Why Oldfield isn't listed in top 50 guitarists of all time is criminal. The guy makes intricate runs look effortless. Why an artist like Prince became a household name and Oldfield did not is rather bizarre . . .
Wow, this is fantastic. I always enjoyed the Montreux DVD but it’s been a while since I’ve watched it. Would have loved to be around to catch this tour. And the passion in Mike’s vocoder singing during Sheba is amazing. Such a tight band all round.
Such a pity they mixed down Mike's guitar that painful. In the first minute of Taurus I solo you hear absolutely nothing and for the surprising and awesome Tubular Bells II solo you need to focus your ears to hear it properly. Even a "Remastered" can't fix that. I would fire such an unable technician immediately! And no, it's not the uploader! I know this since watching the original broadcast in German TV back in January 1981.

Dann in 1980 diese Tournee in Aufwand, aber mit sehr geschmälter Combo. War wohl zu teuer, die 79'-Tour. Tat dem 🎶 Genuss dann aber dann doch nicht weh. Damals war ich 15... möchte nicht schreiben wie alt der Bremer Fan nun ist. Egal. Aber seine Innocents-Anita H. hätte er nicht verlassen sollen. Der Meister. Wann kommt Ommadawn 3.0? Auf jeden Fall ein Danke an den Maximal-Chefe hier fürs pausenlose Hochladen der Musik besserer Zeiten!
@@birgitpesch9094 gut, mag auch sein das Roy's kleine Anita da zu sehr an ein Stacheltier dachte... egal. Schön war die Zeit auch mit ihren "Pictures in the dark", nicht wahr...
QE2 is a not a great (or even good) MO album overall but you can’t argue with the solo he delivers here right at the start of Taurus 1. (OK, the guy at the mixing desk in Dortmund messed up badly, but it’s still audible.) If only the tinny QE2 studio version had even half this energy and verve…

Amazing artist, some of his best works in this wonderful live piece... no Ableton Live, no sequencers, pure mind and body talent.
