Written in Stars does involve holiday time scenes, but it's not primarily centered around the holidays. I read it during not-holiday time and I didn't feel it was over holiday-centric.
Written In the Stars takes place during the holidays but 100% read it any time. The holidays are there to raise the stakes but that’s about it. It’s an AMAZING romance book, as is the second one, and the third in the series/collection comes out on February first!
I’ve not read six crimson cranes but the story of a girl whose stepmother turns her six brothers to cranes and the girl must remain silent is from a story usually called The Six Swans, or The Swan Brothers. Both the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen both have versions though an additional detail in both of those versions is that she has one year to weave them shirts out of stinging nettle and she doesn’t finish the youngest brothers in time and so he changes back except for his wings.
I read Written in the Stars and it isn’t holiday centered, it just mentions the holidays in a couple scenes (both Thanksgiving and Christmas). You should also read the sequel Hang the Moon! ❤️
Six Crimson Cranes sounds like a retelling of H.C. Andersen’s de vilde svaner (the wild swans) which is about a princess who’s stepmother turns her brother into swans, and in other to turn them back the princess has to weave a shirt for each brother made out of stinging nettles without making a sound
Six crimson swans sounds like the wild swans fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen with a princess that saves her 11 brothers from their evil step mother that turned them into swans. An 1838 fairytale. Would definitely look it up, it is a very touching story.
hey hailey! i kinda came up with a video idea? you could do this at the end of the year for bookmas? it’s just comparing how many physical books you read vs audio and saying which books were physical and which ones were audio, this is just an idea!
The firekeeper daughter is really great so to is these violent delights I absolutely love written in the stars and no the book isn't a holiday book I also read the authors other book
New Pokémon switch game comes out at the end of January. Also a good fantasy series is the black witch but can be intimidating as it’s a series and the books are 600+ pages
Here's my tbr for January Fresh by Margot wood The great peace by mena suvari her memoir Not my father son by alan cumming Blood mirror Later by Stephen king Our violent ends
Im currently finishing up Elizabeth Lim's Blood of Stars duology and you find out near the end a little bit about Shiori's story so I think it would be accurate to say that Six Crimson Cranes is like a prequel to that duology. SCC will also be a duology so looking forward to that.
This year I've committed to prioritize reading again, so I made a little list with all the 12 books a want to read this year - just to keep me going. Let's see how it goes ☺️
Every time I hear someone describe "Six Crimson Cranes" I can't help but think of another book that I read where this princess is sent away by her stepmother and her brothers get turned into Swans. In order to free them, the princess has to make each of them shirts made of nettles, that she must pick, crush and weave, all while not making a sound. It's called "Wild Swans" I think. I've been hesitant to read "These Violent Delights" just because it's a Romeo & Juliet retelling and I didn't enjoy Romeo & Juliet. "Written in the Stars" & "Beasts of Prey" are on my TBR, just not for this month.
So far this month I've read Under The Whispering Door by T.J Klune - it quickly became one of my fave books!! I'm currently reading Little Women but it's taking me ages to get through, so I might put it aside and start a new book! ♡ I use Bookly to record everything I read! The Firekeeper's Daughter looks amazing! I'll add that to my wishlist! ♡ I bought Six Crimson Cranes and Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim in October! They're on my April-May TBR! I'll add Kingdom of the Wicked on my wishlist too - I've been looking at that book for ages but could never decide about it! I bought These Violent Delights back in December - I saw it on booktok and I kinda love the concept! I just hope the overhype is worth it! Echoes & Empires look awesome! I really want to read it! The Shadows Between us too! Definitely a great choice of books for January! I hope you enjoy them all + amazing video as always! ♡
Written in the Stars is sooooo good! And imo, eventhough it’s set in December, it’s not necessarily a holiday read. It’s perfect for winter to cosy up with a blanket, so it’s a great book for January! Also, The Shadows Between Us is A-MA-ZING!!
LOVE Six Crimson Cranes. it is based on a fairy tale actually! The Six Swans (it's also goes by other names). I found it did pick up in the second half! It left me so excited for the companion novel!
Would love a reading vlog with TikTok hyped books! Love your videos, Hailey. I loved Written In the Stars and, from what I remember, it's not Christmassy. :)
Six cranes sounds like a retelling of The Six Swans by Brothers Grimm. Through someone in the family using magic the siblings are cursed and the sister who is mute through the curse has to spin nettle shirts for her brothers who have turned into swans to stop their forever transformation.
Written in the stars is amazing!!! It takes place during the holidays but i would say it’s still a perfect January read! It’s also the first of three books with the same characters! Hang The Moon is also super cute and I’m reading the ARC for Count Your Lucky Stars! All the characters through the books are amazing so I really do highly recommend all three of them! 💗
I'm hoping to get to both Kingdom of the cursed as well as These Violent Delights next month. I hope you enjoy them both when you get to them. The bones of ruin is on my kindle tbr and hopefully I will get to that this year as well. Good luck with your January TBR Hailey.
ive read 5 so far in the year last year i read 46 books which was my best ever and 32 of them were in the final 3 months so im hoping to get 100 this year
I have also already read 4 books! This year is off to a good start, I'm trying to read at least 5 books a month this year- which is really ambitious for me!!
Your TBR is literally what I got for Christmas 🎄🤣 btw, ton français est très bon! Je suis Française et j'ai trouvé ton accent bien! Félicitations! I can see that ur hard work learning French is paying off!
Happy New Years Hailey! I hope your year is going good! Hope you are doing good and so is your boyfriend and everyone is safe! I totally get the need to read chunkier books in the winter!
Great video and information. Thank you for introducing me into bookmas first time ever! Been following you for about a year and I enjoy your input and videos.
@@HaileyinBookland Just as a follow up. They are pretty important for the final book "Defiant" and are technicaly not novellas ( each of them are over 200 pages long, so in total another 600 pages). Sanderson even said they are kinda mandatory for the last book. He couldn't put those things into cytonic, because book length. They follow the Skyward flight on Detritus. He worked as a coauthor on them with a long time friend of his Janci Patterson.
I love your videos but sometimes you move the book around so much that I can't get a good look at the cover, when you're talking about a book you move it around the whole time so it's just hard to look at it!
These Violent Delights and Our Violent Ends were my favorites of 2021. Highly recommend. Also I'd love a vlog with booktok hyped books please 😍

The Shadows Between Us was in my top two of 2021. It got me to start reading again and why I loved fantasy. It will keep you on the edge of your seat!

That is because they are both based on the same fairy tale "The Six Swans"!
I have studied French for eight years so I know the struggle of a new language but you're doing great so far!

I haven't read Don't Read The Comments and I think it is relevant/fundamental for content creators and anyone who shares stuff publicly.
May 2022 bring you good books, warm blankets, and lots of doggie cuddles!

So many interesting titles! Can't wait to hear what you will think of them! ❤️
Your make up, love it 💕
Written in the Stars is so so SO good!! An easy read and an easy five stars!! It’s not really a holiday story. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Glad you had a good break, hailey . Just wondering, did you read the novellas that go before cytonic?
I haven't yet, but I might! Usually I'm just not a big novella person
@@HaileyinBookland Just as a follow up. They are pretty important for the final book "Defiant" and are technicaly not novellas ( each of them are over 200 pages long, so in total another 600 pages). i just read the fire keepers daughter it was phenomenal and the twist was crazy
Is Vespertine the third book in a series?
It's a standalone! The author has a penchant I guess, for writing that type of thing.
Does Babble have ASL?
Love it!😍🥰🥰
Yes that would be a fun vlog lol
❤️
