D ring. You're going to damage your dogs trachea

    Too young. The dog needs to first be trained in basic obedience and socialized properly. The dog needs to be trained to listen to you infallibily before you start training it to bite.
