    Just got the aculeus 460 cams and axle to axle went out spec due to string stretch. Thank you for the vid. Marked block of wood like you did makes it easy to check. Got it back performing great again. Thanks again for the information and tips Sir !!!

    My new Barnett hypertac 420 , fired ten bolts and knock point is off now by 1/8” grooving my bolts. Problem is my axle to Axle is measured in the full draw resting on the trigger, I can’t find timing marks on the cams to true them into position, they could be both off now . Can’t find axle to axle t relaxed position or specs for timing marks

    Can you use the screwdriver on a split limb crossbow? I used to use a screwdriver to hold the cams on my compound bows, but that was 30 years ago. They were solid limbs and made from fiberglass I think.

    Great video, thank you! Please help me with finding my timing measurement! I can not find it anywhere and called Scorpyd with no success. They told me it did not matter? Does anyone know the timing measurement from the limb to the center of the timing hole for a Deathstalker 400???

    I’ve got a grim reaper death stalker that has never shot right. It went back to Iowa a few years ago. Temporarily shot better but the groups started spreading. I put it away. Are you interested in doing some work on it? I trust you to figure out what’s wrong and get it right. Please send me a PM on CB nation if you’re interested. Thanks!

      Definitely recommend. Worth EVERY penny, especially during any archery season. I'd recommend the aculeus 460. Never missed an animal with it. Always clean passthroughs no matter the angle or what bone it hits (busts right through both shoulders), and it shoots so flat I can shoot through tiny openings in the branches. Been able to get shots at 65 yards on turkey while they're moving even.

    Tim,
    I’ve got my vent 150 dead on. Half timing hole marks on inside of limbs. My vent 175 extreme: timing holes are 3/8” and ATA is 19 1/2”. I’m trying to remember if you recommended I take a twist or two off the string (to relax the ATA)? Because I think someone else may have mentioned that on CB nation
    I was tweaking my Grim Reaper deathstalker. Right now I have the ATA at 17 7/16” which is 1/16 less than factory spec. The cams are @ 5/16” timing. Right now I have no turns in my string. I can see the fibers running straight across on both sides of the serving.
    A couple of the guys said if I shoot about 20 arrows through the bow it may settle down and the ATA may come back? What are your thoughts on that?
    Because right now I can’t take any more twists off the string. I could take half a twist off of each cable to get the ATA back to 17 1/2”. But that’s going to cause the timing holes to move a touch closer to the limbs.
    Again let me know your thoughts on this?
    Thanks!

    • @timburkhardt582
      @timburkhardt582  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah take one twist out of the cables on the DS

    • @timburkhardt582
      @timburkhardt582  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe 2 twist and put at least one in the string .

    • @johnforsyth8414
      @johnforsyth8414 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So basically we’re letting the timing marks fall out wherever they are? Maybe 1/4”?

    • @johnforsyth8414
      @johnforsyth8414 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim
      I took a twist and a half of the cables and added two twists to the string. My timing is now 1/4” on both cams. My ATA is a hair under 17/12” (maybe 1/32” short). I’m pretty sure when I re-zero tomorrow it will settle in
      Eventually I have to check the Aculeus 480 & the Nemesis 480
      Thanks again!

    can this be done on the Nemesis. Theres no way I can pull the string back that far with my hand to put the screwdriver in with my 480 model.

    • @timburkhardt582
      @timburkhardt582  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes it can be done .
      do you have the new acad crank on that 480 ? if so crank it back a few rev;s and stick in the screw driver then loosen the star nut , or use a cocking device and have a helper put in the screw driver .

  • @savvysavage1857

    So how do you know which ones to adjust? (String or cable)

    • @timburkhardt582
      @timburkhardt582  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all depends on where your timing marks are at .
      Let's say your timing marks are where they need to be and they are sync'd , but your ATA is out 1/8 th of an inch .
      you want to twist the string and cables the same amount .
      Now if the cams are in sync , the ATA is out and the timing marks are closer to the inside of the limb , and not where they need to be then you would want to twist both cables the same tighter . until the timing marks are where they need to be .
      Now lets say the timing is not where it needs to be ( closer to the limb ) and the ATA is spot on spec , and the cams are in sync , you would want to take one twist out of the string and one twist in the cables .
      This will rotate the cams , and not change ATA or sync .

    • @savvysavage1857
      @savvysavage1857 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. I’ve had to put 3 twist in one cable to get the cams in sync and the ata is perfect. Now my problem is that I don’t know the exact distance my timing holes need to be from the limbs. I’ve contacted Rex but didn’t get an exact answer on where they should be. Deathstalker 380...any clue?

    • @timburkhardt582
      @timburkhardt582  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@savvysavage1857 If i remember my DS 380 was around 3/8 of an inch from the inside of the limb to the center of the hole , if it is close to that and the bow shoots smooth i would leave it alone .
      if it is less than that and The ATA is good then you would want to put one twist in the cables and one out of the string . this will rotate the cams but not affect Sync and ATA .

    • @savvysavage1857
      @savvysavage1857 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      tim burkhardt very informative! What if the left cam is still slightly advanced towards the draw after the 3 twist compared to the right. I’m worried all these twist on one side is problematic but I’m new to this and learning! Thanks for the help btw

    • @timburkhardt582
      @timburkhardt582  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@savvysavage1857 in a case like this , this is what i would do .
      Seeing that your ATA is dead on i would put a half twist in the cable you twisted 3 times and take out a half of a twist in the other cable .
      Then check it .

    Tim, I have several Scorpyd models. Vent 150, vent 175 extreme, grim reaper DS 400, Aculeus 480 and the nemesis 480 with the aero crank
    I have all the axle to axle specs (uncocked). Are the timing mark distances the same for all of them? I’m going to check them all this week. I haven’t been on CB nation in quite a while. Thanks for any help!

    • @timburkhardt582

      They are all different , the 150 you want half the hole showing in the spoke .
      the 175 you want 3/ to the center of the hole in the spoke .
      the DS 400 i have no idea ,lol.
      the nemesis is the same as the 175 I think .
      Everything measured from inside of the limb .

      It was almost 3/8 of an inch off of the axle to axle. I had an extra set of cables and a string. I finally got it done. I’ve got it at 19 5/8 inch axle to axle. The timing holes are about 1/3 visible inside the limbs. I’ve got a thread active right now in Crossbo nation. I’m going to post pictures of this vent 150 with the cams

    Hi. I’m working on changing my strings and cables on my Scorpyd. My timing is perfect at 5/16” to the center line of the timing hole. My ATA is 17 7/16” it’s supposed to be 17 1/2”. How can I get that 1/16” to
    17 1/2” so that it’s perfect?
