I came to Berlin two days ago. I was really amazed with public transportation system. It;s really great.
Berlin is one of the few cities I know, where using public transport often is significantly faster than using a car.
@@lennartgroWe have in Moskow the same situation with public transpors , our underground can provide the opportunity to get the destination is twice as fast as a car 😅

When I went to Germany I found this tickets machines very complicated. Everytime I wanted to purchase a ticket it came with the 120 Euro ticked. It was an absurd. I always had to ask someone to help me. I would suggest the same system from Brisbane where you just tap the card when you board and when you leave the public transport and the system calculates the distance you have traveled and simply discount from your card. Very easy.
the problem here could be, that you can`t control either the people pay for their transport or not.

Yeah the card tap system is the same in Atlanta, even though the heavy rail system is tradh. Idk why Berlin sticks to paper
@@thesharinganknight9859 German companies aren't well-known for their digitalisation efforts, so that's probably the answer lol. The simplest answer however is probably that it's just done differently here. Paper tickets aren't the only thing you can use after all, apps are also a thing. Whether you tap a phone/card or have it checked by ticket controllers is just a matter of preference.

Also if you all are going to to germany or europe for that matter, its important to know the concept of "Entwerten" kind of literally means to devalue a ticket you just bought, in regional trains if you have a paper ticket you have to insert the tickets into a machine that punctures a hole into them, and then you get on the train but remember to keep your ticket still. (not every train station you do this most of the time an employee on the train punctures your ticket). But Fahrkarten entwerten is more common on Trams aka streetcars, and inside the street cars you place your ticket inside a ticket machine and then remember to keep your ticket still.
Ja! Richtig. When you forget to validate your ticket, you get in trouble, and it's common, more in foreigners to forget to valid the ticket. Of course, you will get a fine, and it won´t be as pleasent as you think. It may ruin your holidays, so please always validate your tickets!

Mine Frau und ich visit Germany 3 times since 2014 and we were to visit in August but thanks to carona we can not.
I have visited Germany now 4 times.
1991, 2014 2017 and 2019.
I like your easy German show very much and it is helping me understand German.
I have also studied German here for almost two years.
I am an author and am writing two books on German transport in Berlin in Hamburg.
My German is OK but when we visit I can walk into a supermarkt and speak completely German, I can understand about harf of what a German says but I am not good enough yet to speak back 100%.
I like your videos very much and also the videos from Trixie and Dana.
I did have trouble when we visited our friends in Regensburg, they speak perfect English but I found it very hard understanding German in Bavaria.

Even as a German the Berlin ticket system seems weird to me. I live in Hessen and have a student ticket. It's an electronic ticket saved on a credit sized card and I can drive anywhere in Hessen with any public transport vehicle (except long distant trains like IC and ICE) in/around Hessen. It costs 1€ a day or 365€ a year.

In Berlin ist In manchen Hotels im Zimmerpreis auch ein Ticket für alle öffentlichen Transporte dabei. Nicht doppelt zahlen.

In Bussen dürfen Fahrräder grundsätzlich nicht mitgenommen werden. Er war also nicht unfreundlich, sondern hat seine Ausbildung genossen.

Cari I love your videos. I have couple ideas to a new video. It could be with a fun vocabulary: In a circus for example with Clowns and etc.. Another idea is to record in a meditation or Yoga class in order to learn a "spiritual vocabulary". Finally, it'd be nice to have a video in a farmer's market. It'd be great for know new vocabulary about Obst und Gemüse.

In Münster benutzen wir oft Fahrräder und Busse. Es ist immer leichter sich zu bewegen wenn du in einer kleinen Stadt bist. LG Cari :)
Aber in Münster zum Beispiel kann man sich ohne Fahrrad echt schlecht bewegen 😂 Das merke ich immer wieder, wenn ich in der Stadt bin. Mit dem Bus hat man nicht so viele Möglichkeiten leider...
Das stimmt völlig 😂 Ich war bis jetzt nur im Raum von NRW aber hab bemerkt durch diese paar Monate, dass Münsteraner ein bisschen "Düstere Menschen" sind :p. ich weiß nicht ob das individuell abhängig oder nicht aber Leute in Köln schien n bisschen Fröhlicher. Als Verkehrsforscher in Amerika, finde ich dieses Video toll. Öffentlicher Nahverkehr kann für Anfänger beängstigend sein (besonders wie man Fahrscheine kauft und was für einen Fahrschein man braucht). Wenn dieses Easy German Ding nicht klappt, habt ihr eine Stelle beim BVG! haha. Just kidding. Tolles Video!
Ich vermisse meine Zeit in Berlin.
ich war geschäftlich unterwegs in Düsseldorf.Da gibt es auch Straßenbahn.einmal hab ich was nettes erlebt. ich Und einen von meinem Kollegen waren auf der Rückweg zum Hotel. es war nicht zu spät circa 22.00Uhr. Leider konnten wir die Tickets durch Automaten nicht stampen Lassen obwohl wir sie gekauft haben . Und da kam der Ticketprüfer und hat uns nach Tickets gefragt. er wollte uns eigentlich strafen aber nach viele Erklärungen hat er uns vergeben. 😀wir haben uns bei ihm auch entschuldigt. Diese Erfahrung als Ausländer bleibt immer noch in meiner Erinnerung.

What is the difference between the two verbs "erreichen" und "nehmen". Which verb do I use when I say that I am catching transport? :D
I've found out that after you buy your ticket at a station you need to validate them. If I buy a day ticket do I validate it once before I get on or each time before I get on?
How long are the 4 ticket options valid for? I travel in Berlin at least twice a week so not sure if it's better to start getting the 4 ticket options.

Den Part mit dem Fahrrad versteh ich als gebürtiger Berliner jetzt aber nicht so ganz… jedes Kind weiß hier doch, dass in Bussen die Fahrradmitnahme generell nicht gestattet ist!
Die einzige Ausnahme sind die Nachtbuslinien N1-N9, dort ist maximal ein Fahrrad pro Fahrzeug erlaubt, allerdings nur wenn kein Rollstuhl oder Kinderwagen mitfährt, die haben nämlich Vorrang. Diese Linien fahren nachts zwischen 01:30 und 04:00 nämlich als Ersatz für die U-Bahnen.
Hallo Cari und Janusz. Ich wollte wissen was man machen soll, wenn man in den Bus einsteigt. Soll man seine Karte zeigen? Oder darf man einfach nur einsteigen? Ich war schon einmal in Berlin und ich wusste nicht ob ich das machen sollte. Ich hatte immer angst vor den sauer-ausehenden Busfahrern, um sie eine Frage zu stellen. Grüße aus Philadelphia!
Du hast aber nicht erwähnt dass man die Fahrkarte gültig machen muss. Sehr wichtig ! Dass habe ich nur zufallig ausgefunden. Mick Neuseeland
hättest du das Video bloß früher gedreht... als wir in Berlin waren, haben wir mindestens 15 Minuten bei dem Ticketsautomat verbracht, um die richtigen Tickets zu kaufen ;D aber sowieso wieder ein tolles Video

Nur mal so zur Info, der Busfahrer hat es richtig gemacht, denn die Fahrradmitnahme ist nur in S-Bahn, U-Bahn und Straßenbahn möglich, in Bussen hingegen nicht, siehe Beförderungsbestimmungen.
