Emma Watson, for example, does a terrible American accent. It is SO forced and her British accent slips through a lot. Daniel Radcliffe is better, but you can still tell it’s forced. Even complete legends like John Hurt couldn’t perfectly nail an American accent, and he’s my favorite actor of all time (see the 2008 film Recount, his British accent slips through all over the place, unfortunately). Robert’s standard American accent is dang near perfect, and I can say that as an American. It sounds so natural and not like a British person trying to hide their accent. His Southern American accents (Rover, Devil All The Time) are dang near perfect, too. I was born and raised in the South, and his accent in Rover and Devil All The Time legit sound like a lot of people I grew up with. In fact, there was a guy I went to high school with who was a little bit “slow” and was held back in ninth grade, and he had the look, mannerisms, and accent EXACTLY like his part in The Rover. We’re talking all the way down to the buzzcut, the baggy t-shirts, the tics, and the thick Southern drawl, it was so accurate. When I saw that film, his character straight up reminded me of that guy I went to high school with. His creepy Southern preacher in Devil sounded like a lot of older adults that went to my church when I was a kid/teen. Both were spot on.

It was spot on! I was born and raised in the South, and it reminded me of a lot of the older adults that went to my church when I was a kid/teen. It didn’t sound fake or forced like a lot of actors who try to speak in Southern accents. You can tell those actors had a dialect coach and speak with a more “theatrical” version of a Southern accent instead of the real deal. Robert’s doing the real deal. Same with The Rover. He legit looked and sounded like a guy I went to high school with in that role.
He perfected the more "common" American accent over time, in twilight he was still learning and perfecting how to do it for the movies, but he actually did it pretty well bc many, many of his twilight fans were surprised to find out later that he was British.. *In the movie* *"Good Time"* by the Safdie brothers *from 2017, he adopted the Queens Long Island,* New York *dialect and he sustained the accent throughout the whole movie.*

I really liked his accent in The Devil All The Time.
It was spot on! I was born and raised in the South, and it reminded me of a lot of the older adults that went to my church when I was a kid/teen. It didn’t sound fake or forced like a lot of actors who try to speak in Southern accents. You can tell those actors had a dialect coach and speak with a more “theatrical” version of a Southern accent instead of the real deal. Robert’s doing the real deal. Same with The Rover. He legit looked and sounded like a guy I went to high school with in that role.

He perfected the more "common" American accent over time, in twilight he was still learning and perfecting how to do it for the movies, but he actually did it pretty well bc many, many of his twilight fans were surprised to find out later that he was British.. *In the movie* *"Good Time"* by the Safdie brothers *from 2017, he adopted the Queens Long Island,* New York *dialect and he sustained the accent throughout the whole movie.*
