I honestly can't believe it. This playing is so good I was moved from the very beginning. I have had a long journey with the tuba oftentimes loving it but also feeling like I've never heard someone who could truly show what the instrument is capable of or that maybe it just wasn't capable of much. From the very first note, this was the sound that my ear had been searching for for years and it almost immediately brought me to tears. I think I had some sort of built-up resentment toward the instrument that I love so much and this melted it all away. What amazing playing I will be striving to sound like this one day.
Thank God for Bobo. So much pleasure from this incredible master musician! Very very god and excellent interpretation. Perfect sond for every place. So much joy and colourful music experience. I love it so much. I have not to worry or be afraid of technical problems. All perfect. Pianist play so god together to. It's so surprising. Elegant.
Unbelievable, every time I hear this. I has the original album on cassette and CD, and now I can get it here on TH-cam and on Apple Music. Such a brave new world! Thanks, Maestro Bobo!
I have always loved this recording as this album was my inspiration to play tuba. I just loved seeing the slide show of Roger's life and career. I am truly blessed to have been a part of it as one of Roger's students 40 years ago. What an incredible opportunity and experience.
Remember this album well, my first solo tuba album, from Rose Re cords in Chicago. Played the Galliard on my Senior Recital. Heard Bobo do the Kraft Encounters live at the TUBA in 1975.
Thank you for taking me back to when I first switched to the tuba. I was self-taught for years, and this album was my main reference for how to play the tuba like a musician rather than like a tuba player. I first heard this album in 1980. I have owned a copy of it in one form or another ever since. Bravo, maestro.
This is really a stellar example of tuba playing, and a testament to the usefulness of instruments which are quite bright and "euphonium-like". I feel like most tuba players these days are allergic to this sort of instrument, since it so different from the contrabasses and huge B&S F instruments that they know.
A wonderful tuba playing and teaching life, bravo and thanks, you're a great model, source of inspiration for me since I have an internet acces : 22 years ago.
Love this album! One of my private lesson focuses is to listen to recordings of Roger Bobo and to try to achieve the same tone, especially in pieces such as the Hindemith Sonata. Definitely a lot to live up to as a high school sophomore!
What an inspiration.
Beautiful

A legend of Tuba . RIP Roger 😢
what kind of nonsense are you talking about? Mr. Bobo is alive! It's a pity that you will die soon or have already died
Thank God for Bobo.
