This is so interesting just recently I have been wanting to do more research on my history and a couple years ago I started the ancestry search and with this research. I have found that my lineage goes back to Basque and Spain. It continues and grows in Chihuhahua Mx. and this comes from either my maternal grandmother or paternal grandmother I have this knowing that this is no coincendence I know that I come from long lineage of witches which I have had a great fascination for most of my life with However, with a strong Catholic upbringing. It was not discussed this was considered evil. Out of nowhere I decided to do more research on you tube in the Spanish inquisition since I have had a few readings that brings up this specific time not only that. I have had a great fascination for Spain from this time period 1400- 1600 and I'm not sure why. Now with this information that you have shared my next stop is chihuahua, and do much more research there then continue with Basque. Thank you so much for sharing. TH-cam led me to a documentary, "song of the Basque" made in 1995 and narrated by John Forsyth. It starts near my LA home town, Agoura, which was named after a Basque settler, small world! It's a great snapshot of 1995 which you might enjoy.
Yes, they really did take a leap into the unknown. We imagine they must have felt they had been transported to a different planet; Auritz and Naica are wildly different terrains.

Greg has family in the Ojai region who connected with Basques in Bakersfield and his parents would frequently make the trek to Bakersfield (from L.A.) in order to eat "authentic Basque food." They used to say the lamb was the best lamb they had ever eaten.

Either one! They are used interchangeably here.
