Amazing how this guitar is almost 100 years old. It's so beautiful, I could only imagine what it has seen through out the years. I dare say that should belong in a museum.

    "This pre-dates the truss rod"...
This also pre-dates the Nazi Party, this is older than John Paul II and Charles Bukowski.
When the Dave Brubeck Quartet was formed (1951), this guitar was already 30 years old!
    This is really old, man!

The Style O is the ancient Tyrannosaurus Rex of Gibson Guitars. Every one is a unique, hand-carved work of Art. Every one a monster of soul. Powerful love for my current '19. Come down the years I've enjoyed 5 of these including a basket case I had converted to a single pickup solid body in 1991. For my money the 1919 is the best year. Wonderful American instruments.

F'n awesome. So original in design. One thing I do when evaluating an acoustic guitar is to hold the guitar by the neck and tap the bridge. That is a telling sign as to how the guitar is going to resonate and respond to play.

A few years ago, I saw one on sale on the PriceMinister site. This one was from 1911, which means during Orville Gibson lifetime (he died in 1918)… As long as he lived his portrait was featured on the white label inside. It was sold for 17 000 € (about 20.000 $).

That would be a great guitar for Gibson to recreate. Imagine this with a good undersaddle transducer with controls hidden in the sound hole. I think a reissue of this would sell pretty well.

Awesome slide playing and blues demo- on a different note:\- so may we hear the ' Other Side; of this guitar's sonic spectrum? -- let's try some arpeggios and a traditional Christmas melody - thanks- you got the magic! ...as I searched TH-cam- I found another demo from another a pro guitarist- who demos the 1919 Style O- but TH-cam won't let me post the link here ...that's how I know these have a mellifluous flowing tonal spectrum and you barely got beneath the surface- and I'm a fan of your music so I know you have awesome classical passion

One of the inflation calculators I use says $150 in 1919 is about $2,113.88 now. So that's not unreasonable for a good guitar.

I think the Mississippi Sheiks have seniority, even over Skip James. It's Sittin' On Top of the World, first recorded in 1930.
By the way, You Gotta Move isn't by the Stones. It was recorded by the Two Gospel Keys in the '40s and has been covered by artists like Rosetta Tharpe and Mississippi Fred McDowell well before the Stones version.

James whoa. Skip James , miss.shieks. Those are some old!!! Names. I'm not arguing your right and I think you may be, but I do have recordings from I believe 1932 from Skip . He was one of those cats that was " rediscovered" in the 60's folk boom.. But Sam Chatmon of the sheiks was a half brother or cuz to Charlie Patton who was def ahead of em all. Thank god for TH-cam. Remember the days when the hunt was on in obscure used record shops and antique stores for some of those greats. I try explaining to my boys the dare I say magic u felt goin into a record store.... I sure miss those simple times. You take care friend🎸
