Some absolute incredible pieces of history right there - not just bottles but all sorts of memorabilia you’ll never see anywhere else! I hope that the owner has someone who he can entrust this collection to one day. Also your reaction to the Tory’s was hilarious haha! I had a feeling after you nosed it you weren’t going to love it. Have missed your videos, Mac. Good to see you uploading again.
So much i have traveled in Oita-Ken without having a clue there was a whisky museum there😮. I can't believe he had the original Nikka still there. Great video Mac!
Insane, Mac, thanks for sharing ! I'm jealous of the still especially, but I'm nowhere near able to have a house which could welcome it ! Kanpaï, my friend ! 👍👍👍🥃
What an amazing video to feature this whisky museum! A fun episode indeed, you can also feel the owner is like a kid at heart when it comes to talking about his collection.
This was so great to watch! So much from Nikka here. Still my fav overall whiskies are Taketsuru, Miyagikyo, and Yoichi NAS's. All versions have their own wonderful flavor and every version remains consistent. I love them! Kanpai, Kanpai Planet. Thanks for posting this!
Such an amazing person and collection! The back story on how he is able to fund all this would be interesting. And the second thought is what happens to collection when the someday hopefully very far in the future Takashima san is gone? Sort of reminds me of The David Rumsey Map Collection. He collected 150,000 maps over 35 years and finally donated to Stanford and now all the maps are on line. First step: convince Takashima san to catalog his collection!!

Ahh how did i not know about this place!? And I just spent a week in kyushu a month ago 😂😭 Ah well got to be happy i made it to Kanosuke ☺️ This place is now on my bucket list! Thanks for the video!
Great piece of history! I really appreciate the story of Nikka & Suntory. I remember all these old superb bottles at Miyagikyo & Yoichi distillery. I have some few vintage Single Cask Nikka bottles I don’t want to open because of the history 😅
Incredible video! Incredible museum so much history if I ever and I hope I will visit Japan. This is on my list. And having a bar inside with a very very rare whiskey is just a bonus because most people are never going to afford to buy a bottle but they can't at least try it. Just incredible. Thank you! Kanpai!
@@KanpaiPlanet history is a probably most important part of whiskey and not only whiskey any thing, seeing so many historical artifacts mind-blowing and have an opportunity to try it's incredible, and like you said sometimes you have to pay for journey.
And there is even a bar !!! wow, so many historical bottles there (I'm a bit afraid of OBE & worst, though, considering the low level of some, does he gas them or sample them in smaller bottles, another question). No doubt this is a place to visit...
I think you'd have no trouble visiting as a non-Japanese speaker. Some background knowledge of what you're looking at is probably more helpful, but not essential. Kanpai!
Museum was cool from a place of appreciating whisky history. I went to the bar and was charged 20,000¥ for one 30ml pour of springbank 17… premium, sure, but ungodly expensive
Thanks!
Thank YOU for supporting Kanpai Planet!
Oh some old bottle effect at the end.😀 Great vid, thank you!

Welcome back, Mac! Relocating soon to Kyushu from Honshu and excited to check out Tenryo Hita Museum. Thanks for the share and kanpai!
Tell Takashima-san that Mac sent you, and enjoy. All the best with the relocation!

That all depends on many factors. Give me some more info and I will throw some suggestions your way.
