yea i imagine eggman dies in the chase you get the metal sonic solo route. and they consider eggman and metal sonic's route a duo route and make it so its possible for eggman to escape like a secret exit that you need a bomb for to escape and get the solo.
In my opinion, they put Eggman solo because he is the only victim who survived. Sonic exe does not have the pleasure to destroy Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic's only role is to protect Eggman. Sonic exe really just wants to destroy metal Sonic because him is the best robot eggman had and to (if he gets destroyed) help with Sonic's career to get more souls.

The main issue I have with metal sonic in this game is the fact that his motive to destroy sonic is completely gone, even if eggman died metal would still try to kill sonic, he even betrayed eggman to do it in sonic heroes.
I never thought that Metal Sonic would play tremendous roles in this game along with Eggman, I would consider him to be the best character of all. He sacrificed himself, fought despite having a hard time and always stood up to defend Eggman, no matter what the cost. Simply the best version of Sonic that could have been created.
I am currently watching all videos in order and i have to say, this is the best campaign of them all so far; Metal Sonic is a total badass, i love the Sonic CD style race, the Crash WOC music is appreciated and SONIC SWEARS LMAOOO

28:22 "See you in hell" was cold asf, 28:53 and the face on eggman, looks like he felt some remorse for leaving metal behind, metal is truly the main character in this game, also 32:20 Metal sonic being left in a dimension for eternity, is kinda sad.
Eggman has so many robots of his favorite child (metal sonic) that he experiences FNAF And the way metal looks at them is like saying "ah yes my siblings"
This was the one time I actually felt bad seeing Metal Sonic being taken out. Like sure, it was his programming to protect Eggman, but the fact he is able to go toe to toe with both Sonic.EXE, Tails.EXE and Knuckles.EXE, blocking each one of their strikes until he got surrounded, this time the loss kinda hurt.
It would be cool if metal got his own ending but it makes sense he didn’t it’s very clearly implied that without eggman changing his mechanisms he can’t act independently
How cool would it have been if there was actually a final boss fight in the metal Sonic wins the race but Eggman dies where Metal Sonic gets jumped by Tails.exe, Knuckles.exe, and the phantom Sonic.exe, it would've been way better than just, "Tails, destroy him" in my opinion.
Late reply here but i could get why. Eggman is smart. Leave him be and he'll be able to create something that could really get in Exe's way. I mean, you see how Metal fares in this outcome. it took Exe ganging up on Metal just to take him out, so imagine if Eggman was left alone to build a machine even stronger. Especially with the power of the Phantom Ruby if the secret cutscene has anything to say on whether its still around...or maybe even the Master Emerald if Eggman manages to get his hands on it. He's a genius after all. He may lose to Sonic but he can even get in Sonic's way...and Exe isn't Sonic. Not killing Eggman could be one of Exe's greatest mistakes.
