Dont you think the decision to accept dominion status post independence had played major role in keeping India away from Sri Lanka? Post ‘Independence’ in 1948 Sri Lanka’ defence led by UK’ white leaders, Sri Lanka had military bases till 1957. Only in 1971 Sri Lanka became a Republic.
