10:49 This is the one moment that makes this movie far superior to The Ten Commandments. When Charlton Heston-Moses leaves Ramses at this point in that movie, he’s praising God and being all prophet-like, with no sympathy for Ramses’ son, or for any of the other Egyptians who’ve lost their children. Here, Moses breaks down and weeps.

I agree. Though there is some awesome stuff in Ten Commandments as well. However Ben Hur is the much stronger Charlton Heston faith-based movie

Fun fact: the actress who played Yocheved (Moses' biological mother) sang Deliver Us in 18 different languages, and if you can find them on TH-cam all are fantastic. Ofra Haza is a talented voice actress and singer.

    • @rpvee
      @rpvee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

And the film’s animators were so impressed by her that they based Yocheved’s look on Ofra’s own appearance. Hans Zimmer also used her voice throughout the score (like Moses’ exile and return to Egypt scenes).

Back when PG meant that things could get real dark and twisted.
And fun trivia: for the Voice of God at the burning bush scene, they settled on having Val Kilmer be the main voice to be a reflection of him playing Moses and being both calm and intimating, but the other actors recorded for it as well and can be heard as whispers throughout the moment

The One Voice Children's Choir does an amazing cover of "When You Believe," filmed at Omaha Beach in Normandy, I bet Mom would love it.
The film isn't allowed to be shown in Islamic countries because it visually depicts a religious figure, which is considered a form of idolatry by many Muslims.
So glad y'all could finally see this! Wonderful style, animation, and soundtrack. I loved the idea of showing Moses having a strong relationship with the pharaoh's family, and the conflict he may have had about opposing his brother. I also really liked the portrayal of the burning bush and the voice of God. I don't think this film is underrated at all, it's beloved by millions, won awards, and became a musical that's currently in London's West End and will probably end up on Broadway.

The Biblical story bristles with allegory and metaphor that most people don’t catch. A few … the structure of the 10 commandments is demonstrated in the motions of Moses and Aaron’s hands during the plagues. The commandments form three layers: top divine, immediate material bottom, and intermediate middle. This is reflected in the seven day creation by what’s being created. The plagues are in reverse order to this. Notice where Aaron’s and Moses’ hands are pointing.

Without a doubt, one of the best animated movies of all time! I am christian but that's not why I'm saying that, it definitely adds to it but it's not the main reason! Trust me there's a lot more bad christian movies than there are good ones, this is a great one!

Wether your religious or not this is a great film, the art style, writing and story is powerful and I love it. Being christian aside I like how just stupid everyone else is except Moses and the people who follow him like how arrogant can you be to keep letting your people die when you won't accept whats right in front of you

pharaoh : kill the children, reduce their numbers
    everyone : that's bad!!
god : kill the first born just because i cant think of any other way to get pharaoh who i made his heart harden to listen to me.
    everyone : god is great!!!
reason why i left Christianity, reason i cant stand it, though that being said prince of Egypt is a great fantasy story, very well done and the music is amazing.

God literally gave Pharaoh so many chances to just let the Hebrews go lol, he brought it upon himself and Egypt suffered for it. you think ten plagues weren’t enough or..? God “hardening Pharaoh’s heart” doesn’t necessarily mean that He made Pharaoh not listen to Him because in the same way, God can also soften people’s hearts to make them more receptive of what people are trying to tell them (e.g. Acts 16:14, 1 Samuel 6:6). ultimately it’s still your choice though, no one forced Pharaoh to go on a genocidal rampage. also the firstborns weren’t necessarily all children as the movie depicts, Exodus 11:4-5. but yeah, let’s complain whenever evil happens and then keep complaining when God does something to stop it. logic 🤯
i agree that it’s an amazing movie tho, you’re right about that.

god : ok pharaoh im going to harden your heart so you disobey me
also god : wtf why you disobeying me?!
also egypt suffered for it? so people who had nothing to do with any of this had to lose their first born child? oh ya that seems fair lets punish what a horrible god, funny how people disliked how pharaoh killed kids to thin the herd and yet same people are ok with god killing children just to prove power... lmao

@@7svn. i believe that we are wrong to think of firstborn's as only infants and toddlers the first borns are the rightful heir of the father to lead or to rule in his place and I think that the middle age firstborn of Egypt would be current leaders or at least would be leaders of the nation if not already leaders they would be the next generation of leaders and if leaders they would be those largely responsible for the oppression of the Israelites. while it is true that God did send the angel of death pharaoh ordered that all firstborn's of the Israelites to be killed with the support of all of Egypt God is merciful and compassionante and not willing that any should perish the severity of God's dealing with Egypt was not pleasurable to God was only just a response to the cruelty and oppression of Egypt for many years. Next why would God harden pharaohs heart first pharaoh was a dictator and wasn't innocent and had alot of slave's next as the plagues continued on God gave increasingly severe warnings of the final judgement to come and pharaoh chose to bring further judgement on himself and his nation by hardening his own heart against God's commands. It could be a result of pharaohs hard heartedness God hardened heart even further allowing for the last few and bringing God's full glory to view pharaoh and Egypt had brought these plauges upon themselves with 400 years of slavery and mass murder since the wages of sin is death and pharaoh and Egypt sinned horribly sinned against God it would have been just if God had just annihilated Egypt therefore God hardening pharaohs heart was not unjust and bringing additional plauges against Egypt was not unjust the plauges as terrible as they were actually demonstrate God's mercy in not completely destroying Egypt and from a human perspective it seems wrong for God to harden a person then punish the person he hardend but speaking from a biblical perspective we all sinned against God and the penilty for sin is death and therefore God hardening a person and punishing a person is not unjust it is actually it is actually merciful then what the person deserves and read the comment below mine it is the finish
