I think Up is R.E.M.'s most underrated and best album. I wish Michael would sing in falsetto more. On the album version, when he sings "You're so naked baby" in falsetto it sounds great.
when i first heard "up", i thought it was o.k., and actually thought that it sounded uninspired. however, after listening to it more i realized it was an melancholy masterpiece. i love the album. i think its one of their best. its so understated and sadly underrated.
Agreed. No one like R.E.M. to have so much success while simultaneously being overlooked.. Michael kills this song and everyone in the Band is a Genius. 'Up' is just as brilliant as the rest of their albums
why is this song not in the top 10 of REM???? Its slow, but comes from my favorite REM album and is a classic. I wish they would play it in the shows and it deserves more recognition. UP is severly underrated and they should be proud of it, its better than the patchy OUT OF TIME and is the essence of what they are all about
COINCIDO EN QUE ES UNA JOYA ESTE ÁLBUM Y QUE ES GENIAL. ( solo que a mi si me gusta Out of time, pero no importa ya que el Up si esta muy infravalorado)
completely underrated. i could listen over and over. it would have been huge but they don't really care about gettin on Mtv. if ya could call it that. sixteenandpregnantt.v.. saptv
UP is such an odd little nugget. The culmination of reeling in horror from the departure of Bill Berry... and then trying to make a new record with a "Pet Sounds" kind of feel. Suspicion is a fantastic song.. One of my favorites of the Warner Bros. Years.
In a way, Suspicion seems like a link to Bill Berry's previous contributions with R.E.M. It bears some resemblance to Tongue from their Monster album in its dreamy , sexy way. Yet again it's a disappointment that it isn't more well known. I suppose that many people don't like to be slowly seduced- they probably find it insidious. This is still a fantastic track - a brilliant and lengthy tease with a magical pay off at the end of strings where a New Test Leper kind of instrumentation emerges.
Creo lo mismo que tú. En lo personal a mí sí me gusta eso que dices. Un ejemplo de más canciones que lo hacen son: How the west was won and were it got us y (obvio) Star me kitten.
Nadie me lo pidió pero comento mis canciones favoritas de este increíble álbum. ( Sin orden ) Suspicion Lotus The apologist You're in the air At my most beatiful.
@simmy403 up is so wonderful.listen on the beach somewhere.i had to respond cause "you're so naked baby" might be the one best lyrics they have ever done for some reason
@robpen954 right there with ya. funny, r.e.m. and the mats were my top 2 growing up too. we used to have a saying. PWIG: paul westerberg is God. Buck on Let It Be and a tour together. I would have loved to seen THAT!
I don't have this version... weird. I mean, I downloaded the album Up (because, fuck, I can't find it anywhere) but the rhythm is not the same of this one.
I think "At My Most Beautiful" is a little bit obvious and shallow. Something that a 6th grader would write - but maybe that's part of its charm. I always liked "UP" and kind of compared it to U2's "Zooropa". It sucks that REM doesn't seem proud of this album - it's a fine album. Suspicioun is my favorite song off the album but this version isn't as pretty as the album cut.
La letra de "At my most beatiful" tiene esas características a propósito. Stipe mencionó que quería crear la canción más cursi de toda su carrera y lo logró.
2024 still listening to REM.
Adoro questo pezzo ascoltarlo di notte in macchina, brividi indescrivibili Rem fantastici

I too think 'UP' rules. A very underrated album. Beautiful.
I agree. Up is one of their most underrated albums. Great album to listen to while chilling with a few glasses of wine.
Definitely one of my R.E.M. favourites. Not only brilliant lyrics, as ever, but it has a really unusual musical arrangement. Haunting.
I can't wait until 2020 when Up and Reveal are recognised as 2 of the greatest albums of all time.
Well it's 2019 and the German version of Rolling Stone have ranked Reveal in the top 500 records of all time. No such love for Up. Yet.
@@fredh1720it's coming very soon #UP25
One of R.E.M.'s best middle 8's
A brilliantly understated song from the best album they've ever made. Very well shot and extremely well mixed for TV. A gem!
"I need nothing too deep..."
This song is deep..!
Mike Mills sings the most beautiful harmony vocals....unmistakable!
god Michael is a beautiful man ! He could sing me to sleep and night of the week ! Thax for the memories mike Peter bill & Michael !
Beautiful song by a beautiful band
Just for this version of this particular song you deserve a subscription 👍👍🙂🙂
REM...sad to hear you're calling it a day. You were wonderful. This is a top track. REM were masters at setting the mood!
is this song sooo beautiful, or is it just a nostalgic feeling that stuck my head in this melody? dreaam, dreaaaam!

Whoever directed this video....
did a really beautiful job. :)
Wow I'm a huge REM fan and I haven't heard this song before. I'm shocked it's not popular as I think it's a great song.
this is song is amazing live, and the live video is brilliant!!!
IMMENSI, ASSOLUTI, MERAVIGLIOSAMENTEUNICI.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
completely underrated. i could listen over and over. it would have been huge but they don't really care about gettin on Mtv. if ya could call it that. sixteenandpregnantt.v.. saptv
R.E.M.'s music carries me away. Thanks for posting.
My fav band of all time!! This one is in top10 REM songs
this is even better than the album version (especially the vocal performance)
I love it! I had never even heard of this video before tonight. One of my favorite R.E.M. songs. Thank you.
I love REM. The first band I loved and though there've been others since none have come close.
Totalmente......ni una le llega a los talones en genialidad
This is one of the sexiest songs ever.
Siii 😏
Shame this song never charted. Definitely one of my favourite tracks-that-never-got-the-recognition-it-deserved.
R.E.M. you are the best, thank you.
A fantastic song that really sums up this album for me. Paranoid and opressive. Great stuff.
i think its more electronic and ambient than psychadelic, but totally agree with you that its their best album.
My favorite song from this cd.
i love love love this song-from my favourite rem album!

Suspicion is a fantastic song.. One of my favorites of the Warner Bros. Years.
Up wasn't their finest effort, but it was a solid album, and I absolutely adore this song.
Para mi es uno de los mejores.
"Up" is their best album!

You're in the air
At my most beatiful.
I love the effect Pete uses on the solo, anybody knows if it actually is Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe?? He also uses the same on the Lotus chorus.

Never fear. He's just radiant.
Superb

@simmy403 up is so wonderful.listen on the beach somewhere.i had to respond cause "you're so naked baby" might be the one best lyrics they have ever done for some reason
excelente
Yes, that's Ken Stringfellow, though I only know him from his involvement with REM. Maybe he wasn't involved in the studio recordings.
Is that Ken Stringfellow on the Vibraphone? It doesn't say anywhere in the album credits that he was involved with this album :/

please don't speak, make me think, its all too deep!
There are a few great, beautiful moments on that album, but it's hardly their best...
I think "At My Most Beautiful" is a little bit obvious and shallow. Something that a 6th grader would write - but maybe that's part of its charm.

R.E.M - Suspicion
I thought it kinda looked like him, before he dyed his hair red in 2001.
What a great great great mistake don't choose Walk Unafraid like a single of Up...

questa canzone è per annalisa!!!!!!
"At My most Beautiful," to me, was more a lover's song...not a consideration for a sixth grader.
