Doc goes over hose end spray bottles and the confusion of how to use them for your lawn. He explains there are two types of treatments. Foliar sprays and in ground treatments and how to avoid mixing mistakes.
I came to this same conclusion on my own. This bottle type is way better than the dial and spray. Also Chapin makes on with the same head/nozzle that works even better than the one in the video.
That's a first, spraying Prodiamine WDG with a hose end sprayer...never seen it before or seen it listed in the Instructions, only with tank sprayer.
On your video for killing weeds during winter, the one you spoke of having a window, how big does that window have to be? 2 or 3 days? Longer?
Damn doc that lawn is looking way better I remember when you started that lawn
Thanks Doc. What's your thoughts on reusable cheap hosend sprayer that you can get at hardware store. I've had not great luck with reusable feeders. In my experience with at least two different ones, I don't believe they're actually adding a tablespoon per gallon. I have to crack it up to 1oz per gallon to start taking up product (at least that's what it seems like from my point of view).
Doc, what do you do with your grass clippings?
Maybe you can put in your Description The area you live in Florida/Ca. the zone, type of grass.
I've made this mistake before, and you helped me realize it just now haha. I measured out the right amount of concentrate, but a lot of it ends up in the dirt instead of on the foliage. Got it now.
The good thing is, things like imazaquin and isoxaben are absorbed through the roots anyway, and that's what I normally spray on the lawn.
Speaking of isoxaben, how do you feel about it compared to prodiamine? What about products like Gemini that have both (Isoxaben 0.25%, Prodiamine 0.4%)?
Doc, I have the same sprayer and it has a water only spray option on it.
Yes they have them but I find it easier to use the double and don't like the STRESS put on the little plastic knob.
Cold weather sucks!!!
Doc great info as always. I have been looking for a hose nozzle, like yours, to put heavy droplets on application to push down. Where did you get yours. Thanks for all your videos.. Merry Christmas and have a safe happy new year
Listed on the website.
Great info as always.
Question, I have been looking for a hose nozzle that sprays
U Rock Doc!
Hi Doc, love your videos. I follow your Bermuda calendar religiously.
Could you please do a video on Sprinklers? There’s so many options and I can’t do a below ground system and everything seems to have “5-Star” reviews. Thank you for everything!
Doc, does pre emergent affect zoysia from spreading out??? Thanks doc
Yes, it can reduce the growth, that's why I don't recommend applying during the warm months.
Hey Doc, just started following your videos and this might be a dumb question. Would this product replace the dimension recommended on the products page for bermuda or is the dimension still the go-to for the second pre-emergent treatment early spring?
Any recommendations for getting rid of patches of fescue in my Bermuda? I've managed to eradicate most of the fescue over the last 2 seasons by cutting the Bermuda short while watering and fertilizing to get it to crowd out the fescue. Any quicker suggestions?
There are a bunch of sprays that will kill fescue and are Bermuda safe. Something like www.domyown.com/monument-75wg-herbicide-p-2718.html
Hey doc, need a little help with killing a huge nutsedge problem and what looks like some sort of thick blade fescue in my Bermuda lawn. My lawn is just over 1K sqft. I have took care all other weeds, but the sedge is giving me some trouble. Any thoughts?
Sedgehammer or original image. It must be watered in and takes 1-3 weeks to work.
Hi Doc, needing your suggestions once again. I tried spraying the Bayer product for the dollar spots which are now on the entire property. My once beautiful lawn looks like a giant leopard. I don’t know what the PH levels are but is Prophecy an option? Our temps have finally dropped to below 50 degrees but expected back in the 70s today thru Xmas. Is it safe to use this product in the winter? I’m at a loss because I don’t know what’s the best way to treat fungus in December. Thank you again so much for all you do.
You need to alternate the chemical used. It can build up a resistance and make SURE it's dollar spot. Once established I think the liquid sprays will knock it down faster.
Thanks Doc
I didn't know you could put pre-emergent out on new grass. I thought you had to wait at least a year?
Previous video we talk about the TINY window in the winter where they can be applied lightly.
