I’m always glad to see your take on Roxy’s Weekly Challenge. I’m intrigued by the look of the color swatches but haven’t wanted to mix paint to achieve the look.

Thanks for the shout out, it brightened my day as it’s been a rough week. So glad you did Rachel’s challenge. I thoroughly enjoy seeing someone out of their comfort zone as it inspires me to step out of mine more often. It shows me how to persevere to the end, and as with anything you improve as you go. I’d have to back and watch but I think Rachel just uses little bits to add to already decorated ephemera. I really liked everything you made today. I know you are having a blast at your retreat. Great and creative work, as always Gayle. I found this weeks MM to be a tough one. Of course, once I had everything glued down I had some great ideas for I "could have" done! I really like the swatch challenge. Yours turned out really nice. I haven't been over to Rachel's yet, so I'll do that next. Thanks for sharing and happy retreating. ❤

I had just typed a comment about outlining them in black, and before I finished, you did. :) I think it makes them look a lot more finished, and lifts them a little with it.

I'm so pleased you started liking your decorated pieces; it can take a bit to get into something different. For the record, I loved all your pieces, especially the Wish mushroom. I personally prefer to add painty swatches to compositions rather than starting with it as a dominant element. Enjoy your retreat ! You are right, we will survive if you don’t have a video for everyday while you’re gone. I enjoy my dose of Gayle every morning but some days I need a little more so I go to your vast list of previous videos. We could certainly do this is you don’t get enough made before you leave.
**Maybe if you doodled on the watercolor circles & squares it would make you more comfortable 🤷♀️

Everything turned out pretty. I know you kept thinking that you were out of your comfort zone but you did fine! One thing I have seen in you is that you have an eye for placement and to make it cohesive no matter if it’s not in your comfort zone. I think you could do any theme and it would turn out great because of that. That is an artist eye as far as I am concerned. So don’t think you can’t do this theme because it’s not what you do. I know you can😊❤️. Because I have watched you do it for years🥰
We would miss you if you weren't here every day... but, we would totally understand!! Don't stress!
I understand about certain lights giving you a migraine. My doctor said a flickering light will trigger a migraine & many store have lights that blink, flicker or dim occasionally.
Maybe cheesecloth or material to give dimension and texture behind the swatches.
Put the Fall card on a bigger card that paper has some of the color of the swatch colors using scrapbook paper. Might work.

Most grocery stores offer a shop online/pick up service these days … you never have to step foot in the store. You might want to consider that option for the retreat? Warning … once you find out how convenient it is you are likely to never want to shop any other way. Happy Retreat crafting Gayle.
You do get spoiled, last summer my knee was so messed up I could hardly walk so there was no way I was going to the grocery store so I started ordering online and picking up from Walmart, totally spoiled only very recently since I’ve been a lot better I have I’ve been going into the store and believe me it’s no joy in there, I’ve never liked grocery shopping.

Maybe next time try muted colors that fit a more vintage design. I thought they looked great, but I could tell you weren't comfortable. I can't wait to give this a try.

Take a look at today's (Wed) video by Amy at Crafty Cat called Watercolor Play Time for Gnome Life Journal Part #2. At time stamp about 35 minutes she has a watercolor page that has color splotches on the side that she uses as a visual paint palate for one of her gnomes.

Awww, thank you Gayle for this one. I just want you to know that even though you didn't feel like you were in your comfort zone, your video inspired me immensely! The whole time I was cheering you on by suggesting all the artsy stuff you could use with the swatches... Lol! Like: Tim Holtz sketched stamps, your gelli print scraps, the leftover ephemera from the Stamperia kit with the artist theme. Even with your botanical decorations, I was thinking Marjolein Bastin Nature's Sketchbook or Beatrix Potter sketchbook type vibe, which I am going to try next myself.
I don't know how many times I've been stuck midway through a project wanting to use this & that, but then can't find the right element to bring it all together. And guess what? Many of those times something you used or did was what "unstuck" me. So... I guess I'm trying to say, sometimes even our "stuck & struggle" moments, can be another's "unstuck & eureka!" moment. Thank you for all your inspiration & your willingness to go for it & try new things. 💜

I would plan on ordering groceries closer to your day and having them delivered or, I would find a pizza place and order a couple pizzas and a couple salads. I have found our Marcos pizza, has amazing salads. Maybe no one wants pizza and you could just do salads and breadsticks? Make it easy.
