Yesterday, Today... Always ❤ Amazing 30 x 48 Triple Straight Pour with Golden Floating Cells.. WOW!

- Hello Friends! Today I am going to show you the creation of this 30x48 inch gallery wrapped gorgeous commissioned piece! I love how it came out!
My colors were:
Golden's Payne's Grey
DecoArt Americana Decor Metallics in Soft Gold
DecoArt Americana Decor Classic Black (used to darken basecoat only)
Arteza Violet
and Liquitex Basics Pthalo Blue
I really enjoy working with only a few colors and a contrast Metallic in a straight pour, because you get to see each individual color, and you can find areas where they blended beautifully. In this painting you can see the very dark Payne's Grey (which I added Classic Black to), and the pop of the Pthalo Blue.. but you also see a beautiful turquoise or teal color that came from the Soft Gold blending with the Pthalo Blue. I'm in love with the Violet blended with the gold 🥰 So beautiful!
I did three straight pours onto my canvas and then used two more cups of Payne's Grey darkened with Black to put a thick circle of paint around my pours to act as a flow extender.
This painting is very special to me, a very nice gentleman commissioned this piece as a wedding anniversary gift for his beautiful wife. The three pours represent their past, their now, and their always..
Happy Anniversary Tina! Mike loves you!! ❤
I hope you enjoy the video, this piece might be my favorite thing I've ever painted 🥰 I love the rivers of blended colors and the golden cells floating in line..
Thank you for watching, and I just want to say thank you so much for all your lovely comments and support! You guys are amazing!! I love when you try my pours, some of them are so beautiful!!
If you would like to see more of my work you can check out Mina Villegas Art and contact me on Facebook

If you have any questions you can ask me in the comments, I try to answer them every day.
Please keep in mind that my husband and I are making these videos, and it's very much a learning process. We have made adjustments to microphone placement and added another camera to be able to give you the pretty close up shots of the pour..but we are very much a work in progress. If the sound changes it because there was a loud rumble of an airplane or strong wind and we tried to dull that down. We try to speed up any slow parts to not waste your time, and list all my colors and pouring medium for you, as well as measurements. If you have any suggestions or constructive criticism I am happy to hear it! Please be kind lol, we are doing this for my love of painting and to be able to help others.. and to share some really cool art! I'm not sponsored by anyone, and I don't get things for free lol... oh and
THERE IS NO SILICONE IN MY PAINT
🤭 I hope you all have an amazing day!! I'll see you for the next one 😉
Love and light to you all..

I'm speechless! Well, I can think of only one word, Amazinglystunningandperfectlygorgeous!! 😍☺️
You are so sweet, thank you 🥰 GidgetnSweetpea! I love your name lol how cute!!
Mina Villegas Art Gidget and Sweetpea are my two Maltese girls. They both passed away only 9 days apart. I think Gidget passed away from a broken heart 💔 after we lost Sweetpea. Some people don’t understand how much we love our furry little friends. I’m reminded of how much I miss them every time I log in. It makes me smile from all the great memories of them. I’m sorry, I don’t know why I felt so compelled to tell you such a sad story but I’m really ok with it now. Time teaches us how to cope. I do want to tell you though that your laugh is infectious and I can tell that you’re a kind, gracious and talented woman! I’m going to go and watch a few more of your videos and hope that I can learn something from you! Have a wonderful day!😊
My goodness Mina you certainly like a big pour, I love it once again, beautiful (love your laughter too). That looks incredible... John C...

👋 Mina and your darling husband of awesomeness 🙂.
.My husband thinks pouring outside is brilliant idea but I love my multi coloured garage floor 😂. Oh my this is stunning. Loving the deep lake. Beautiful sentiment. Karen NZ
Hi Karen! Thank you so much! I could pour inside, I just really like being outside lol I love the sun and wind and birds (and even the damn jackhammers lol) and I like figuring out solutions to the challenges the wind and sun present.. we are having a lot of fun experimenting! All of you have been so supportive, honestly I'm blown away .. and very inspired too! Thank you and your husband for watching, and your sweet comment 🥰 try it outside lol, it's kind of crazy at first but the wind is fun 🤭
Breath taking! :D
Thank you 🥰
Lovely. I could listen to you laugh while you pour all day long! The end results are fabulous.
Amazing Mina !! It’s so amazing to watch you do big canvases. Just lovely ❤️

Hello again from Australia Mina. You know what this looks like? It looks like the images from the Hubble Telescope, which are beyond beautiful, images of the Universe in all its wonder. I love the fact you did this outside, not confined to a building. It certainly is a wonderful gift and I am certain Tina will be thrilled with it. I love this the most because of the violet, since a child I have loved purple. Have a grand day and hugs from down under.
Hello Dear Deborah! I love the Hubble images, they are amazing! Thank you for the lovely compliment 🥰 I'm so glad that you like it! Sending a big hug back to you ❤
Did you see the Auroras that the Hubble captured on Jupiter? Amazing!

No Mina I did not, so I shall look at the link you sent me. I had no idea you could send a link on TH-cam, you learn something every day. I look forward to seeing more of your work, especially if it outside the house, which is so very cool to watch...biggest hugs from Mount Tamborine Queensland Australia, Google it, it is a rainforest and very pretty, you might get some colour inspiration from looking....hugs.@@MinaVillegasArt
PS: Just had a look at Jupiter, seems like you were already there, because I see a fluid pour in three parts, you certainly get around and your hubby even took photo's.lol@@MinaVillegasArt
Wow that is so pretty!!
What a beautiful painting! That looks like a *lot of work! Good on ya!
You would know 😁 my darling Husband of Awesomeness, thank you for all your help.. you are the best! 🥰
I love working with large canvases too. Your paintings are totally spectacular!🤗💖
You're so sweet, thank you Nana! 🥰
Another GIANT success on a GIANT canvas! :) Love watching it. I'm totally amazed by the turquoise that showed up in there...so lovely and surprising! . beautiful! I love the Anniversary wishes on it, really special. :)
Thank you Heather! This one was really fun, I was so excited to pour it, it was great that it 'worked'.. I'm so excited to see what the lucky wife's reaction is going to be when he gives it to her 🥰
That looks amazing. You are a great artist and teacher. Love your pieces.
Thank you so much Dorothy! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
These days I love abstract way more than fine art...
I can’t get enough! You are by far my favorite pour artist I watch! I’ve been wanting to get into this myself and you are so inspiring, there is something so special about your art! ✨✨✨
Super..
👍🏻👍🏻🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Beautiful love ❤️
Thank you Angie! 🥰
Wow amazingly beautiful! Love watching your videos!
Thank you!🥰
Love the colors. A friend made me a 30" x 30" turntable. I use it to turn my paintings so I don't have to continuously walk around my table to turn my piece. I have never done a painting as large as this one of yours - must try one.
Newbie Sub.... I absolutely love this piece 💖💯...my fav colors! Totally digging you Mina🤗
Thank you so much and Welcome Christine! ❤ I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
WOW!!!!! I have got to try your mix!!! Absolutely love this piece Mina!!!!! ❤️👍❤️
Thank you so much Joan! 🥰 im so glad you enjoyed it!!
beautiful Mina!
Thank you Stephanie!!🥰
Big, Beautiful, and INSPIRING! It turned out beautiful! I love how you have multiple camera shots going at the same time! Gives a really great feel to your videos
Thank you Jenny! That's my husband lol because I would say get a close up of the pour part and he got tired of changing directions midstream lol.. his solution was more cameras Haha mostly old phones but they work! It does look really neat tho, and we are refining it and streamlining it I hope lol it was a bit complicated to decipher until they were all synched 😁
Beautiful
Thank you Katie! 🥰
I love this.Wonderhow it would do if you used silver rather than gold..
Inspiring work and great instructions, too. You are a gifted artist! Obviously you don’t live in Oklahoma where the wind would add all sorts of extra elements into the paint!
Hi Pat! Thank you so much! We are in Southern California.. I was noticing the other day that it is very clean wind, you're right! She mostly just ruffles my paper and my hair and my paint lol but I did get upset once. There is wisteria growing here, and I watched all the buds and then they finally bloomed! It was gorgeous! Then three hours later the wind came a whoopin and blew off every last bloom.. I was very upset lol obviously not the right location for that plant!
Hey there girlfriend! That was lovely to watch! You are so creative and I learnt a new word? Splooging! Hahhaa! Keep up the fantastic work! Gabe xx
Hi Gabe! 😂 I was waiting for that lol
But it was true, they just wouldn't stop oozing and spreading. Splooooging . See. Pouring medium is a good thing lol 😉
Hahaha! Mina, I'm trying to use the word sploooging in my daily life? Maybe splurging! hahaha! Went and bought more bird seed for my million parrots! When you coming over to paint my parrots? @@MinaVillegasArt
@@brendanlees197 where are you? And what color do you want me to paint them? 😂😂😂 a parrot pour could be fun! What colors are they mainly?
Well the Rainbow Parrots are all colours and the Galah's are pink and grey! I"m in Oz! hahaha!@@MinaVillegasArt
Love this! Ths is for all of the great instruction and advice. Interesting how your name is a combo of theirs Mike+Tina...Mina! :)
Haha! You're right, that's funny!😁 I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos 🥰
Another beautiful piece! You have a new subscriber.
Thank you so much! 🥰 welcome!
That is so damn pretty 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you Linda! I love how it came out too 🥰
Hello Mina!
May I ask you how do you varnish such huge paintings?
This painting is gorgeous!!! 👏🏼👍🏼👌🏼😍
Beautiful it looks like two pieces of Crystal two geo's
Thanks Debbie! I loved this piece, it was so much fun to do ❤
Another exceptional piece! Thank you for sharing your work with the world. Where do you get your large canvases at?
Thanks so much! I hit up Michaels 70% off sale whenever possible 😁 I get the cradleboard wood panels from Blick Art Supply. Both of those places are having a nice sale right now, just fyi! 😉
Wow❤❤ beautiful go big or go home LOL
Do you add the Liquitex Gloss Varnish to all your paints? Do you need to Polycrylic afterwards? Thank you, Mina... you are a wonderful teacher!
Hi Laurie! Yes, I mix my paints with the Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish. It dries beautifully with a nice luster. I don't feel the need to add additional varnish. If I'm working on a big canvas and I want more shine I can use an Archival UV Resistant Spray Gloss, Krylon has a good one. You could use Polycrylic if you want to, but with the LGM&V, you don't need to. Personal preference 😊
Mina Villegas Art Thank you for your guidance.
Mina if you live in the US you can order 30x40 Gallery Wrapped canvases in a quantity of 3 for a really good price and free shipping from Dick Blick online !!! They are good quality too! I know, crazy! Now some of the smaller sizes incur shipping charges, but check that out and take advantage of it. You get great prices there for the splined gallery wrapped canvases in quantities of 3 or 6. I haven't ordered for a few months, so hopefully, they are still doing it on the big ones. THIS IS GORGEOUS!!! Awesome results!! Thanks for posting....... :)
Hi Mina, I’m new to your channel. I especially love watching from birds eye view, it helps me to see your flow logic as you explain. Thanks for sharing. I’m wondering what you are calling your “flow extender”? Or is it just the Payne’s grey and black that you thinned more in lieu of a base pour?? Oh my...a scale.
Hi Monica! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos! Yes, my 'flow extender' is just my thinned out Payne's. If I pour it on as a basecoat then the sun and wind start to dry the edges before even pour my cup. So I took out the possibility of it drying by pouring it around my pour to still give the paint something to glide one, and to not lose my center pour design.
Scales are not scary lol you can do it 😉 I hope I answered your question
❤️❤️❤️❤️
As always so gorgeous
But, I have to ask. Where in the world are you that is so windy?
😁 I'm in Thousand Oaks, California.. on top of a mountain lol we get a lot of breezes 🌬
Looks great!!! You had a very good attitude while you were pouring and lifting the canvas up and down to spread the flow of those beautiful colors. How many miles did you walk while running around your pour? ;o) Love the way you got rid of that solid blue lake. :O)
😁 thank you so much! That part of the video is so funny when its sped up 6x.. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
Another fabulous one! How do you calculate the amount of paint Mina? I am asking everybody, for me seems that I have way too much or not enough.....
That's one of the hardest parts! There is a chart that tells you how much you need, but I always make up extra paint. And I'm terrible when I'm filling my pour cup, I always want to add more if I have paint lol. It's very tricky to get it right. The best thing I can tell you is get comfortable with one size and experiment until you figure out how much you need for that size, and then use that when figuring out for other sizes. I love the little 5 ounce Dixie Cups, I use those all the time for 12x12 canvas. If you are still learning, I think it's better to have too much paint rather than not enough. I'll see if I can send you the chart 😉
Mina, thank you. I have the chart, I use the smartartmaterials calculator sometimes, Julie Cuts chart have more than double the amount of paint and other artist’s have different quantities also. So confusing 🙂
💜
Do you varnish this or leave it as with the gloss medium you used? How much gloss medium?
I may put a coat or two of Golden's Gloss Archival Varnish spray on it just as insurance but I really dont think it needs it. That medium dries beautifully with a gorgeous sheen, it almost feels like plastic on top.
I think I used 120 g of gloss medium per color, 60 g of paint and about 10 or 15 g of water. Once that was combined I added 200 g of Floetrol
❤️
Was this 2cup pour three puddles for a total of 6 cups?
I think I had 20 ounces in each of the pours.. so 60 ounces there. I did also use two big cups of Payne's Grey as a flow extender too. Those were 16 ounces each. 60 +32= 92 ounces total
How do you protect your finished piece?
Hi Janice! This piece has Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish as my pouring medium. It dries beautifully, with a lustrous sheen. I will probably put a few coats of Golden's Gloss Archival Varnish on in a few more weeks. I cleaned off my pouring table this afternoon, changing the garbage bags, and pulled a piece of the dried paint drip up.. it's very thick and tough, like very pliable plastic. This paint had been baking in hot sun for three days, and was still beautiful and shiny lol hopefully our art won't be in conditions like that but it seems pretty tough, and once its really cured it's very tough. I dont really think you would need much more than the pouring medium and varnish, but the spray varnish on top is fairly easy and little chance of cracking, just as insurance.
