Ruan Mei gives three things that Super Break teams really care about:
1. Break Extension
2. Toughness Shred
3. A damage amp that works in the super break formula
If you’re looking for a replacement, you want at least two of those three.
Silver wolf is the most obvious, as she gives you #2 and #3, but was probably skipped due to being a limited 5 star
Welt was mentioned, he’s a great way of extending break but also his bounce skill is a massive toughness shred assuming the enemy is imaginary weak (once broken, it doesn’t matter though)
I think the slept on option is Asta. She gives #1 in the form of speeding up your team so they get more hits every break. She her skill is a bounce, too, which has the biggest potential for toughness break on a single enemy. Fire + Imaginary also covers just about every boss in the game. Her ATK boost unfortunately isn’t part of the Super Break formula, but it’s still a factor in overall damage.
I would also consider Misha for his bounce ultimate with a chance to freeze (extending weakness break), Ratio+Topaz( if you have her) since you can just hit more often, and Serval who últs at the drop off a hat

@@allogo1056 You’re right, I tried my best to be careful by writing out “damage”. “DMG”, the stat, isn’t a part of the formula, type-RES is and RM’s ult gives you 20% RES PEN.
@@elchingon12346 what about def shred? I assume by damage amp you guys meant dmg% so how can I buff my super breaks other than using character who deal more break dmg?
Its really annoying when a character you dislike is the best with other characters you like lol. Its like "I don't want them, but my favorite character wants them to deal insane damage"

I suppose you could try looking at it a different way... Instead of "I hate this character", think "this character enables my favorite(s) to reach their max potential." I don't like Ruan Mei, but I picked her up and have no regrets. Actually thinking about getting her to E1S1.
...On the other hand, I skipped and will always skip Huohuo because I can't stand her permanently crying/sad face and fearful demeanor, even though that AoE energy alone is hype LMAO
I knew when Ruan mei came out she was like the kazuha of hsr, but unlike genshin we don’t have a 4 star alternative like sucrose making her even more valuable
I would say something kind of close is Pela for the AoE defense shred making your dual dps attack harder but still not so close to Ruan Mei
But atleast she is getting acknowledge when she first released unlike kazuha

Robin? She has massive damage boosting skill and a team wide 100% advanced forward with an additonal atk buff.

Thank you for this. I’m trying to pull myself out of the meta-slave mindset and realized I’m just not a fan of RM’s character, even if her kit is superb. I love Firefly and didn’t want to feel like I needed RM before I could pull FF.
Same reason why I don't pull for Robin even though she's extremely good support. Just don't like her appearance/personality
Why I've skipped Topaz/RM/Robin - would be great for the teams I like, but I simply don't like the characters enough to warrant playing their phenomenal kits

Sadly, im noticing that without Ruan Mei, the Superbreak damage is just not as strong. They really made Ruan Mei and HMC really important together.
Almost every HMC and Firefly showcase video I've watched has Ruan Mei, I don't have her so I'm sick of seeing her in every team lol
Technically she’s the only character who have break efficiency buff and res pen which buffs super break even further so I get why she’s on every break team (break efficiency is such an important buff for super break)
That's nice to know. My Welt recently lost his slot in my Acheron team, now he can follow Gallagher to the break team.

I actually tried a full imaginary team couple of days back for the heck of it in MoC 9 (or perhaps it was 10). The team consisted of HMC, Welt, Ratio and Aventurine. And I was so surprised that the enemies could barely move because welt kept debuffing them. My Ratio was level 60 but he still popped off thanks to super break.
Am i right in thinking that higher break effect means freeze and imprison last for longer? I remember reading that somewhere but dont know if its true

Robin is, slightly, bu I know she doesn hab the same kit, no action delay or break efficiency, she's slightly stronger bu if you want exactly what ruan Mei has bu nicer robin has similar bu not the same, there kits are parallels

Unfortunately, I am still only a month in. I missed Acheron, and I don't have Welt. I do have Aventurine and E2 Xueyi, so is running someone like Gallagher or Dr. Ratio okay as a final unit?
I have all 4* units other than Sushang, but my 5* options are still very limited.
dont try to follow guides like these if you still dont have those characters, try to play with your own characters. example if you have ratio and galla. you can do a team composition of
Ratio | Pela | Preserv TB | Galla
Thats one way to play with your units. all of these contribute to make ratio damage more powerful so dont overthink about characters alot.
I suggest building Asta and if you have E6 Yukong, you can give the Penacony planar set to Yukong as it’s what I use. Obviously the Penacony planar set is only if you’re running Ratio so Yukong can further bump his crit and damage, but the downside is I think Yukong cannot contribute to adding debuffs for Ratio to benefit from aside from Imprison I think.
As for Asta, she can inflict debuff (burn) which can benefit Ratio, but I think just use the common build for her, use the Dance LC, and focus on her ultimate. Unfortunate that Hanya’s Burden doesn’t count as debuff, I would’ve recommended her too.
As for sustain Natasha and Lynx are still pretty solid if you don’t have Luocha, but Gallagher is much better than Nat and Lynx as Ratio would greatly appreciate the extra debuff that Gallagher inflicts on the enemy. As for the shielders, Preserve!Trailblazer, March and Gepard can also inflict debuffs, so you can pick between them depending on your needs. But for Ratio, you’d probably want Aventurine with him, as they have great synergy since Aventurine can faster proc his talent with a follow up attacker.
For your lineup and if you want to use HMC. If enemies have imaginary weakness, can use Ratio, Aventurine, HMC, Guinaifen/Pela. If enemies have fire weakness, can use Asta, Gallagher, HMC, Guinaifen.
But better to just wait and pull for Firefly in future for more generic situations and play other teams in meantime. I would focus and play Ratio, Pela, Guinaifen/Asta, Adventurine for your lineup now.
I dunno if to pull ruan mei when she's back or wait for newer broken harmony character haha

@@Nebotek1 yeah.i am thinking need 2 limited harmony and switch out DPS based on element to tackle all content. 4* DPS is fine.
I suggest you find a team that you like (DoT, Hypercarry, Dual DPS, FuA, Break) and pull for the BiS units that make up the team.
If you can't decide then Ruan Mei is always a good choice because she fits in every team. While Bronya/Sparkle is better in hypercarry teams and Robin is better in FUA teams, Ruan Mei can still replace them or be played with them in Double Harmony teams. She is the most versatile Harmony support at the cost of needing high investment (160% break effect).

I think they'll eventually release new harmony characters to replace all the current ones at some point. It won't be anytime soon though.

Man i skipped entire 1.5 patch for ruan mei. Even though I lost 50 50 on her bcoz i skipped 1.5 i had enough pulls and got her and i am glad i did that. I lost 50 50 on robin so am guaranteed firefly, ruan mei and HMC gonna make her op.
Ruan Mei is basically the equivalent of Castoria from FGO

E3 Welt, it is insane! E0 Welt is way worse from E1 Welt, and E3 ... I am a Day 1 player and I was "lucky" to get a single copy of Bronya, 2 copies of Gepard and 2 copies of Himeko from all banners I wished on (well, I also got a Yanqing - but from the deparature banner :)), and I consider myself rather lucky since... you know, I didn't get that character no one wants :) But three Welts, man, that is either insane 50/50 loss luck, or you are a whale. As F2P, I have E0 Welt, and he helped me immensely in Simulated Universe (Swarm Disaster) to clear the Nihility path. I did use him once in a Memory of Chaos. But he is far from good in my opinion, his damage is bad - before E1 as CCs say. I would try him with Harmony trailblazer, but I had to give GNSW to Acheron, now my Welt has no light cone. :( I think I do not have a choice but buy Welt's sig LC from the shop.

As a unit she is undoubtedly incredibly busted.

@davestew5135 Maybe, but honestly, even though he's a follower of the Order, I guess Harmony is close enough. I can't see him being anything else. I'm also thinking that making him Harmony would be make Harmony too saturated, since we've gotten Robin, Sparkle, and Ruan Mei so close together
