Jeremy Corbyn says UK should 'stop sending arms to Ukraine'

  • Jeremy Corbyn has criticised the UK and the West for supplying Ukraine with weapons, saying it will only “prolong and exaggerate” the war.
The former Labour leader said sending weapons to Ukraine will not bring about an end to the conflict and “much more effort” must be put into securing a peace deal.
Our panel discuss whether they agree with Corbyn’s comments or not.

    • @Jamie-Z

It is called propaganda. The real problem is that we believe that we do not have it and Russians also believe they no longer have it. We are told that this war that started in 2014 has only just started this year. We are told that there is no reason for Putin to take action against groups like Azov Battalion, Right Sector and Svobda's military wing who are openly Nazis committed to murdering the ethnic Russians in Ukraine who kept getting pro Russian governments elected. We are being heavily lied to. Ukraine agreed to give Donbass the option of independence and Putin would have left Ukraine alone it they had kept to that agreement. Instead Right Sector burnt to death an entire pro Russian political party in Odessa. Putin is not a nice guy but he not any worse than Voldomor.

@@jamess4947 Far worse is the children being killed by our weapons. Do you really think it is somehow different when a child is killed by a western weapon than when a child is killed by a Russian weapon? Ukraine signed the Minsk agreement and wanted peace but the west wanted war and Ukraine did not comply with the Minsk agreement. Putin is not a great guy but anyone old enough to read can see that in this situation he is not the cause. Or are you saying he should have just let the people of Donbass die? I can only assume that you did happily hand over your dinner money.

Corbyn should concentrate on the Londongrade Laundromat and BOJO the Oligarch's Russkie funders. A battery of four guns typically deployed for the anti-aircraft role in a square formation connected by cables to a fire-control unit (Kommandogerät 40) in the centre. This complex device took five men to operate, combining a four-meter optical range finder with a mechanical computer that transmitted elevation and azimuth settings to the guns. - 1942 - 1945 Now Today - PzH2000 are quite frightening machines. One of them can shoot 5 shells in rapid succession in such a way they all hit at the same time on a 10m² target 10 km away. And over 20 are being sent there. Almost all countries were sending 155mm howitzers. The Dutch have supplied the self propelled armoured version (pzh 2000's) which have really advanced targeting and guidance electronics inside; the French send many Caesars (a 155mm rapid fire howitzer mounted on a truck); and the USA send old mothballed towed 155mm howitzers. Oddly enough; the Dutch initially send the most advanced guns; the French have huge stashes of AP and HE ammunition all NATO compatible. With such long range artillery Ukraine forces can command much larger areas of territory. The wests SAT & other intel provides up to date targeting on Russian positions, unit movements and air units entering the theatre. Now US HIMAR and German and Norwegian Self propelled rocket artillery arrive in numbers destroying all Russian ground assets within range - this means that targeting is now greatly improved and kill ratios are as a result higher, Russian ground units can be isolated without having to be physically surrounded or exposed directly to Ukrainian ground units and ensures that Russian movement into new areas is only achievable at a prohibitively high cost. Russia has lost air superiority their ground forces are in retreat. After a15 year proxy war in East Ukraine where 30,000 civilians died and the Crimea annexed anyone care to comment or think that the West is going to let this one go?
