Excellent as usual. The need to go racing depends on how much I fancy a horse, I get far more sat at home than I do "live" - it means an avid racing fan that rarely goes racing - this year NH "zero" times I have been racing! Racing live must actually have more, not less of an experience than when you are sat at home.
Completely agree with Johnny on the racing experience, Even in limerick we used to have screens everywhere with soccer and hurling on, half them not even turned on now
Totally agree with Johnny and David on the racecourse experience. The only meeting I attend annually is Thyestes Day at Gowran and its a great day out with great racing but definitely the poor Wi-Fi is a big issue at racetracks.
Individuals commenting on Johnny's shirt. Have a day off. If you're watching the show to look at JD and David Jennings' clothing you need to go to bed. Loving the shirt JD. Just had £5.00 each-way (£10.00 in total) on Langer Dan at 50/1 to win the Stayers Hurdle; looking at the current market he is the second-best horse in the betting. Saying he isn't a G1 horse is a laughable comment, he should have won the race at the Grand National meeting in April, if the stewards hadn't of panicked.
Johnny absolutely bang on as usual about Nicholls and De La Hay, the money they spend on horses is obscene for the return. I know it’s a different owner, but Caldwell Potter is an example, stupid money.
“The fella that got the heart attack” When you actually say it out loud, it is mad that Man Utd signed a player that had a heart attack 😂 desperate times
Couldn't agree more lads, going racing costs a motza, so you want to have a good experience, and the overpriced food and pints really don't cut it in isolation. If England had pubs with a TOTE in them showing all the sports in parallel, as Australia does, where mates can get together on a Saturday for beers, watching sports and punting, the racecourses here would be completely empty.
1:02:29 lads yere discussion at the end was brilliant. Some simple changes could make such a big difference. I remember going to the DRF in 2020 and there was some crowd inside in Paddy Power watching the Scilly Isles on the tiny betting tele inside there
Johnny is spot on about the racecourse experience. It’s horrendous and customers are clearly given no thought at all. At Cheltenham mostly the bar we go to (Insurance bar) often doesn’t even have the commentary on for the racing at Cheltenham! And good luck if you want to watch the racing from elsewhere as it never gets shown. They have hundreds of racegoers in a bar and with a Tote facility onsite and they don’t show a single race that’s not at Cheltenham. So good luck with the football and hurling Johnny! 🙈🙈
Johnny's comments around sports bars in racecourses was interesting... I went to Fontwell in October and they had a darts exhibition on with Keith Deller in the main bar and I was more engaged with this rather than the races on the track, mainly because I won it, but still... I wonder whether this will distract punters rather than engage them?
The worst thing about going racing is not being able to see what is going on. The amount of tracks I’ve been to and there’s one big screen in the middle of the track miles away and can barely hear any commentary.
Johnny,,,have you ever thought of keeping your powder dry until after Christmas each year .some strange results every year , which happens all the time .Horses need an outing or so to hit the top form? Happy Christmas, guys..love the show......
Great again, lads. On the WiFi in racecourses, I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but in Mallow (Cork), I've 5G in the carpark - but once I enter the stand I've no reception. Wifi is crap and probably blocking certain sites. So then forced to use on course or PP.
Agree about Nicholls. So many horses, yet struggling badly the past few years. His owners have spent big money the last couple of seasons yet his only standout horse appears to be Regent's Stroll. He should have 5 or 6 Regent's Strolls with the money being thrown about. Something far wrong with his setup.
Disagree with Johnny on showing the football. There are too many 🔔 ends going racing nowadays, all the on the Niki that are starting fights for no reason. The last thing you need is a half 5 game being shown when there are lads with 10 pints and 2gs in them just looking for an excuse to start
P Nichols said he can't compete with Mullins/Elliott but Caldwell potter the most expensive nh horse ever plus numerous other ones! Hes doesn't like it up him
DJ - buy Johnny an iron for Christmas please, there's that many crinkles in that shirt, he's looking like a pack of McCoys crisps (other brands are available).
You can't beat going to the races. I don't understand the people (especially young) who go just to get dressed up and pissed - and get in the way of real racing fans.
100% agree with ya DJ. But Langer Dan will not be rode to win this race at the weekend. Don’t get me wrong that’s the Skelton’s prerogative but hard to see him winning anything this side of Cheltenham
Where is Langer Dan 50/1 for the Stayers Hurdle,Bet365 has been 33/1 for a couple of weeks now. Exaggerating the odds. Everywhere else is between 20/1 to 25/1. If somebody offered 50/1 I would be on. You must have your races mixed up.
If he's a handicapper he's at the very top end of handicappers. He should have beaten Impaire Et Passe and Bob Olinger at Aintree last year if the stewards had done their job properly, and it's a weak race and he comes to his best in the Spring. Can't see him out of the first 3 unless the Skeltons plot him out to get a low mark in another handicap but I feel like that ship has sailed with him.
Johnny good luck with Newbury tmro but i want to warn you before you go i hope you don't mind Emily Jones roaring her head off all day she is the judge at most London tracks and would drive you bananas 😂paul Ireland
I’m not one to complain usually but I’m sorry, what has this show become? We spent the first 20 mins talking about losers, favourite Chinese meals, favourite drinks, favourite restaurants and wishing people happy birthday. On top of that why are we still sticking with a “pundit” that almost every week declares he’s made a significant loss? I have nothing against Dineen as a person, he’s very jolly and loveable and it’s nice to have that sort of character in racing, but the show has gotten further and further away from actual analysis and tips. Gavin Lynch was admittedly quite dull but at least he produced some cracking winning antepost bets, conversely I have zero faith in Dineen to tip the show’s audience a profit across the whole of next year’s Cheltenham festival.
It’s now an entertainment show with two great racing personalities. A bit like Top Gear went from car reviews to an entertainment show. If you want straight up tipping, there’s other shows out there.
If you followed Johnny every week tip wise you would do very well Regarding the humour there is plenty of space for all types let ruby and Lydia do the serious stuff personally I think there is enough beige in the world 😊😊
I was at Mallow for the Hilly Way -between races was as DJ said -like being in a morgue - I grew up going racing and the buzz was the betting ring-this was the ultimate buzz- me and my pals used follow a couple of well connected business men to see what they were backing -the minute the chalk was rubbed on that horse -we sprinted to the nearest bookie to see if that price was still there-The ring is dead and so is going racing -same went to Cheltenham last year no internet - no atmosphere between races-just wall to wall balls with lads thinking they are in peaky blinders
Inthewaterside is a good thing at Ascot, on Friday 👍 Not sure about the sports bars. If people want to watch the football, they should go to the pub. The last thing we need, are more lager louts at the track 👎 Hope DJ and Johnny will be wearing Santa hats, next week 🎅
We all knew last week Johnny was tippin up inthepocket this week… a waste of time… and if strong leader wins this weeken he’ll tip him up for the stayers in March on the next show
Ridiculous to say he's no value. He probably has the best raw form in the book and Majborough might not even go for the same race. Think he's a sensible selection given we've now seen most of his main contenders and no one has produced better form thus far.
@@Pmrace1960 How can you say the juveniles were a bad lot last year after what Sir Gino, Kargese and Majborough have done since. Even Nurburgring and Burdett Road have turned out to be very decent handicappers out of that crop of juveniles. I agree with you the crop of novices looks poor as most have come out and disappointed since, but the juveniles look to be much stronger.
@@adking18 burdett road has improved massively on the flat...i think majborough and sir gino both have the chance to improve....the supreme speed figure was about 10 ibs better than the triumph and i dont rate slade steel as a good winner...marie nationale produced a 10ib higher speed figure than slade steel....think the 3milers were average...when i said bad lot the exception is ballyburn...he is top class based on speed figures...
@@Pmrace1960 Again I agree the 3 mile novices at the festival last year didn't impress me. The horses staying on in the finish of the Martin Pipe I expect to progress better than those from the Albert Bartlett so looking forward to seeing Quai De Bourbon and seeing Better Days Ahead again over fences. Suppose it's what you're seeing visually as well though. Majborough and Sir Gino are clearly built to be chasers so we would always expect to see them improve for the switch to fences (even Sir Gino's Fighting Fifth was I think the 2nd or 3rd fastest in the last 10 years, although admittedly we haven't been blessed with top 2 mile hurdlers recently). We haven't seen any notable improvement from Slade Steel, Mystical Power, Firefox etc. - very little promise in behind Ballyburn in the Turners. Salvator Mundi is fav for this year's Supreme and unfortunately didn't make the Triumph last year but if he lives up to that promise I think you have to say the crop of juveniles is much better than the novices from last year - you also have to factor in that they're a year younger so all would be expected to improve at a decent rate.
how can you not love johnny dineen....brightens up my tuesday...

I haven't missed a episode in 2 years great show
Couldn’t stop laughing at Johnny’s rant on Nicholls horses 😂😂😂
Had a hairy week myself too but thanks to the lads here they’d but a smile on your face., great stuff again ..😀👍
great show guys as always gotta love johnny what a guy
Johnny is amazing and so funny. Love the show lads. I watch from Poland. 😊
16:40 Somewhere Paul Nicholls has just flipped his lid. 😭 That brutal honesty is why we love JD.
johnnys probably right...can only see him winning an handicap..
@ I do think Regents Stroll is a proper horse though.
cant seeing winning the supreme ...if would have to be even worse than last year...

Speaking off food the Blue Dragon between Fermoy and Mitchelstown was a great place for food after racing in 80s...
