    BABYMETAL 101
Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Kei “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal).
The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (25 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance. Moa Kikuchi aka "Moametal", pronounced as Moa-Metal (23 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal (20 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.)
    Past Formations.
    Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consists of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is a group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature, which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them.

    Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017)
Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all-power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show “I” was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own.
Babymetal as it is with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of its existence. Also established beyond the 3-member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018)
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost, leaving behind his wife and only child.
In September 2018 Yui formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refused or were too stupid to understand and formed the cancerous Yui-Cultists that would plague the fandom until Momometals debut. There are some holdouts, but thankfully they have become very rare.)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.

Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story if they claim it is they are 100% lying to you.)
Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020)
First introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.
    Music Videos of this Era
    Pa Pa Ya
    Elevator Girl
    Shanti Shanti
    Da Da Dance
    (Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihira, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before.
Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it.

COVID Era (Mar 2020 to April 2021)
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans at the time was what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has moved on to other projects, including starting a fan club. Kano Fujihara graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4-month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaft Momoko Okazaki who is a graduate of Sakura Gakuin in March 2018 would be the last standing Avenger until she would become the new member of Babymetal.
      Music Videos of this Era
BxMxC (First music video that isn’t footage from a show and featuring Su and Moa since Karate in 2015)
      Post 10-year Anniversary/ Covid Era Part 2 (May 2021-September 2022)
The band stepped back from live shows due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and focusing on the sale of Merch. There were a few months of a pure break with Su, and Moa taking some time thinking about their future as they stated in an interview. This was a short few months (Their words) they went quickly back to work in less than a year logistically speaking as they spent time working on a new concept album the choreography and planning the massive world tour in 2023. The word hiatus is used a lot, and some idiots thought BM might never comeback or believe this was a true hiatus. Ignore their drama they just want attention, it was nothing like a true hiatus, people who claim it was are liars. They took a short break the girls took a few months to reflect but were back making their 4th album working on the choreograph and setting up their largest world tour in the groups history. You have to be an idiot to think they set all of that up in like 2 months.
Momoko had a very very short stint in a Korean Idol Competition Show called Planet 99. She performed perfectly, better than most of the other girls in the show. She even got the most votes in a small side competition destroying all the other 98 girls in the show in votes. This won her some hair dye (She was blonde for a bit). Ultimately be it dumb BM fans thinking the side competition was the actual competition, how the judging was heavily skewed to Korean voters, the fact that her fate was tied to 2 other girls one Korean and one Chinese, and or possibly ridged voting something the company producing the show has done in the past, Momoko was eliminated in the very first round.
The Other One (October 2022-April 2023)
They had released 5 songs on TH-cam, and they performed a show in January 2023 where they performed these new songs leading up to the released of their Album in March with 10 new songs. During January and February shows Su and Moa were supported by Momoko. On April First (Fox Day) Their new show played many new and old songs as well as officially made Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal the official 3rd member. Bringing Babymetal back to a 3-member unit once again. This all kicked off their world tour in touring with Sabaton in Europe then Asia and Australia, and tours in US in the fall and a solo tour in Europe in winter, with a tour finally in Japan in 2024. All of this is proof there was no true hiatus, just sensational fans who want to make things more dramatic than they truly were.

The New Era of Babymetal (April 2023-Current)
After doing what Su-Metal described in Interviews as the Training Beginning, Su, Moa, and Momo toured Europe with Sabaton, then had solo tours in Asia and Australia, before returning to Japan and having a few solo shows along with hitting the Summer Sonic and other Festivals in Japan before their major tour in the United States with DETHKLOK in September. They spent some time in October to do a festival in Japan and perform with Bring Me the Horizon in their song Kingslayer live for the first time. They completed their EU Tour and are taking a break as they prepare for 2024 with shows in Okinawa and Legend MM a 2 day Birthday Bash for Momoko’s 20/21 birthday (They missed her 20th). They also already have many 2024 festival dates in the US and EU and solo shows in Spain.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journe.🦊🤘🔥
My suggestion to follow your journey is go back and listen songs from early era to compare and appreciate the evolution of this amazing group, trust me, you ain't see nothing yet.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st 2023.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
    About this song:
This song was part of the Babyklok Tour in the US and later at the Europe & UK Tour already finished during the World Tour 2023, everyone love this song and were having a blast with the girls headbanging real hard in the middle section instead of the usual bowing down on their knees or having fun with the cryo smoke gun.
Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind.
Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday.
15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date.
Song came out in 2012 and there are a lot of versions with the girls being super young and also with the original trio including the official MV but the live version you should really not miss is the live at Legend 1997 in 2013. This live version is fine showing a more mature BM and the classic -NotACult- moment with the crowd, it was at BabyMetal Returns The Other One, Makuhari Messe 2023 marking a return to the stage after the pandemic situation and almost two years without performing on stage.
I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get more clips safe to react to enjoy those songs from early era if YT allows me to do it.
    See you next time 🦊🤘🛐

Typical BabyMetal reaction: I hope they have not broken your mind 🤣 and i dont think there is anyone out there that can control a crowd like BabyMetal. They have just realised a live video of Metali ft Tom Morello ( not exactly there , on backing track ) from the festival you saw them with, Bring me the Horizon performing Kingslayer they had just done their performance and watched BMTH before joining them for Kingslayer,

Great reaction, very fun watching! Babymetal is one of the best live bands in any genre ever, they are amazing. You can pick at random a song and a concert, and it will be outstanding.
For Headbanger - one of their earliest concerts was "Legend 1997"; it was done on Su-Metal's 16th birthday and the whole concert is a celebration. It opens with an operatic/house version of headbanger (Ave Marie headbanger), then around song 13 of the set is a pure metal version. The crowd is insane. The concert itself is performed as a rock opera telling the story of Su-Metal sacrificing herself as a JPop idol to become a metal goddess. It's one of the best concerts I have ever watched, except for a dozen or so other contenders that are also Babymetal concerts.
They also mix in other metal sub-genres to almost every song they perform, and when i say other genres I mean if you can think of it they have probably done it. including scandanavian folk metal. and egyptian metal-core. and brooklyn rap. they are so good.

No, they don't have any fillers. The fans are known collectively as 'The One' and BabyMetal wrote a tribute song to the fans called that. If and when you check it out look for a red triangle. Excellent choice for a first Babymetal song to react to. Headbanger is a classic song from Babymetal's early days, but this performance was at their first show back following their return from hiatus in early 2023. The fans at this show were particularly hyped because it was the first live show in almost 2 years after an uncertain period were fans feared they might be disbanding, so emotions were running high. I was actually at this show myself and it was an incredible experience. During the bowing section in the middle, I started to get a bit of a sore back from all the bowing, but the whole thing was such fun.
Babymetal are above all a live performance band. You can listen to their albums and watch the music videos, but Babymetal is made to be experienced live, and their live shows are legendary. As you may have gathered, the crowd plays a huge role in Babymetal performances and being there and taking part is required to get the full experience. All of their songs have parts for the fans to participate in and everyone who goes to their shows regularly knows what to do.
Suggestion for what to watch next: "Monochrome" live at PIA Arena MM April 2023.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 You noticed the crowd shouted at 07:42 "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!" (addressed to crybabies in the metal concert). This crowd's shout in Japanese occurs whenever Su-Metal turns her mic towards the audience. So did Amarican crowd in their 2023 North America tour (with DETHKLOK). This show was very special, because BM restarted their activities after some two-year long hiatus. I witnessed it at the venue and enjoyed this popular song with Su's matured voice and more agitating moves by Moa and Momoko. Did I do headbang? Oh yes. In addition, you saw Dogeza banging. Dogeza (= kneel & bow until forehead touches the ground) is the most abject and disgraceful way to show apology or unconditional surrender in Japan. We never see people doing it happily and smilingly in other place than BM concerts. So I did Dogeza with bliss celebrating BM's return.

Great first reaction proper with one of their own songs and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole (no rabbits in here).🦊 They are one of the very best live acts on the planet right now (certainly my favourite and the most entertaining concerts I've been to and I saw many of the recognised great live bands in their prime - BABYMETAL are right up among or above all of them). As you saw, they are masters of crowd control, they want everybody there to be part of the performance and they do everything they can to make that happen.
First your questions - yes BABYMETAL is "click and win", no fillers at all (but every song is different so you may like some more than others - in the unlikely case you find a song you don't like - no problem, try another and the chances are you will love it).
There are favourite versions of some songs that most may point you towards for one reason or another, but every performance is great.
Yes there are official music videos and they are all very good and all well worth seeing, but BABYMETAL are a live performance act first and foremost - live performances are where you will always see them at their best.
Sorry about this (and I think I told you all this when you watch 'Kingslayer' - but in case you didn't see it then I will repeat it - just this once, promise).
BABYMETAL were formed in 2010, the brainchild and passion project of their metalhead producer Kei Kobayashi who was inspired to try this mad idea of fusing metal with JPop aesthetics and vocals after seeing lead singer Su-metal with her previous group and being so impressed by her vocal talents and stage presence. He thought it might just inject some youth into and help rejuvenate the stagnant metal and rock music scene - as it was in Japan at that time.
The three members (Su-metal - lead vocalist, Yuimetal and Moametal - backing vocals, harmonies and in charge of hyping and involving the crowd through their choreo) were aged 12, 11 and 11. We have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet.
Yuimetal last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for health reasons until she announced she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band.
Su and Moa continued as a duo for 4 or 5 years supported from 2019 by 3 dancers who would take turns dancing in the third spot until 1st April 2023 when one of those dancers, Momoko, was finally revealed as the new official third member.
BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics to create their very own sub-genre ... and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings.
They don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music).
BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement.
They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They first appeared in October 2012 and became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014.
In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced and they have been supporting BABYMETAL on their more extended foreign tours since then.
I know you will be getting a load of recommendations and suggestions for more songs - go with any of them, you can't go wrong (maybe leave 'Gimme Chocolate' until you are more used to them and what they do), but remember - although the official videos are all good and worth seeing, BABYMETAL are a live performance act - that is where you will always see - and hear - them at their very best.
For another reaction I would suggest their first major event outside of Japan. Aged 16 and only just turned 15 they faced a potentially hostile crowd of over 50,000 UK metalheads - 99% of them had no clue who they were. They had 25 minutes, just 5 songs, to try to impress them.
The last song of the set was 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (Bullying, No More, For Ever) live at Sonisphere UK 2014 ... you can hear what the crowd thought of them at the end.

    All hail the Queen!!! 👑
Welcome to the Foxhole! 🤘🦊🤘 (no rabbit hole here).
As you noticed, a Babymetal show is not a spectator sport. It is very much a participatory event, which is why the fan-base is collectively called "THE ONE" (individually, men are 'Kitsune' and women are 'Megitsune').
Now for my wall of (un) important information....
BABYMETAL started as an experimental sub-unit of the larger JPop/JRock group Sakura Gakuin.
    Babymetal is:
Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess.
Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers" and was a member of the JPop trio, Karen Girls.
Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite
Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Former member since 2018: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Yui had a minor role as a child actor in a Japanese TV Drama before joining Sakura Gakuin. She has cute, chubby cheeks.
Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs.
** WARNING ** Do NOT, ever, under any circumstances call her “small”, "smol", “short” or “tiny” (same rule applies to Moametal).
Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love\Smile, Queen of Hearts, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon. She has huge dimples and a smile that melts the hardest of hearts.
Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage with little pranks as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs.
Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Joy, Kawaii Princess, Princess Peach, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Queen. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot!
Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch.
BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows.
AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021.
    They were:
    Momoko Okazaki (see above).
Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist.
Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin and like Yui, was considered arguably the best dancer in SG during her time there. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive.
    We are #notacult.

ou may open a bunch of rabbit holes but my friend, you've just stumbled into the FoxHole. Welcome to #THEONE
Also to your amazement with the crowd, BABYMETAL's fandom name is *THE ONE* since the crowd is part of the performance and are one with the Band. Hence why the participation is in sync. Organized chaos in it's purest form.
Also, they are one of those anomalies that sound 10x better live. So as much as you can, when you do more reactions to the girls, please react to Live Shows. My suggestion on what's next to React would be "Road of Resistance Live in Japan"

  • @tanewoodley9806

Great reaction. This isn't an accident, the respect, adoration and admiration Babymetal earn from their audience has to be seen to be believed. It's been going on for a long time too; check out Headbanger (same song) live at Legend 1997, performed for Su's 16th birthday whilen Yui and Moa (the dancers/backup vocals) were 14, the crowd were exactly the same.
Babymetal has no filler, the sheer quality and consistency of their discography is hard to believe. I could name 20 songs that are masterpieces, and all of the rest are solid at worst.
I'd suggest an early song next, like Ijime Dame Zettai at Sonisphere 2014 to see how awesome they were from the start (the British crowd loved them too). Or Catch Me If You Can at Budokan 2014 to see how awesome the band is.

That was a hilarious reaction. Your look of shocked astonishment through that whole performance was an absolute joy. Babymetal does have that effect and no worries Babymetal are a banger every time out of the gate-with the one advisory that these three ladies (with one original member who left, and one new member recently added) have been at this in one form or another since 2010. Babymetal is more of an experience than a mere 'band'. Their long history is filled by a complicated mythos and lore and it's been a long and winding road indeed to now. I think you actually got bit by the bug so here's a suggestion. This a very recent version of one of Babymetal's most beloved performances going back to 2014. I'd suggest going back to that truly epic performance see where the ladies got started and then you have the opportunity of filling in those 10 yeas in the middle with incredible, always genre bending, always amazing music/performances (I'll include the link to that video. It is a must see for anyone asking WTF is Babymetal!) Su aka Sumetal lead singer is 16 in the aforementioned performance and Yui-the beloved member who left due to health reasons and Moa are both 14. This performance of "Headbanger" is legendary: th-cam.com/video/YjjWZpf_jSs/w-d-xo.html

Hi Dan. Hope you're well. I'm so happy you've covered Babymetal. As you know, I was one of the first to suggest Nightwish but I can't remember if I mentioned Babymetal. I've seen them live 4 times here in London , the last time being at the end of November of last year. I have become very protective of the girls because they have become easy targets for the metal 'purests' to knock. What they fail to understand is that they are an experience (very much like Nightwish) and not just a music concert. Su Metal, the lead singer has a very strong voice - the other girls can sing too - the choreography is perfect. The accompanying band are called the Kami Band and I would love you to see them at their best. Maybe it would've been less of a shock to start with a few of Su Metal's solo songs with the band such as 'Rondo of Nightmare' with the Kami Band intro or 'Akatsuki' - - 'Amore' and 'No Rain no Rainbow'. Just like Nightwish, the live performances are preferred. I feel I do have to mention that Babymetal seem to be very strong with the copyright - but I believe there's a TH-cam Babymetal Reactors resource group which helps with getting videos through by using some kind of watermark filter to avoid any problems. As I've bored you many times about me seeing many bands over the last 40 years, I must say, but Babymetal are right up there - the Kami Band are some of the best musicians I've ever heard and they just cheer you up - puts a smile on my face when I'm having a bad day - 'Papaya' does just that as does the latino influenced 'Night Night Burn' which they only did in the Spanish shows unfortunately. I'm rambling now 😊😅 - just wanted to let you know that you've come across something really unique and special. Take good care of yourself as always.....David 😊

The crowd is like a 4thm meber at times. BabyMetal uses a lot of call and responce in thier songs. One reactor joked that if you went to a BM show and didnt shout with them, you'd be ostasized. :) If you wish you continue your journey down the foxhole I'd suggest you check out Road of Resistance (Live in Japan) they have several music videos, though fans will always say live is better than studio, but I personally do like the MVs for Karate and Megitsune they better tell the story for me being a non japanese understanding person. But if you want a real shocker, I'd suggest the Doki Doki Morning video. it was the very first one they made back in 2012 or so. I'm sure someone will correct me.

Road of Resistance for crowd control on steroids. Rondo of Nightmare with God of Mischief intro to see the "backing" band the Kami band flex royally! Add, Megitsune(my favourite) and a multitude of others. You really are in for the musical ride of your life. For comparison, do Doki, Doki morning(the first song when they were really young) to anything off the newest album to hear and se how much they have changed over the years.

    @armitage9 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Good reaction.
BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin.
Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.).
One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born.
The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads.
And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them.
And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did).
In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on TH-cam (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. KobaMetal had doubts about taking the step, since their musical proposal (Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal, a genre of which they are considered creators) might not be accepted in the West and the metalheads who went to the Sonisphere had a reputation for saying goodbye to very bad manners to the artists they didn't like (even with bottles full of urine), but they were offered to go to one of the secondary stages (about 5000 spectators) and they ended up accepting.
But the success of BabyMetal on TH-cam and the fact that all the concerts they were going to give in Europe were sold out in a few days, convinced the producers to take them to the main stage, where they would share with groups like Metallica, for example.
How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. .
But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one."
And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well.
They currently have 4 albums on the market:
-Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces. Headbangers! is from this album.
-Metal Resistence (2016): an album that, without losing the essence of the first, shows more mature music, going from childhood to adolescence. Songs like Karate were a large part of his presentation in the West.
-Metal Galaxy (2018): a turning point in its style. Without abandoning their energy, they turned their attention to new forms of metal fusion (hip-hop, dance music, Hindu music or European folklore, among others), projecting a much more mature music in keeping with their age, which was already around 21 years old. of Su and the 18 of Moa (unfortunately Yui left the group due to health problems).
And now in 2023 they have just released their new album "The Other One", which is, again, totally different from what they have done until now (one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal is that their songs are usually very different some from others (although they are all positive adrenaline releases).
Currently BabyMetal is considered the most important Heavy Metal group in Japan (I'm not saying the best, that's for everyone to decide) and the most influential in history in the West (it has reached levels that no other Japanese heavy group has reached before). ).
The journey through the Babymetal galaxy may be long, but it is certainly entertaining and with a few songs it drags you with a smile into the fox hole

Megitsune music video or pa pa ya live would probably be more towards your wheel house, similar energy to Kingslayer.
But if you want to see the band behind yhe girls shred it up before they sing do : Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live

My grandson is absolutely nuts about BabyMetal, he has everything they've ever released, then just before last Christmas I finally took him to see them in concert. He still hasn't stopped talking about that night... An amazing live band.

they have been going for a long time now, they were 10/11 when they started in 2010. one left the band in 2018 yuimetal through illness. it was a twosome till 2023 when another girl joined the group, and here we are in 2024. 13yrs later. so much songs you have to catch up with. good luck and enjoy the fox hole experience. one of my favourite is a song named BABYMETAL DEATH , but i don't think you're ready for it just now. but good luck.

    Very cool!!!
It was with this song, from the first album, that Babymetal had Kami Band on stage for the first time - until that moment the band was a scenographic one (BabyBones). If you have time/curiosity, you can check this first time on TH-cam (2012)

*Bradford Fire* celebrity song recommendations. There's:
1 - *The Crowd You'll Never Walk Alone* - which is in 480p and is basically the *Band Aid* (celebrity song for charity) for the *Bradford Burns Unit.*
2 - *Bradford City Fire: The Crowd - You'll Never Walk Alone* which is the same video in 360p, but has a *Top of the Pops* introduction.
3 - *The Crowd 2015 - You'll Never Walk Alone* - which features *The Chuckle Brothers, Owen Paul, Billy Shears, Flint Bedrock, Sean O’Sullivan, Nigel Hunter, Danny Tetley, Dene Michael* (from Black Lace), *Clive Jackson* (from The Doctor and The Medics), *Rick Wild* (from The Overlanders), *Kaz Buxton* (from Echofire), *Tom & Dom* (from Bantams Banter), *The Aim,* and the Bradford pantomime legend *Billy Pearce,* again to raise money for the *Bradford Burns Unit.*
*The Crowd* (1985 version which is the 1st and 2nd video) features *Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers, Bruce Forsyth, Denny Laine, Jim Diamond, Tony Christie, Rick Wakeman, John Conteh, The Barron Knights, Jess Conrad, Kiki Dee, the Foxes, Rolf Harris, Graham Gouldman, Kenny Lynch, Rick Wild of The Overlanders, Keith Chegwin, Tony Hicks, Colin Blunstone, Tim Hinkley, Johnny Logan, Zak Starkey, Girlschool, Black Lace, John Otway, Gary Holton, Peter Cook, the Nolans, John Entwistle of The Who, Motörhead, Dave Lee Travis, Graham Dene, Ed Stewart, Phil Lynott, Smokie, Joe Fagin, Eddie Hardin, Gerard Kenny, Tim Healy, John Verity, Rose Marie, David Shilling, Chris Norman, Bernie Winters, Robert Heaton, and Frank Allen of The Searchers.*

This is an awesome performance, but as a long time BM fan from 2014 onwards, performances from 2013 to 2017 that feature the original 3 members and the original Kami Band without masks are my favourites. So I prefer the Headbanger versions from "Legend 1997" and "Budokan Black Night".
As you might have noticed Headbanger is a song that BM have been singing for a long time and it's one of the early songs that they still sing. It's about a girl on her 15th birthday who goes to a concert and gets lost in the atmosphere and the mosh pit. It's bittersweet though as she realizes that she'll soon leave childhood behind and she vows to remember her feelings on that night. Both Yui and Moa have taken the lead vocals on it to celebrate their own birthdays.

It took me a long time to figure out how the crowd knew what to say at that point where they yell out that line.
It's a moment in the original video (and maybe original studio recording).

Yes, there was a time when I did not know of BabyMetal, or Japanese hard rock and metal. I thought rock had died.
Ah, but I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now.

Nice reaction. Welcome to the foxhole. One doesn't simply go to a Babymetal show, you become part of the concert. Babymetal fans are known as the One. As in one with the band. This song is all about going to your first concert at 15 unaccompanied. Legal age to do so in Japan. Once there she rushes to the front of the stage. They sing hediban which is headband in Japanese but it is also means number 1 fan. They headband and declare they are the top fan. This is a fan favorite. They change their performances of songs over the years. So don't be too surprised when someone asks for you to react to the same song from a different show. They're well worth watching too. The foxhole is deep and fullnof surprises
